Fun Fact: This created a WAVE in the animation industry with the likes of Puss in Boots 2 and The Bad Guys for stylized 2D and 3D artwork, intentionally lowering frame rates, and becoming more “animated” instead of the Pixar realism. Despite animation being in a “Post-Spider-Verse” era the team is best at it demonstrated in the sequel.

It was mainly 3D much like this movie, but gotta be honest 2D is sorely missed in the genre. The Boy and The Heron was the first 2D animation to win the best animated Oscar in decades, it's crazy because 2D still is the pinnacle of animation and Japanese animators like Miyazaki have been shitting all over 3D stuff for decades, 2D only ever got better.

The roommate is *not* a reference to Tom Holland's spider-man, it's actually the other way around. Ganke Lee, Miles's best friend from the comics, and the first person he confided in. Ned in Tom Holland's Spider-Man films is inspired by Ganke. iirc, the Tom Holland movies using that was the reason he wasn't included *more* in this film, because they didn't want that particular comparison to be made. But they did the quick "best buds" at the end there to lead back to it for the comic fans.

I cannot recommend Daredevil enough; it is, by far, the best superhero show I've ever watched. It would be really cool to see you boys react to it. Both Daredevil and this have Wilson Fisk as the prevalent villain, So I thought this would be a good time to bring it up. Additionally, Daredevil being introduced to the MCU might allow for more reactions in the future . Not to mention, there's a reboot in the making.

I’m not really gonna say anything incredibly detailed that hasn’t already been said about this movie’s success, but basically The Bad Guys, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, and TMNT: Mutant Mayhem have someone to thank. The message being: just be you is very well delivered and displayed through out the movie. I love the new Noir design because I haven’t seen him since Shattered Dimensions, he’s voiced by Nick Cage, and he’s meta af. “Are we gonna talk about him while he stares at us?” Fun fact: when they animated Miles (especially during his spider arc), he moves at a choppy 2 frames in the 30pfs this movie shoots at while everyone else is silky and smooth at 1 fps. However when he starts to accept the responsibility and expectations of Spider-Man, he begins to smooth out every other frame until the end.

Around the time they started coming up with the idea of the Spider-Verse (some time after Miles got so popular in the comics and they wanted to bring him into the mainline comics cause he originated in an alternate universe) they started coming up with a bunch of ideas including Spider-Gwen but she does have one of the sicker costumes.

All the other Spider-people are animated on ones because they're more graceful. 36:14 fun fact: in the comics, one of Wolverine’s friends commits suicide by sneaking up on Spider-Man while he was fully wound up from a fight with Wolverine. Spider-Man wasn’t looking and swung as hard as he could, thinking that Wolverine was coming to fight again. Iirc, Wolverine’s friend was on the run from some bad guys and that was the only way out she could find.

41:27 Miles broke the glass because unlike before, he didn't relax to let go of the building before jumping off. He was still stuck to it because he was still scared, and he STILL jumped anyway. It's that courage that makes him a great superhero.

Sadly the new one, “Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse,” doesn’t come out on streaming till December, the good thing is that the third movie, “Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse,” is coming out in March so u guys will get to see Beyond right after u watch Across.

9:32 The "coloring" you're talking about is called Chromatic Aberration. The animators used it in place of motion blur or the blurriness you get when something in your vision is out-of-focus.

26:05 Not trying to steal someone else's comment, but... That bagel really hit the spot. Seriously, this was already funny as a throwaway joke, but it came back in the second movie as a major plot point; I don't know if it was intended that way, but that was genius!

This movie took them 5 years to get the animation techniques figured out, it's why even though it didn't do great at the box office it was basically garunteed to get a sequel cause they had invested so much already into it. But I think it killed on home video sales/rentals. Also apparently this movie IS in 3D I saw some guys react to it in 3D and they said it was a totally different and WAY better experience and I was SUPER fucking jealous... I'm trying to figure out where I can get a 3D copy of it now to check it out myself.

28:06 In the main 616 universe, we have Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman), Cindy Moon (Silk), Aña Corazon (Araña/Spider-Girl), Julia Carpenter (Arachne). Probably missing some. Fun Fact: Cindy is in the MCU. She was Peter’s classmate. The asian girl. I know less about Miles’ universe (Earth 1610). But I remember that Jessica Drew is also Spider-Woman there, but in this universe, she is Peter’s female clone. Captain America keeps up with skill; he isn’t as strong as Spider-Man. Thor also holds back, and MUCH more than Peter. Thor can do shit like wrestle the World Engine, which is basically like wrestling multiple universes at once.

even Cap's best skills are useless in a serious fight with Spidey. his reflexes, including Spider-Sense, can't be matched by Cap in any way

@@leonardolonghi3472 Logically, yes. But he has somehow managed to beat Spider-Man even when he was using the Iron Spider suit. Just with skill. Which doesn’t make sense, because the sheer difference in speed plus the spider-sense should have made Peter win. Especially if he was enhanced by the suit.

@@g.masterlordoftheg-force4770 again, a "serious" Spider-Man wouldn't let him land a single hit I suppose you're referring to comic Civil War 1 fight, and that's regular restrained Spider-Man just wearing a fancy suit (which I consider as a restraint itself), definitely not "serious" if the writers had all their characters just be at their full potential the whole time, most stories would end after 3 pages literally any story involving The Hulk would immediately end, because Max Power Hulk is something that outclasses almost any being in the Marvel Universe (although, "Max Power Hulk" doesn't even exist, by Hulk's rules)

37:13 "It doesn't pay to be an uncle in the Spider-Verse." No, it usually doesn't. However, there have been timelines where Uncle Ben was bitten and Peter was still a little boy, or just other timelines where Uncle Ben was the one who got powers instead of Peter.

It's really hard to convey how important this movie is. The plot itself is good but it isn't anything special really, but the storytelling, the aesthetic, and the way they work together in perfect lockstep to convey the narrative... the strong opinions and creative freedom that allowed the production staff to pour their heart and soul into every single frame... this movie shook the industry to its very foundation. It showed execs what animation fans really want to see. Shooting for closer and closer realism in CGI isn't "pushing the medium of animation", it's avoiding the problem. You want to push the limits of animation? Make a movie like this. Pick a style you like, turn the style up to 11 and use it to convey the abstract in a manner that's intuitive and visually striking.

Also, not a lot of people realize this, but the Peter from Miles's universe is not *our* Spiderman. The second Peter is *our* Spiderman - his life is much closer to what actually happens in the mainline comics, and in some capacity I'm pretty sure he actually is meant to be earth 616 Peter, or at least very close. In the comic lore, Miles lives in the "Ultimate" universe, which is a parallel reimagining of the "canon" Marvel stories.

"Is Spider-Gwen the only Spider-Woman?" Well, there's Jessica Drew the Spider-Woman, Julia Carpenter was the second Spider-Woman (and second Arachne and second Madame Web lol), Mattie Franklin was a Spider-Woman, Aña Córazon eventually took on the name Spider-Girl, Cindy Moon goes by the name Silk, May "Mayday" Parker was (is?) a Spider-Girl. We've got a bunch of main dimension and alternate dimension spider-people aside from just Peter, like his surviving clones from the 90's.

28:04 I was wondering why Gwen met Miles before the collider exploded, because the explosion was what brought all the other Spider-people here to Miles' dimension. So I was left asking how she got there if the collider didn't send her there. But then she said "I was blown into last week, literally." She DID get sent in with that explosion, she just went back in time and met Miles the week before he got to meet everyone else.
