Between you and Retromation the amount of game I’ve found that quickly turned into favorites of mine is crazy, and this one was added to the list when you both first played it who knows how long ago now

Those Ether dice basically make your build go nuclear. Use Regrowth and Nurture on them to make the combined value of both equal 4, and get Solidify cast once for free every turn. That would free up 4 dice power to use for other things, like more uses of Gaia's Wrath to scale even harder. Who'd have thought the Earth Mage would be the one with the hyperscaling build. Edit: Oh my god they proc individually. Both uses for free at zero cost.

I remember getting into the playtest of this game based on your vids. It's a fun experience, some great design choices, like making the difficulty aspects part of the build (you can really exploit some of the handicaps, turns out.) It's a lot more strategic than usual, focused on the build and how it can use the dice rather than trying to get the most out of a randomised deck. Scratches a different itch, you might say, in that the results of your choice pop up way more consistently than in a regular deckbuilder (where you have to wait for the draw). Also nice to know the devs are on-point with player feedback, got a response to my bug report within hours, if memory serves. So yeah, this one's on top of my list, along with Last Epoch. Looking forward to seeing how it develops further.

You seem to have gotten it in your head that Earth Bane requires a 1 rather than any odd number lol. There were a few times here where you were in a rough spot and could have thrown in a 3 instead of a 1 to at least take down one of the monsters. Sorry to back seat, but I do love the content and mean no ill will 😄

look at the last line of text on the card: "On 1: gain 1 barrier". that's why you usually see him pumping 1s into it.

Wow another game that I'll buy. Been enjoying the heck out of lone star and this just seems similar but more. Not sure why people are saying it didn't grab them. For me the music is nice, the gameplay mechanics is good for sure, like the choice path like sts. Overall exicted

You and reto both give this game super high praise so I really should grab it myself but idk man, watching his playthrough, the game didn't grab me the way others in the genre immediately did

So you have the same skills every round? That seems like it will be very easy to win, just like you seems to be doing with the stacking of metallicize to just outblock every enemy. Like, in slay the spire you have to be lucky to draw your combo, while here you always have it. Seems boring.

Ehh, I'm not sure if I agree. One of the best StS strategies is to have an incredibly small deck so you draw it every turn. At least with this you have to work around dice RNG.

@@wanderbots In StS you have to really work to get that thin a deck, which is just one of many other viable strategies, while here you get it from the start, and have to use that same strategy every game. If they would have had a deck of abilities in SpellRogue, instead of the same five abilities every round, you would get to play around with dice RNG anyway, but with more of a "play the hand you are given" feel to it, which is a cornerstone of deck builders. Anyways, to each their own, right?

The game is not jank in a negative way, I’ve watched retromation play it for over a year and it is very good. If you like this type of game, I think you will like this one. It is his “most anticipated deckbuilder” as the video titles will inform you

I get what they are saying but I can’t put a finger on it, it looks… “off” there’s also a discrepancy in the unit models and the ux design.

I'm curious as well. I can see not liking the mechanics or the art style, but the UX is almost flawless so far. Literally the only complaint I have after playing for 7 hours is that I'd like to see both upgrades during hover instead of having to right click, and that's such a small quality of life thing.

don't know why you aren't putting more effort into scaling your power using "ultimate power" BEFORE you play your attacks? whatever. you often don't pay attention to details.
