Note, the immigration rules change somewhat arbitrarily. so beware of possibly being stopped at the airport or border. I did 8 months without a visa too, but now I have a retirement visa. In Bangkok, my rent is about $330 in a great condo with two pools, a fitness center, a basketball court, a study building with a game room too. A public train station is steps away, less than a 2 minute walk and a mall is attached by bridge to the train station. My electricity is about $25 a month, my internet is about $10, my cell phone is $6. I eat western practically every day, so my food and entertain is maybe $500 to $700 per month. So I live on about $1,100 a month.

@@ceeIoc Yes. You can find cheaper monthly rent: less than $200 per month. Other expenses are local transportation costs: $0.60 to $1.10 per subway ride. Travel to and from a nearby country every 2 months to renew your visa is another expense you may have to incur.

If you want less hassles go rent a hotel room in a not so expensive hotel just let them know how long you are staying and negotiate better rates. Same places are like extended stays and rent for about 400 dollars a month and you don't need to deal with hassle of paying water bills, electric bills separately. You can easily get a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom for that price.
@SLOBeachboy
@SLOBeachboy 10 ай бұрын
I’ve never really considered it a "hassle" to pay utilities in Thailand, and lets face, unless you are only staying a few months you are always going to get a much nicer place at a better price by renting a condo long term. Back to utilities though, the guy was not getting ripped off on utilities simply because he was in an airbnb. In fact, its the same situation when renting a condo in Thailand. Unlike in the USA where everyone in a given city pays the same rate and even renters all pay directly to the utility company, in Thailand you are always paying the landlord and there are different utility rates for each building even within the same city. The first thing you want to check when renting any place in Thailand is what rate you will be paying for electricity and water. I only pay 5 baht per kilowatt hour at my big and very nice condo here in Phuket but my girlfriend pays double that amount at her small apartment in Buriram where she goes to school. So her utilities end up costing about half of what her monthly rent is. You always have to check this before you sign the contract for a condo or apartment rental.

Hi, this clip is so useful. Thank you so much for visiting us. As a Thai, this is just my opinion. Lots of Thai women who have regular jobs and do housework are out there, but their lifestyles might not be so attractive or interesting. They might be too busy working to support themselves and parents more than going to parties at night. These women are looking for long term relationship for sure. However, they will not commit themselves to guys they just meet at pubs and bars. Well, people who go to the right place will find the right people. Anyway, hope you enjoy Thailand so far. I wish you have a great trip wherever you go. Take care. Please come to visit Thailand again.😀

@@rhh176 - Over the years in Thailand I have dated mostly students, office ladies, departments store girls, hotel staff, beauticians, etc., and I have found it to be very easy to meet them just in the course of going about my normal day. I have also met some of my ex-gfs online however, including my current girlfriend who is a student. Of course this is not as easy as it used to be as prostitutes have pretty much taken over most the popular Thai dating sites (apps) like Thaifriendly. And the worst part is that 95% of the freelancers who put up profiles on these sites will give no indication in their profile that they are actually there to find customers, so you have to waste your time contacting them first to find out. The bottom line is you will have to spend hundreds of hours on these sites weeding out undesirables like prostitutes, scammers, or ladyboys pretending to be real women before you finally find a few women that you might actually want to meet in person for a date.

Public Transportation - Coming from London and being used to a very connected transportation system the disconnected MRT, BTS, water taxis and various levels of buses (basic open windows no A/C to more modern busses) was a shock in Bangkok. I once waited for a bus to go to Wat Pho for nearly 1 hour. I gave up and I went home. No timetable and bad traffic. Motorbike taxis introduces me to scooters. Which I have fallen in love with. Accommodation - It is really easy to get a condo. Minimal paperwork. The facilities are amazing. Rooftop pools, gyms, communal/co-working spaces, manicured gardens, security and parking. And if you are really lucky a 7Eleven on the premises comes in handy. The Heat - I still have not got used to the heat. Safety - I feel safe traveling about alone. People have been helpful. Flying Internally - Flying from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is 1 1/2 hours reasonably priced. So I can get a fix of Bangkok for a few days and fly back. The same for Krabi and Phuket. I am living in Chiang Mai Thailand, I have hired a scooter to get around, I am trying to learn the language, I am trying different condos. I have flown to Singapore and Malaysia. I plan to visit Sri Lanka, Philippines and Vietnam in the next 6 months, as they are close and airfare is reasonably priced. Pre lockdown I had written off SE Asia as being too foreign but now I am glad I came and I want to visit as many Asian countries before I go back to the UK.

ELECTRICITY: that's the first question you need to ask even before having a look at a condo. Isaiah is right: they make money off your electricity, but there are places you will be charged directly by the electricity company. I live in a condo in Chiang Mai and actually have my local electricity company app on my phone and get billed on the first. I pay my bill directly to the electricity company, and the rate at the moment is 4.70 baht per unit (inclusive of their 7% VAT). The rate changes from time to time. It was actually 4.77 until May ('23) but it was reduced to 4.70 for the 4 summer months.

My advice: Don’t rely on your savings. Unless you are a millionaire if you don’t have a source of income don’t move to Thailand. You will spend more than you expected, you will ruin the experience as you see your bank account going down, eventually you will run out of money and you will regret your time in Thailand. If you don’t have sustainable source of income while in Thailand, keep it simple, just work in the west, save money and go to Thailand just for holidays.

