yep, top notch, no contorsion on the hips and the shoulders ( and therefor no sidewarts contorsion on the spine) , it must have taken a lot of practise to achieve this , every movement, joints are focused on going forward , and not the slighthest on going sidewarts, this has to be hard training, no doubt

That is what I noticed as well @Ella Mae Loftus, she seemed so relaxed, and focused, all at the same time. That type of fluidity in running takes both a broad view, and a relaxed side focus. There is the lane, the start, the sprint, and the rhythm. It is like a type of tunnel vision, once the gun goes off, you are already moving out of the blocks, then find your stride, and pump through. She makes it seamless from the start, but girl has power, and can kick it up, and get meters ahead.

Lost in the absurdity of Sydney's world record was the fact that Dalilah ran the 6th fasted 400m hurdles race in history. 52.42. And she's still shaking off rust from a long time out with some injuries. I genuinely believe we could see both of these ladies under 52 in Tokyo if the conditions line up right. Totally agree. I did not think Dalilah would be in sub 53 shape so soon. She likely has more room for improvement between now and the olympics which should make for a closer finish then we saw at the trials. I think Sydney is the better athlete this year (even when Dalilah is more race sharp) but if Dalilah has the inside lane and puts her under pressure early then it could go her way.

2:14 Sydney's 52.23 wasn't the second fastest time at that point. Dalilah's previous WR of 52.20 (which she broke in that race) was.

It's a subtle but necessary distinction. She ran the third fastest time ever and was the second fastest performer of all-time at that point.

@@stevegeorge6880 it is not subtle. Up until this race Delilah had the 2 fastest times ever and Sydney 3rd. Now Sydney has the fastest and 3 rd fastest times. Delilah 2, 3, 5!. Delilah must be recognised for pushing the time boundaries of this sport!

I think there are more things involved, they had more time to train, less demanding races, less drug testing (so you dont need to lower the doses throughout the year), and maybe new drugs involved. Still i respect those atheltes for hard work, but people just must realise that something is weird when there are like two dozen of world records broken in one event.

I have followed track and field almost all of my life and I still remember the 90s with Kim Batten and Sandra Farmer Patrick dominating this event and then came Dalilah Mohd with that incredible WR and now we've got another icon in the making in Sydney. And I believe she is absolutely incredible and she really decimated the WR by miles! Her foot speed and endurance was the factor that gave her the edge over Dalilah. The future of USA athletics is bright as ever with so many young talents who will shine in Tokyo. I'm ecstatic!
