Written as a poem in 1921 by Sir Cecil Springer Rice till remember British an Commonwealth troops who died in WW1 then later on Gustav Holst added music. Now it's probably the best hymn an patriotic song in the UK an probably the world. Makes ye proud till be British an all the achievements our 4 nations made. Long live the United kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and may God Save The Queen

Ulster Infidel wasn’t Jupiter of the planets created before I vow to thee my country? Thanks for the info :) #2MonthsLaterxd

Jupitar was based on the poem that Sir Rice wrote. Gustav Holst i believed used that poem as the quote on quote "lyrics" for Jupitar.

I vow to thee my country, was made after the planets : Jupiter bringer of jollity by Gustav Holst, Except I vow to thee (my country) was given lyrics and was now made a song called I vow to thee my country, I recommend the village I vow to thee BBC's version, or Katherine Jenkins but yes, Long Live The Queen 'if the British and it's common wealth last for a thousand years... Men will still say "This Was Their Finest Hour" never in the fields of human conflict.. Was so much owed.. By so many.. To so few..' - Sir Winston Churchill.

I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love; The love that asks no questions, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar, the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice. And there's another country, I've heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness and all her paths arepeace.

Love this version. Activity and passion in those left hand runs add so much gravitas to the song. It truly feels victorious and simultaneously solmen, against all odds - inspires great patriotism. Well done!

A little late to the party here. This interpretation reminds me of Winston Churchills funeral. Serious talent kiddo! I’ve had a piano in the lounge for maybe 20 years and couldn’t rattle even 1% of that talent out. This is the version I have been searching for since you tube was invented 😏

interesting arrangement. very busy left hand - but works well. especially on the beautiful Steinway on which the treble always 'sings' and sparkles.

Great job on this piece, my favorite piano solo version of it so far! I don't suppose there's any sheet music of this floating about? For such a popular song it's surprising to see so few piano solo arrangements and I definitely don't have the compositional talent to be able to come up with one I like myself.
@OliverRice6 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid most of it was made up on the spot, but a few people have asked so I think Ill give transcribing it a go. Might take a while though... Thanks anyways.
@llF4TEll6 жыл бұрын
That's really impressive that it was improvised, no idea how you do it but I hope to be that good someday! Also please don't feel any pressure to transcribe it on account of me, your arrangement looks complex and would probably take a lot of time and effort to write sheets for.
@OliverRice6 жыл бұрын
There is loads of sheet music for basic arrangements online. Once I get the hang of the simple version I just start adding a few extra notes in and then it comes out like this, it's really a lot simpler than proper classical music - just keep practicing and it'll just click at some point.
@llF4TEll6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for explaining your thought process I really appreciate it, I'll also be sure to start trying it with some simple songs! :)

@OliverRice3 жыл бұрын
I made a start but just too much else to do I'm afraid... I need a piano to be able to remember what I played and I get to play one so rarely these days that I want to spend my time practising and playing, not transcribing. One day, perhaps. Would a simplified version with basic melody and chords be at all useful?

I've been properly trying for about 10 years, but I've never had a piano at home so practising has always been difficult. Luckily at University there are several amazing pianos like this one so I've improved somewhat.
