I'm a Vietnam War veteran dealing with PTSD. I was self medicating using alcohol. It was messing up my life something awful and when our 4 year old son asked why I was being so crazy I decided right then and there that I would quit drinking. I now am 35 years sober and enjoying life. Welcome home brother and keep up the good work.

I got 3-4 concusions within 1 month. concusion was on the swing drop apparatus at airborne school, 2nd was on the night jump. My lateral speed was very high do to wind, my feet touched the ground and I smashed the back of my head on the ground. As soon as I graduated jump school my CO signed me up for combatives. I got knocked out by someone way bigger than me (I'm 215lb Lean) so that punch rlly dazed me. I saw a doc saying I felt sick and had severe headaches. He said I was fine and sent me back to comabtives. I took another hard hit to the head which put me out for 3 months. I was extremely I'll, vomiting, trouble balancing. I had rlly bad memory issues along with severe depression, suicidal thoughts and uncontrollable aggression. I lost 20lb of muscle, my social life due to headaches and agitation, and couldn't work for a while. I've physically recovered and gained all of the muscle hack but I'm still struggling mentally 6 months later. Every day is a battle with suicidal thoughts and anxiety.

I tried joining the Air Force when I was about 20 years old. I was a high school dropout and needed to take a test to be considered. I failed miserably......I struggled with reading comprehension issues and was held back in 1st grade because it. Fast forward to 2022 I decided to go in for some testing as I really wanted to be able to slow down my thoughts to enjoy reading a good book. I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 53. It may be to late for me, but I am so happy to see that others now have the support they need to make it.

I have PTSD from being punished with MST. However beacause the ones that did it to me covered it up, and charged me with being UA from it happening again, and being charged with "Filing a False Statement" for my efforts, and with all the trouble I got into from my undiagnosed and untreated PTSD symptoms, I get nothing but an OTH discharge. So when I see these videos of vets getting help and know it's all a big fat lie, it really pisses me off. This was the only VA MST video I could even find that comments were allowed. They tell you all about MST on the VA's page, but there is no place to comment or report it there. It's all a media show trying to change the truth that the military uses MST as punishment, and will do anything to hide that fact, and that will never change. I have repeatedly reported this even after I got out under the threat of death by 12 men, and life in the brig by my CO. They won't do a damn thing. All of the men involved got away with it and I'm still fighting to get benefits and maybe even a little justice. MST is still a tool used by the military to punish people.

Some years ago while serving in the Navy, some of my fellow shipmates kept being asked if I was a lesbian because I didn't respond to flirting or hit on any guys, including my male friends! Our Master-at-Arms who was, let them know that I wasn't.😅 *Looking back after my recent diagnosis with ASD level 1 led me to realize that I never understood 'flirting' or 'social signals' in general... * A year later, I was approached by an officer and sexually harassed, with my career threatened if I didn't comply! I reported the situation but nothing much happened to him! 😞 I had to pass him by daily to my work station with him smirking at me... There was some sexual harassment while I served in the Air Force as well, prior to transferring to the Navy.
