Fabian is one of the most successful cabaret performers in the country, numerous Swiss TV appearances and his radio format Zum Glück ist Freitag on SRF 3. At TEDxZurich people got the chance to enjoy his comedy in English.
Having received a doctorate in medicine in 2017, Fabian decided to follow his passion as a parodist and Swiss comedian, instead. Parallel to comedy, he works on his research project, lectures at home and abroad, and publishes in medical journals. Fabian made his nationwide breakthrough in the “Giacobbo / Müller” satellite show in 2008 with parodies of SVP National Councilor Christoph Mörgeli and other figures. Fabian is one of the most successful cabaret performers in the country, numerous Swiss TV appearances and his radio format “Fortunately is Friday” on SRF 3. He was just awarded the Prix Walo.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Hahaha I’m trying to learn Swiss German. My dad speaks Bernese Swiss German and my ancestors immigrated from there a few generations ago. Switzerland is home.

Came back for a third listen. Still chuckled. Well-constructed jokes generally lead towards further chuckles; even if an audience doesn't 'click' at the time. Probably to do with minor issues of timing, audience 'buy-in' to the stand-up's ideas, and the degree of originality or how much an audience has been faced with 'differently-angled' ideas from the 'usually suspected', prior to the performance :-)

I want to be a comedian but I have no edge to my material. Suisse must be a really great country, since the comedy sucks.

I thought the majority of his jokes were satirically well-informed ... right on the money?:) in that they were based upon his own country's 'proclivities.' And he coped exceptionally well when 'dying' in front of an audience, when his (often really clever) jokes fell flat i.e. weren't 'got' by the audience. Honestly, would be prepared to watch him again in a performance in English (to a big degree because my German's pretty poor.) Big ups to him.
