It is important to note that Tudor adds a thin layer of lacquer on the original Pelagos, I am with it. The font of the new bezel is thinner (your blue original Pelagos is actually with the new bezel as you can see by the thinner numbers and indexes) and has a very slight yellowish tint that is hard to notice but it is visible on this video. It is really subdued. This new bezel was created as a way to fix the falling indexes of the old one. Also on the fake it seems that the clasp and the position bar are misaligned. It shows it is on the 3d position but the ball is above it, not aligning with the index correctly. Also - I am yet to see a replica that can copy the distinguished bezel sound at noon.

You are correct on the disalignment of the fake. i did not knew about the lacquer. so the older versions pelagos was the one with sellita/eta movement i think. this one has the in house. curiours to have seen those old models. still its a very well made copy , not 100% of course but its really scary

@@WatchInTime Yes, if I was to purchase one without seeing it next to a genuine one, I'll most likely take the bait. I also have FXD, but not counting the Tactical Frog I don't recall having close reps

Good knowledge there. Respect. I thought the misaligned date was a big giveaway - especially for the hour hand being around 05:00/17:00 hrs. I also noted the indicator the clasp not matching the position of the on-the-fly adjustment

I reckon it costs Tudor around £50 to make one of these watches, rest is overheads and marketing.

Sad but true, and it's worse with Rolex or Omega.

Just shows how much we are being ripped off :( if they can make a watch so close for so little how much are the manufacturers making.....

That is a good question - lets talk about Rolex for example. Cost of production is suspected to be around 1-2 %of the price. Expense margin up to 5% between marketing, employees etc, the rest is all gain. In fact resellers have a margin around 50% of the Rolex price. Other watch companies its even less. So going back to the question, well of course the cost to produce a Tudor is low compared to selling price. But selling price is made of the market and in 1k market you find low quality compared to 3/4k Tudor plus manufacture movement hence they can permit theirselves the price point. Of course other factors the. Go in place. Other brands steel you more example glashutte or hublot or panerai… why? Well people are willing to pay, double for an eta watch. Funny? Its offer and demand that rule this things

@Watch InTime so true your spot on, the costs are crazy now. I have never known luxury watch manufacturers increase prices so much year on year this past decade. Think social status and insta flex is greater than ever so they can get away with it as demand is present. If people will pay these prices they will carry on raising, the madness must end soon though. If not a basic mass produced Tudor/Omega will be well over 10k due to compounding of the price every increase. A lot of luxury watches are not owned by rich people, its everyday working people and some often trying to look rich, they simply won't be able to afford.

@@WatchInTime This is a bit more complicated and complex than you’ve described. The upfront costs and perpetual expense associated with maintaining a functional business is astronomical. I’m not justifying retail price but rarely do resellers net 50% when dealing directly with the manufacturer.

@@2K9s ohhh i ageee fully, i oversimplify math just for the sake of writting in a comment on you tube. its a topic that opens hours of discussions. Rolex wouldnt be nor Tudor what they are without marketing expenses and sponsorhips they do. That is huge. Still there is a simple statement that i make. reseller of some brands, have a flexibility/gain of around 40-60% on the retail. authorized delaers. the rest goes to producer. obviously varies on brand to brand.

@@WatchInTime Totally agree and understand. I’m more of a net than gross, totality of circumstances, person but wish my budget would allow for millions of upfront costs to turn a healthy profit. Selling watches nowadays is an interesting business but can be a healthy one. *Thanks
