After more than fifty years of putting junk back together for myself and fixing cars that should have been junked for other people, it's rather refreshing to watch some of this new stuff get flattened. I never thought I would enjoy watching cars get crushed, but I definitely do. There are times I see things in your yard that I would love to have, but then I remind myself that I am trying to down-size, I seventy years old and, you are too far away for me to just come over and get it [thank God]! I still pick up junk and fix it, but I only do riding mowers now. Try to stay safe, and keep on doing what you are. Oh, yea, the Jeep is worth saving and passing along.

I hear your frustration on the trucks. If it's any consolation, when I drove trucks, I could be sitting for hours, sometimes until the next day to get loaded. A lot of this can be avoided if people simply do what they say they will, and call if something unexpected happens.
@danbartolini27
@danbartolini27 2 жыл бұрын
My wife runs a warehouse and the number of times they have stayed late or gone in early for trucks that don't show is ridiculous. The problem is dispatchers that have no idea what they are doing. She would call for a ETA and be told they are about an hour away and then 10 hours later the trucks still not there and rolls in the next morning 24 hours later and you find out when you where told he was an hour away he hadn't even been loaded yet
@txviking
@txviking 2 жыл бұрын
@@danbartolini27 Yep. There's also dispatchers who somehow assume your fully laden truck can average 70 mph -- even going through a 55 mph speed limit state, through construction, or through traffic.

I believe the engine in that old farm truck is a 360 small block Silas. AMC discontinued the 390 sometime around the start of or in the early 1970s. From the truck's front end, it's from the late 70s to early 80s.

Jeep J-20. I bought a new 1974 J-10 in October of '73 and it served as a dependable truck, first in the business, then around the farm. Finally sold it in 1986. Available engines were the 258 inline six, or V8 of 394, 360 or 401 inches. Mine was a 360, and it served for 207,000 miles without excessive repairs. Body was a great place to find rust, right from the first. However, it was a new 4x4 for under $4,000. Bought my first Ford pickup in 1986, and never found reason to go back!

Sometimes I simply don't get it. There had been at least 6 aluminum rims left on crushed cars (for instance on the dark Mercedes). Additionally: A good running Mercedes engine from a relatively new car, can be sold for lots of money. And so can the gear box and the differential. 3) The green farm trailer had at least two green sheet panels with yellow writing (John Deere?) for wall art on it, one even already pretty lose.
