Despite coming from a good family and having all the advantages in life growing up, Nicole found her self surrounded by a world of drug addiction, crime & domestic abuse. It didn't take long to find herself sentenced to prison time where inmates gave her the nickname Barbie. Listen to Nicole tell her heartbreaking story and how she was able to overcome her addiction and build a better life.

I’ve known Nicole since the 3rd grade. She has always been an amazing person and friend. Unfortunately, I had to watch her go through this mess. I was sure she was going to die which she actually did a couple times! So glad she was able to pull herself out of it and is now back with us. Hell of a story and I’m happy to have been at least a part of it.

It was very important that you covered how her actions affected her children by both drugs and DV . This type of neglect and honestly abuse inevitably will affect them the rest of their lives. With that said, she’s a strong woman who has a very good personal story of perseverance and moving forward no matter. I thank her for sharing her story.

I survived something so eerily similar Nicole. I absolutely understand what you are saying. Been through hell and back. DV is no joke. Thank you for sharing this. It really is so hard to break away. I get asked all the time why i didn't leave sooner. I always respond, Where was i supposed to go? But i went to a shelter... then eventually got clean and remarried to my soulmate and best friend.

But so far...it's so weird what trick addiction is playing on a humans mind... like the live to suffer and repeating the same mistake over and over again. Viscous circle. Sometimes people might need the forced time out to get out of it. Rock bottom moment maybe.

She talks about what the human body goes through coming off that stuff but she's ALSO testimony to the resilience of the human, sitting there telling her story of such awfulness, such torture, and looking so gracious and ladylike with her nice hair and make up and tasteful clothes. I know people love JD Delay, and I do too, but I also like somebody who can come back out of these awful situations and be as polite and genteel and put back together as before, even if wiser and more understanding. I love how she looks like a suburban middle class lady gives a Real Housewives vibe, like she's lady-like plus. Not being clear.

I REALLY like this girl 💟 Having been stuck on methadone since 2006, I found her description of the suboxone detox heartbreaking (& it happens everyday in jails all over the US).
@joshuadill7849
@joshuadill7849 8 ай бұрын
Methadone was worse than suboxone. Methadone was like herion to me if not worse. Methadone withdrawals about killed me. I know it helps some, but most get 10 times more addicted to Methadone then herion. Its was so hard to get of Methadone. The clinic here would allow you to be one the dose you feel comfortable on. I went to 120mg a day. I saw other at closer to 500mg spilt doses. They were taking 250 mg split doses twice a day. So 500mg all together. Yes it does save some but its just as addictive. Scary.
@joshuadill7849
@joshuadill7849 8 ай бұрын
Suboxone worked the best, it dont have opiates in it like methadone. Suboxone has opiate blocker in it. Methadone is still an opiate. Methadone is pretty much synthetic herion. So pretty much pure herion with no cuts at all. PURE. im not saying Suboxone is the only answer but its a hell of alot more safer and better then methadone.

@patrickbrinkmeier1858
@patrickbrinkmeier1858 7 ай бұрын
@@joshuadill7849 ..... Suboxone absolutely has an opioid in it. It's called Buprenorphrine. That is a synthetic opioid. Now, I developed a massive opiate addiction that resulted from being hurt overseas while in the Marines. The doctors at the Veterans hospital had me doped to the gills for years. At one point I was getting morphine 100 mg pills 3 times a day, Dilaudid 8 mg 4 times a day, and got 180 roxicodone 30 mg pills for up to 6 times a day for breakthrough pain. One day I got a new do tor who told me I was on 2 much and she took everything away and put me in Vicodin 7.5 mg and only gave me 90 a month or 3 a day. I went into instant, severe withdrawal from now having such a small dosage from what I was on so I started buying pills off the street. That soon turned into heroin which was cheaper then buying pills. Finally I was speedballing and injecting heroin and cocaine at the same time just to kill my pain. I went to rehab and they put me on methadone. That worked awhile but when I went to get clean and the withdrawal was worse then anything else including heroin. I started using again and after another 2 years did rehab again. This time I did Suboxone. Suboxone was a Godsend. I was on Suboxone for almost 3 years and then quit it cold turkey. I never had withdrawal symptoms and it was the easiest thing in my life. April 27th, 2024 will mark 8 years clean for me. Suboxone saved my life. And I used it as directed and never once had a problem and quit it with no side effects. My doctor gave me a small supply after I told him I was quitting in case I had any symptoms. He gave me 8 of the strips and told me to call him if I needed more or if I had withdrawal. I brought all 8 of those back to his office and put them on his desk to give them back to him.

I’m sure you’ve heard this many times but 12 step programs work. I cleaned up 38 years ago in AA. People in the program are a pain in the neck but after time you will be free of your addiction and then make deep friendships. Eventually you will find that there is so much reward in helping others which is the opposite of what your addiction allows you. All the holding hands and shouting hi is crap and did not exist when I started but you have to get over it. I think God made a bargain with me at the start. « If you can put up with these people I will let you stay sober. « Good luck and get a service job as soon as you start.
