Troy joined the military as a fourth-generation Marine and deployed all over the world, including Afghanistan. Rather than face his traumas and challenges, he buried himself in work and began to use drugs and alcohol in an attempt to cope. His behavior got him into trouble and led him to Veterans Treatment Court. Talk therapy and a system of support helped him address his challenges, become sober, and be a positive role model for his children.
