Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse Movie Description:
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a 2018 American computer-animated superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Miles Morales / Spider-Man, produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation in association with Marvel Entertainment. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is the first animated film in the Spider-Man franchise. Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman (in Persichetti and Rothman's feature directorial debuts) from a screenplay by Phil Lord and Rothman, it stars Shameik Moore as Morales, alongside the voices of Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, Lily Tomlin, Luna Lauren Vélez, John Mulaney, Kimiko Glenn, Nicolas Cage, and Liev Schreiber. The film's story follows Miles Morales as he becomes the new Spider-Man and joins other Spider-People from various parallel universes to save his universe from Kingpin.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse premiered at the Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles on December 1, 2018, and was theatrically released in the United States on December 14, in 2D, 3D, 4DX, Dolby Cinema, and IMAX formats. The film grossed $384.3 million worldwide against a $90 million budget. It received widespread acclaim from critics for its animation, characters, story, voice acting, and humor. The film won Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards-being the first non-Disney/Pixar film to win the award since Rango when a Disney/Pixar film was also in contention-and was similarly successful at the 76th Golden Globe Awards, the 72nd British Academy Film Awards, and the 46th Annie Awards. Two sequels, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, are set to be released in June 2023 and March 2024, respectively. A spin-off film is also in development.

9:10 The reason why nobody hates Miles's Spider-Man it's because he's an original character. He's NOT peter parker with race swap. Miles has his own personality and he earned the mantle of being spidey.

He was more of an orginal character. Now, Marvel comics has basically tried to make him into Peter Darker. People say they are fans of Miles Morales but they sure ain't buying his comic books. Over the last few years Marvel has certainly tried to race swap Miles for other popular characters. Miles as the Hulk, as Wolverine and worst version was a Thor with a "ghetto" version of Asgard. The good versions of Miles was his first run in the Ultimate universe, this movie and the latest game.

@@JBWinter there were some, but not many people who were mad when Miles was introduced. The Ultimate universe introduced a lot of changes, including versions of well-known characters who had different racial/ethnic backgrounds in that reality. But Miles was a new character entirely.

One detail I love about this film that doesn't really get highlighted is Kingpin's design. Most versions of him wear the all white suit, it's his iconic look. Instead, he's here sporting the simple black suit. It's the first clue we have towards his motivation. He's in black because he's mourning. It's not something really put out there to think about, but if you know the character it's all you need to know who he is in this

That line Spider-Ham says, "The hardest thing about this job is... you can't always save everybody." Really chokes me up, even to this day. In every single superhero story, someone important to them that they couldn't save (like Uncle Ben, or Gwen Stacy in the spider-Man comics,) is a traumatizing memory that stays with them the most, their driving force to do their very best and try not to let anyone else die. But it's an impossible task, the cruel reality, and a rather mature theme that I'm glad they touched on.

This is hands down the best Spider-Man movie ever made. It might even be the best Superhero movie. It's shockingly original, but also shockingly faithful to the source material. A few years before the MCU even attempted it, but far more elegantly, it explored some really tough to explain ideas about the multiverse, but put characterization and good storytelling at the front of things in every case. It's animated, but uses animation in a way never done before--in a way that embraces the visuals of comic books but expands on them too. It's, no BS, a Masterpiece.

EASILY one of if not the BEST animated Marvel films to date! 💯 From the comic like visuals to where you can pause at any moment and it looks like it's ripped straight from a comic (Some moments even hyper saturated with color and comic aesthetic) to the beautifully crafted soundtrack to give us the feel that we are viewing through Miles's perspective as it fits his character along with his style and swagger. His character growth from feeling like he doesn't belong and he's not cut out for the responsibility and challenge to gaining the confidence to take the leap of faith into the mantle of Spider-Man is AMAZING! 10/10 movie, I can't wait for Across the Spiderverse 💥🕸

But also as someone else or someones elses pointed out... losing someone like that is a key driving force behind the moulding of Spider-Man. That's the first loss any Spider-Man ever gets - their family. The inevitability of casualties is something not handled a lot in superhero media. No matter how good you are, you will always have casualties... eventually. Even in the real world, you can't save everybody... and that's heavy asfff. Saving as many people as you can is the goal. Only one who can pull yourself back up after those traumatic moments is you.
@cupguin
@cupguin Жыл бұрын
It's brutal and superhero themed but this movie is still about growing up. The contrast from beginning to end shows how everything he's going through makes him a better Spider-man. Then you see Fisk and he lost his family so he wants back what he lost. It's a nuts plan that won't work in the end but he almost gets them back. In that moment though he hasn't changed at all. Yeah it's different versions of his wife and kid but they're all seeing the same thing from him and none of them want anything to do with this version of him. That's why Peter and other heroes with tragic origin stories are heroes. Everyone loses people, everyone grieves and wishes their lives could be different but what matters is what you do with that pain and longing. Do you try and prevent other people from feeling that pain? Do you change yourself to reach towards your goals? Or do you lash out in anger making as many of other people suffer like you're suffering? It's not every hero's journey but it gets used a lot because of how powerful it is. You get a hero not trying to enrich themselves because they've already lost what matters and they can't replace it. It's about being a hero to spare others pain they live with everyday.

The fact you were kinda digging in the spider peeps for leaving miles was kinda weird to me. Miles hasn’t shown to be competent in his abilities yet, which makes sense as he only got them two days ago. What Peter B. was saying was that the Main Spider-Man of this universe for 10 years was killed by this guy. Miles isn’t ready to do that. If he can’t control his powers, he’s a liability to himself and the others there. Peter B didn’t want this 15 year old kid to be murdered, and feels like him giving away his life instead will give him some closure to how bad his life got. Just wanted to share my thoughts.

