I visited Syria right after the war and it's not what I expected

This is my first day in Syria visiting Damascus. This is not at all what I expected. So much of what you see on Syria in the media is destruction and devastation. This is not to say that this does not exist in the country -- it definitly does, but Damascus was spared much of the war and is a very different place. This video will shed more light on what its like to visit Damascus in 2024 as an American.
If you need a guide for Syria, I used: syriascopetravel.com/

The modern Döner Kebab (inside a breadroll) was invented 1972 in Berlin, Germany by Kadir Nurman. The first mentioned Dürum Kebab (Mutton on a rotisserie without side dishes and not in a bread ) dates back to 1836 in Anatolia. So modern Döner Kebab isn´t Ottoman.

Try to edit your comment, it's not totally understandable. And the house is an ottoman house, that doesn't mean it's turkish.. But it was built during the ottoman era, that's what meant. But the house has a Damascus style not turkish.

I am about 3minutes in or so. There was a dog barking in the background. It caused my dog to get up from her resting spot to go look outside , looking for the new friend she just heard. She seemed disappointed to realize it was through the TV. Idk, I just found something beautiful in the fact the dogs can recognize comraderie instantly in a way our human languages sometimes sadly separate us. Just a thought, figured I would share..algorithm and all that. Just found you and subbed.❤

As a westerner, I’m ashamed of western tourists. They be like : “oh this is free, I’ll take it. So nice I don’t have to pay for it. I love this trip.” These people get through a very difficult economic situation. And they are nice because that’s how they genuinely are. So please, tourists that go and visit places like this, pay that and give that man a tip ( if you will pay for a full pomegranate juice cup, give him 1 $, instead of 0.66€). They wouldn’t want to take, because they have an education, morals and humanity. Let’s show that westerners aren’t cheap and egoistic, and insist on paying at least , at least!!! for what you consume❤

Not mentioned but it was a Christian church. Why keep St.John? Churches are selected by Holy locations. This still will not help islams. Must follow Jesus Christ to be saved. Pagans once had this building to honor jupiter & some other gods.

Lovely! Did you have to book your visa security clearance through a tour guide? Or without a "tour guide operator" etc. Because I read that it's necessary with a tour guide. And that is a lot of extra money, etc. And I wish to remind you and all here that Jesus Christ is the King of kings, the King of the Jews Who is coming back to judge all the nations. And to be saved, you must believe in His death and resurrection and ask for forgiveness of all your sins, and ask Him to save you and to come into your life and be baptized. God bless all who read this.

You understand isrsel goes back 3000 years, about the same as Damascus. Palestine is an invention. Next to that, israelis so share a lot with their nephews from other faits.

We hope that this dictatorial regime will end as soon as possible and Syria will become free for all its citizens, including Muslims, Christians, Armenians, Kurds, Turkmens, Assyrians and Armenians.

I pray for that too. Although I don't really think these parts of the world, are ready for democracy or freedom.... I think better to be autocratic, with hopefully doing good for the people, in relatively peaceful situation, then having thousands of deaths, injured, your country occupied by turk, american, and jihadists forces.
