He was born to be on the radio and cheer us all up Which he absolutely did. Pure talent and graft and dedication. Bbc radio has a lot to be desired these days... look at all the presenters whos contracts were not renewed, given the boot or retired... Steve Wright will never be forgotten... we will talk about him and post memories of him and his shows and he will continue to make us smile. Lets hope there will be a huge statue or memorial to such a Great Guy.

As you get older, you begin to see your life becoming less and less relevant, because each year brings new heartache as you notice the people you grew up with, friends, relatives and of course celebrities becoming frail and in some cases they pass away. This is part of all our lives sadly, it’s just the way things are. Steve Wright was a huge part of my younger self and to know he has gone, well it saddens me greatly. As a young working man in the 80’s, I listened to Steve every day in the factory where I did my apprenticeship. I remember how we would all be in hysterics listening to him and his crew take on the many zany characters that brought tears of laughter to my eyes so often. Then in later years, his afternoon show on BBC2, a ‘slightly’ more matured Steve, but with all the warmth and humour intact. Just a wonderful guy in every sense. I know he was a bit of a tortured soul, as are many who open their hearts so freely and who give so much of themselves to others. I hope he has found peace now, and if there is a god, a heaven, I know Steve will be playing all his favourite hits there for eternity. God bless you Steve Wright.