As far as costs go different provinces and different parts of a city have massively different costs. Phuket is by far the most expensive place in Thailand. Also if you are staying a while learning some Thai can help reduce costs a lot as places that cater for English speakers primarily cost a lot more. Also you will usually find the best Thai food by looking for places where many Thai people eat

If you are there for any stretch its more cost effective to just rent a condo vs doing airbnb because that way you can get the electricity bill on your account & a lot of places give the government rate or a rate that is relatively close to it.(Bangkok, Chiang Mai or Pattaya) If using WU to send money to yourself choose the slow rate instead of money in minutes & the exchange rate is pretty good right now USD to THB. @@TheKlopdokter It’s very affordable. You I’d recommend doing an airb&b for a week or so and then scoop out the land to see where you want to be and price places locally. Hotels are also super cheap there

It is absolutely crazy to me the amount of guys that go to a bar - meet a girl ( prostitute ) fall for them and say she is different- really loves them. And are shocked at how badly it ends.

Yup 👍 these guys say that stupid saying. Can’t take the bar out da bar girl . The bar girls say , can’t take the sucker out the suckers . It’s like , why do the guys go to Thailand to try and rescue a working girl . Why they can just rescue a working girl where they are from ? These guys are just horn ball desperate wanna be super man’s and have nothing else going on in their lives and blame freelance girls for ruining there live 😂 frickrn suckers that don’t have the patience to put in the effort for searching for a companion, just think my chump change money can buy a vulnerable girl , but the guy is the one who is vulnerable “” the sucker “”

Great video. Ive been in Thailand since December and agree with your points. I love Thai food but will crave western food at some point in the week. My permanent base is Chiang Mai and 90% of western food isn't great. Also there are thai meals here for 50-60thb per meal. Though the standard varies. I was ordering from one place. First two times were good. The third meal the meat was all fat. I thought it may have been an off night, then ordered again and was the same. Though found paying circa 100thb-120thb per meal you get far better quality and its more consistent. If you avoid alcohol and dont go western, it super reasonable.

And if one treats it like a normal life, they can easily get by on $2000 a month having a decent life style. When he says ones needs to over $2000 this is if you want to live as if you were on vacation. Hotel aside, I used to spend around 100€ (just a bit higher than $100) a day during my holidays from 2007 to 2011, but I was what some peope call a xxx-tourist and that meant I would spend this amount because I pay for girls to get freaky with me, or else I would never have spent this kind of money on any day during my vacation. And as a member of a few forums dedicated to mongering in Thailand, I can say than the average daily budget for a monger was around $100-150. People who spent more were pretty much put in the high roller or the "Two weeks millionaires" category. And these are people who were on holiday. Expats were usually more frugal on their spending I know, it's been over a decade. But I was back in Thailand last year after more than a decade. And I noticed that hotels, food and condo prices are pretty much the same as before. It's pretty much the price for girls company that have increased (exponentially in some places). But, in my opinion, the life of an ordinary man is not the one where one would pay 20 to 30 women to have bed fun each month, nor spend $100 on a night out 30 days a month (not even 20 days for that matter). This is a holiday lifestyle not a normal lifestyle. But let's say one spends $100 on average, every single time they get out and they get out 8-10 times a month. That's $800-1000 a month for fun times. That leaves $1000-$1200 a month for food and bills. Are you telling me one can't get a decent one bedroom flat and eat decently with that money? Are you serious? If so, I need you to do a break down of regular expenses. I spent 3 months from late october 2022 to late january 2023. I was renting a one bedroom condo at Olympus City Garden in central Pattaya. This building was only two years old, so it wasn't some cheap dusty condo, it was a very decent brand new condo and I was able to live on $1000 easily when it comes to accommodation bills and food. With $2000 a month, I would have felt like Rockefeller sha***ing bar girls left and right 😅 and you're telling me one needs more than $2000 to live well in Thailand??? Get out of here man! 😂

@rusted5408 It is a medium-sized town that is not too much to hold the interest of tourists but is a good central point to El Nido, Port Barton, Underground River, Balabac. Etc. There are downsides here, but I have been here long enough to put in roots, a lot of friends, got a home I like, and feel I fit here. That's why I stay.

I’m curious to know how you have been doing your visa’s to stay so long. Have you been doing border runs or using an agency….or a combination of both? If you’re using an agency, can you please list the name of the agency, or perhaps thinking about doing a video on the different agencies, costs and the overall process of getting visa extensions? BANK: open WISE Bank account before coming to Thailand. You will get a debit card with it, but the point is you will not have to pay ATM charges as you can convert your $$ into baht in a very good exchange rate with minimal commission. MOST RECOMMENDED!

Nice summary. You are wise in many areas, most importantly when it comes to dating. As a Thai woman, I would say trying to meet people outside the bars. Professional people, university students ect. You would know what kind of jobs they have or their lifestyles are. Good luck and God bless, hope you come back to Thailand again.

Just take a lot of cash with you before traveling to Thailand. Hide some on your shoes, Money Belt, Wallet, Cellphone carry case, Hat, Pockets, vest , Get creative. I think the maximum you can take on airport is 10k dollars for most people that is plenty of money to last about 5-6 months. Open an account with a bank that could be found in Thailand Like CHASE. They got branch in Bangkok. If you need pull money out instead of going to ATM go to a teller inside the Bank the fees are often waived or less. The bigger Western banks are less likely to give you a hard time about opening a bank account. Use your Passport.

This is about the worst advice. Civil Asset forfeiture happens all the time. Look into a Schwab account that reimburses you all ATM fees. Bring enough for a couple of days. Good to use ATM at open Bank Branch if you have card troubles.
