I spent a total of 7 years in and out of jail and prison in Orlando FL. I have 29 mug shots!!:I left prison in 2002, to return to Ohio where my Mom and Sisters were. 22 years later I have not used cocaine, drink alcohol or smoke a cigarette. I am a recovery and addictions counselor. I also Pastor small church. Would love to share my story with you. Thank you for sharing all the lives you have.

How is it possible ,this lady steals money and gets 20 years and a man ,who abused his niece for 10 years ,after her mom passed on when she was just 4....only gets 4 years in prison and is let out of serving his full sentence. How is her 20 years sentence fair ,compared with a much more henious crime of abusing a child for so long and hardly serving his sentence.

Wtf? That's such a wack statement. If you rob me for hundreds of thousands of dollars I hope you or anyone would get that much time. I don't care how corrupt the company is you steal that much money you should go away for that much time. If you really believe your comment your probably a criminal yourself. That's so fucked up. I am a small business owner and if you stole 50k I would try to make sure you got the max sentence. It's not a simple theft charge. It's felony theft of 300k. She seems nice but if you commit crimes you need to understand that you could go away for a good chunk of time

Blessings to this woman for sharing everything, her regrets, the awful consequences of her actions, the effect on her family....what a likable woman and I am grateful she's out and has been able to continue her life. Murderers get less than twenty every damn day. I am so against prison time for non-violent offenses. The problem is that United States prisons are privatized (a crime in and of itself) and every prisoner (ESPECIALLY all those - and there are thousands - who commit non-violent offenses) bring in a pretty penny from the federal government for each and every head that gets locked up. It's a totally sick and broken system. The fact that she kept getting rejected for parole year after year despite it being a non-violent crime and after being a "perfect" inmate all those years until she finally loses it, loses her hope and starts acting up IS WHAT THEY WANTED TO HAPPEN so that they could keep her in the system and collect the money. This process of rejection keeps the money flow going. This is a fact.

I made it to 44 mnutes and then decided that I’d had enough. No letter of apology to the people she stole from, no expression of sorrow for stealing from others. More of an attitude of “how I coped with prison.” No mention of God. No Bible study. A moral reprobate who is not ashamed but now makes a show of being in a lesbian relationship-which probably negatively affected her kids. And Ian is like oh what a nice love story. Hey Ian, it’s not a nice love story. It’s immorality paraded about.

Why should she not have gotten that much time? She stole over 200 thousand dollars.... That's a large amount of money to steal... She didn't shop lift 100 or even 500 bucks worth of stuff from a Wal Mart...She stole almost a quarter million dollars in cash from her employer. That actually is a pretty typical sentence for that level of theft. She also was doing bank fraud by opening fake accounts ( which she called kiting).

I guess it just depends on who you know and how much influence that person has with the prosecutors. My half-sister stole at least that much money from a nursing home she worked at as the Nursing Home Administrator. She was married to a Texas Game Warden, and he apparently had some kind of sway with the prosecutor. She was convicted of embezzlement, and her punishment was to repay the money she stole. She received no jail time or fine. They are allowing her to repay the stolen money at about twenty-five dollars a month. Even though she's a convicted felon, she is still able to live around and own guns because of who her husband was. She has also stolen money from my mother for years. She seems to get away with everything.

I live in Austin, TX. My heart goes out to her. Texas is not just Racist, it’s misogynistic. She was punished for her crime, her position in her podunk town, as a nobody and for stealing from a good ole boy. What a fantastic interviewer! I hope she writes a book!

I lived in TX for 11 years. Texas is Neither ‘racist’ nor misogynistic! Born and raised Texans treat women like ladies, the men carry grocery bags to the woman’s car, hold doors open for women, have a deep respect and admiration of women! The only people I met in Texas who were racist were from the Deep South; Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, etc. None of the ‘racist’ people I met were born and raised in Texas. I do, however, appreciate and understand your comment as you are an obvious liberal living in ‘progressive liberal’ Austin. All liberals think everything and everyone (except them) are racists and misogynists 🙄

Great interview Ian! Something I've noticed in a lot of your videos is a audio level mismatch between the intro and the interview.

I know someone that got parole for burglary and assault. There was a victim, he beat them up and stole their wallet . He gets to go to work and home every day.

In Australia, a murderer will probably get 10 years which is ridiculous. 20years for 200k? It’s crazy!

Thank you so much for sharing. It's crazy how you turn into a "typical inmate" as soon as you get there and good behavior didn't make you any better in their eyes and impossible to keep up for 10 years with your negative emotions and the structure of prison working against you. Glad you made it out.
