It's always so funny hearing big youtubers talking about an unnoticeable audio problem in the video while they sound crystal clear. Even if there is a problem the audience rarely hear it because youtube compression destroys all the hifi efforts which is sad

I mean it sounds pretty crunchy on my ears but its not problematic at all. I still enjoy watching and just turning sound down a tiny bit reduces the crunchy. But that being said i have autism and am extremely sensitive to noises so most people definitely wont notice anything 😅

You might not hear the noise because they put the audio through a bunch of postprocessing to remove it, but trust me, people with an ear for it can hear extremely minute changes -- whether it's from the original noise or from the postprocessing.

I'm really loving the automated copper ageing farm project. I have a feeling that we still haven't seen the end of it, which frankly makes me excited. XISUMA! Those cases that are designed to be quiet sometimes have the opposite effect. This is because they have very restrictive airflow, which results in fans having to run at higher RPM and generate more noise. I would suggest picking a spacious, airflow-oriented case. Oversizing your cooling system can also contribute to lower fan noise. The "Gamers Nexus" KZfaq channel is a great resource for reviews, comparisons, and overall best picks.
@gfgfufy0

Another option to reduce noise is to change the fan speed curve. The default curves are usually overly aggressive.

Xisuma independently discovering Block 36 mechanics with his blast chamber🤣
@IainDoherty51
@IainDoherty51 Ай бұрын
With regards to the blast chamber you just need to do something that shifts the output blocks into a more compact form and then uses a single TNT blast chamber and the Block 36 mechanics caused by precisely timing the TNT and the piston pushing into the chamber such that the blocks are hit by the explosion while moving. That would let you break massive amounts of them with very little issue
@xisumavoid
@xisumavoid Ай бұрын
It doesn't use block 36.
@BBSplat
@BBSplat Ай бұрын
@@xisumavoid I think that @lainDoherty51 is talking about the issue you had at 13:05, where more blocks were being blown up than you expected. When blocks are moved by pistons they temporarily become "moving piston blocks", previously with block ID 36, so it's often called "Block 36". One quirk of it is that moving blocks have *no blast resistance*. Because your TNT was blowing up the blocks exactly when they were being pushed, the explosion was able to reach further! By delaying the explosion by one observer tick, the explosions went back to exploding one row of copper blocks, as expected.

Also it's so cool that oxidised copper has such a dramatic effect on other copper oxidising, I remember before you started showcasing this that I thought it was just a rumour but it really makes a huge difference, and this farm with such a massive piston feed tape over everything looks so cool!! I'm intrigued that the copper robots are going to play a big part in the shop, the only thing I can think of with that is that Hermitcraft is going to get one of those mods that adds the additional mob vote mobs but that doesn't sound super Hermitcraft-y so I guess that's probably not it, either way I'm looking forward to whatever happens with that!

If you have another room nearby your recording room or you can poke a few holes in the wall, water cooling the computer and putting an external radiator with long hoses to the next room (or just a really large radiator so it's quiet even when under full load) would make the PC almost silent. The benefit of exhausting the heat to another room is your recording area stays a nice temperature even after a long time.

About the sound dampened computer case: The dampened cases were a trend that ended a few years ago, when reviewers, customers and finally the manufacturers just learned that you can keep a PC much quieter by designing a case for maximum airflow. Manufacturers liked that trend, cause you could charge for the additional materials. You want it soo the air can get in and out the case almost unrestricted (dust filters) and in the end your fan curve tuning will do the rest.

Have 1/3 be double slabbed for maximum oxidisation, 1/3 single slabbed for mild oxidized, and 1/3 with no slabs so that it only gets to the first weathered stage. Yes, if you check out the code, each copper block looks out for all copper blocks within a 4 unit taxicab distance. If there is one in a less oxidised stage, it will not oxidise. Otherwise, the rate is scaled with ones in the same stage slowing it down, with ones in a later stage reducing that slowdown.

Is it a 4 block taxicab or a nine-by-nine area
@jeffreyblack666
@jeffreyblack666 Ай бұрын
@@mehulpandya4761 4 block taxicab. You can easily test this yourself with a simple comparison, which to make it better start with a plane of copper blocks. Then pick 3 locations for comparison. For one, clear all other blocks in the 9 by 9 area. For one, clear all blocks within 4 blocks taxicab distance from it. And then for good measure, do the same with a 7 by 7 area (making 4 blocks within the 4 block taxicab distance). You will see the block with a 9 by 9 area clear, and the one with a 4 block taxicab distance clear oxidise together. The one with the 4 blocks within that taxicab distance are much slower.
@another_jt
@another_jt Ай бұрын
Given that a given copper block looks 4 blocks away in every direction for the total number of un-waxed copper, and that affects the chance for the copper to age, and the higher percentage of blocks that are at a more advanced age makes the given copper block to age, you could have 4 layers of weathered cut copper slabs both above and below (or to the right and left for a vertical setup) to get the minimum aging time. There may be a point of diminishing return with the 4th layer that may take some investigation.

I ran some numbers, and when the game selects a copper block it attempts to age, it calculates a percentage chance of the block to age based on the total number of un-waxed copper blocks and the number of higher oxidized un-waxed copper blocks it finds in a 4 block radius spherical area around it, as well as if that block is un-aged copper or partially aged copper. Layers: visible fully weathered copper blocks 1 layer below: 25 2 layers below: 38 3 layers below: 43 4 layers below: 44 If you've got fully weathered blocks both above and below, add the numbers together, for example 2 layers above and 2 layers below: 76 fully weathered blocks visible. Additionally, with a layer of copper blocks at the same weathered state as the given block, it can see a maximum of 40 blocks that are presumably the same weathered state on the same layer. So for that first block to advance in oxidation state, here are the percentage chances that it will age based on the number of layers surrounding a layer of copper to be aged. Layers of aged copper around: % chance of un-aged copper; % chance of partially aged copper 0 (just a sheet of copper): 0.04%; 0.06% 1 layer below: 11.64%; 15.52% 2 layers below: 18.28%; 24.37% 3 layers below: 20.58%; 24.37% 4 layers below: 21.02%; 28.03% 1 layer above and 1 layer below: 23.56%; 31.31% 2 layers above and 2 layers below: 32.48%; 43.31% 3 layers above and 3 layers below: 35.20%; 46.93% 4 layers above and 4 layers below: 35.70%; 47.60% Note: layers below can be layers to one side, or above. it all works out the same. So by going from 1 layer of copper blocks below to 2 layers below, you increased the chance for the first block to step up from unweathered to exposed from 11.64% to 18.28%, and by adding 2 layers above and 2 layers below it went up to 32.48%. That means that a block of unweathered copper with one layer of fully weathered copper below will succeed on aging (on average) on only 1 out of ~9 aging attempts. With 2 layers above and 2 layers below will succeed to age on 1 out of ~3 attempts. And these percentages are worse case, so they only get better as more blocks in the area age. Adding a 3rd layer will help even more, but a 4th layer, since it only adds at most 2 fully weathered blocks to the total amount of unwaxed copper, may not be worth the extra copper.