Peter B. Parker, objectively, isn't the best person to make that decision, though. He's already made it clear (and continues even after Miles proves himself) that he's essentially using this scenario of "someone has to destroy it" as a way to commit suicide. Someone at that point has shown that they're not entirely capable of making rational decision.

@@ShadowyFox_86 I would argue that making a decision to throw his own life away is one thing, but not wanting to throw Miles' life away shows that he was still very rational and in his depression still had the capacity to think about the well being of others. A handful of voice actors would go on to portray live-action characters in Marvel Studios Phase 4. For instance, Bryan Tyree Henry who voiced Miles’ father Jefferson would portray Phastos in the Eternals. Hailee Steinfeld, the voice behind Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman, would portray Kate Bishop/Hawkeye II. There are two sequels on the way. One coming this year is Across the Spider-Verse. Next year we’re getting Beyond the Spider-Verse. Oscar Isaac voiced Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 in the post credit scene, and he’s gonna have a prominent role in Across the Spider-Verse. That’s also where we’ll meet Jessica Drew voiced by Issa Rae. There’s a Spider-Woman spinoff in the works with Gwen and Jessica expected to appear. They also plan to bring in Cindy Moon/Silk.

I've got a lot to say about this movie, but I won't bog you down with a whole article. Instead, I'll just say that there are only four movies I've paid to see twice in the theatre. This is one of the only movies I've ever seen that I would have gladly paid to see it a third time.

Miles is a great character. He is the perfect example of the right way to have representation. He is his own awesome character without replacing Peter Parker or taking away from him. He’s not a copy of Peter. He’s a well-fleshed out character with a completely different story and personality. I’m really looking forward to seeing Miles in the mcu

A thing few people notice. Olivia continued to work for Kingpin even after she knew that people would disintegrate if they entered a foreign dimension, meaning that her "you can get all the families you want" was her nudging him into doing it. He might have been the man behind everything and she was the instigator of this entire thing.

my favourite trivia from this movie is the way Miles is animated. he has a lower framerate at the beginning of the movie than the end. his animation becomes smoother over the course of the movie as he grows into himself. "his room mate is supposed to be like Ned?" other way around. Tom Holland Spider-Man stole that dynamic from comic Miles.

Miles Morales is his own separate character and not just a race swapped Peter Parker and his introduction was done beautifully. And that’s part of why he actually works so well. THIS is how you do it right 🥲

i feel the same about race-swapping and "passing the torch" characters to carry-on the legacy of a superhero, so long as they are interesting characters, and Miles Morales definitely is an interesting character, then it doesnt matter. in fact, if done right, like in this movie, "passing the torch" plotlines offer a lot in terms of character conflict and devlopment, "am i good enough?" kinda stuff.

3:35 the visual design of this movie is unbelievable. You can freeze the movie at any point and every frame looks like a comic panel. It's gorgeous. Technology is advanced enough now that these studios should take care to put something unique and worthwhile into their films. I was impressed with how Peanuts was a 3d movie that still looked very much like the old cartoons. Lord and Miller have been involved in a ton of projects that did animation in a different way that serves the world of the story. Not just this movie, but also the Lego Movie, and also Mitchells Versus the Machines, blending regular 3d with the main characters YTP style inserts

One of the best movies I've ever seen, and I've seen a ton. I don't even put it in the "box" of animated movies because it is so far beyond even most live-action movies. The presentation of every point of view, every angle, style, music, and story was all incredible. I am SO looking forward to the next ones.

I'm actually watching this now and only finally noticing some strong vibes with Aunt May when Miles goes back to see her. Reminds me a lot of another character named Madame Web (actually they just released a planned movie for her so I dont wanna spoil much) but an older lady patiently waiting in the center of her web (patterned-room) for a Spider-Man to come to her for help...holy crap how did I miss that!?

One of my favorite and one of the best animated films ever made!!!! I regret not seeing this film in theaters but when I did see it eventually, I was blown away. It’s up there in terms of Animation along with films like Akira, The Prince of Egypt, Toy Story, Shrek, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, The Iron Giant, Spirit, How To Train Your Dragon, Fantastic Mr. Fox and countless others more that are among the list of great beautiful and iconic animated films. I can’t wait for the sequel and I was excited when this film got announced but when I found how Hailee Steinfeld is voicing Spider-Gwen, my excitement levels went up to 11 Trillion because I love Hailee Steinfeld and she is the GOAT imo! Also the cinematography is 🙌🏻👌🏻👏🏻💯

This isn't just an amazing Spider-Man movie...it's an amazing movie in general. The animation is so unique and fits the comic book tone so well. The music is perfect. The story is terrific. Great voice acting, great action, great pacing. It's just so well done. It takes a superhero character that is extremely popular and somehow puts a new, unique twist on it. This movie is just so damn refreshing and outstanding. The video game was also great. The story has parts that you can sort of pick up on before they happen, and it isn't the longest game, but it's still really fun. Miles Morales is just a damn good character. Easily one of the "realest" superheros ever.

For the record this isn't a race swap. This is an original character being introduced of a different race than the original IP while at the same time keeping the original character in the IP intact. Frankly it's a perfect example of doing it the right way. Its not just a lazy swap of races with no explanation and they didn't ignore the source material full of different races to pull from like LotR. This is exactly what people mean when they say make an original character and a great example of how to do it.

The movie was animated 'on twos,' so not every frame is actually unique, it's every other frame that changes. This is cheaper, but also punchier, especially if you lean into it, as they did. It really gives the movement almost a feel of old style cel animation. Such a cool look. Feels Like a comic book.
