Tudor releases the same watch in a different color and people call it “boring”. Rolex releases the same watch in a different color and everyone loses their minds. Hypocritical

This is a youtuber problem, not a Tudor problem. Tudor now offer the opportunity to buy this nice watch in black, excellent. The release does not blow youtuber away. So what.

The Tudor FXD with the plain black dial and a divers timing bezel is perfection in a tool watch. A working watch for a working man. No fuss, no muss, just pure muscular perfection. Sad you can’t see it.

As someone who mostly have Rolex watches, I can salute and respect Tudor for what have been doing from afar. They are obviously the more fun and younger sibling that's more adventurous and bold that takes chances while Rolex on the other hand is just about being classic and safe and stable.

I picked up my FXD Black two days after it was released. I am absolutely stoked with exactly what they did and how they did it. I like that it is a bit subtle, and yet a big enough deal was made about it to bring attention to it. The fact that people may not understand or pay attention to the details is not Tudors problem. Those people are not who the watch was designed for anyway. Keep doing what you’re doing Tudor…..(I am sure Tudor will read this because Michael said they would😂).

Dear Michael, this time it's not Tudor... I'm sorry to say, but the problem is you weren't invited to the massive Florida FXD launch organized by Cole Pennington, and Tudor hasn't yet hired your company to make one of your beautiful documentaries. The black FXD is fine, it's just the black version (the US Marines I guess?!) of the blue French one. So what?! They don't have to be reinventing the wheel. Maybe there was some over expectation generated, I agree. I bought the FXD black this past week and love it. I own 6 other Tudors and also didn’t know the FXD was being released but happened on it and bought immediately. Great timepiece.

The Glycine Combat Sub is 42x50 which sounds huge but is very wearable, first because of a great case, then because it's under 11mm thick!!

How amazing would it be if the next trend in social marketing wasn’t flexing your expensive watch in front of the steering wheel of your expensive car but, instead, featured videos and photos of people doing cool stuff with their watches (flying, diving, climbing mountains). That would be so much better for everyone I think.

I absolutely love my Black Bay 58. I bought it after considering the 54 that had just come out. I appreciated greatly there being different BB options, seemingly something for everyone. I thought I was done with Tudor, or at least for a log while, since I had other brands on my list. I never considered a Pelagos. When I was shopping for the BB I decided between them quickly. And thought it was done. Then the new black FXD came out, I know I need to have one. Why? Because it’s NOT blue (I have a blue Seamaster Heritage), and it’s different enough from the BB 58 that I will never worry about having two Tudors. The straps are also slick. I think you and Britt are missing how Tudor makes their way from flashy to making a great Watch model work for many of us. They’re going to sell tons of the black FXD. To people like me, who never once thought about buying a fixed watch. To people who liked the fun blue ones but realized they themselves weren’t fun enough to pay thousands for one, but love the more sophisticated look of the black one.

Interesting that you mention story telling as advertisements, and that Rolex would not do it , but they used to, with the vintage adverts for example - flying Concorde and needing a GMT, or climbing Everest and needing an Explorer…

Based on their track record, Tudor has mass produced most of their Only Watch submissions, but with slight variations. The BB ceramic got better legibility and the Tudor Bronze got a right handed movement. I’m hoping Tudor reissues the Oyster Prince Date in steel after this year’s submission.

As someone who is going through puberty in my 40’s I appreciate your Harry’s stories. What makes the Tudor FXD so lit is the fact that everything about it has a purpose. That said, Tudor, make a non-texted out version (I want to read the time not a book). Cheers!

The reason why divers are such a popular genre is their practicality. I'm sometimes even careful when washing my hands wearing vintage, which isn't ideal. Just try shaving with Harry's with your vintage Omega on 😂

I don't think Tudor have done anything wrong here. It's a small release, and the KZfaq and Instagram people respond. It's not a re-design of the whole wrist watch concept. But they haven't promised that. I think the public are happy to see something new. So the circle completes and everyone's happy? ........ hopefully. We miss Christian too.

Gee... you really can’t see that the bezels between the blue and the black are different? One is countdown bi directional and the other is normal unidirectional.

Film of the 1920s was highly developed into a “niche” thing which, by that I am assuming you mean commercial narrative cinema. What you are referring to is films from the mid 1890 to roughly 1907 which tended to showcase non narrative driven scenes.

I own a Tudor and I own many Rolex watches. The only reason I do not buy more Tudor watches is that lack of a date complication on most of their releases. I hope they start releasing some 40MM or smaller diver dates soon. I will surely be a buyer.

Tudor releases new colour and gets all the press, longines releases the best new gmts, dress watches, sports chronos and are getting little to no press. Longines really doin more than the rest rn

Tudor: I was surprised and dismayed to learn that the Black Bay dive watches have *no* manual micro-adjustment. That is just unacceptable on a dive watch at that price. The only Tudor dive watch that has this is the Pelagos.

U guys make cool films but I don’t think the brands need to supplement with a story. Demand isn’t really a huge issue at the moment for watches. It’s cooled off but the hobby is still at an all time high

I'd like to see you talk about the Tudor 1926. I've had one in 36mm, black dial for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it.

Rolex in the 20th century was ahead of the game. Make well built and reliable watches with marketing that was ahead of everyone. The marketing put them over the top and it’s been so engrained in public minds that’s all they need now. There are better made watches than Rolex but everyone sees them as “the best” now. They didnt rest on laurels at first until the marketing was all they needed. Now in the 2020s with Rolex off on its own, the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation is trying to make Tudor just as hyped as Rolex through marketing alone INSTEAD of new diversified designs coupled WITH top tier marketing. Thats a mistake. Tudor can’t grow unless they innovate. I say this as someone who owns a Tudor. Being just the cool vintage diver company with marketing won’t elevate them.

Just bought me a Black Bay Pro a couple of days ago. The dial is plain and boring and all but coupled with the super comfortable wearing experience and the sub half a second daily accuracy, it makes for a dream daily watch. It doesn’t scream its presence , nor does it intimidate / attract unwanted attention. Also, somehow my significant other is crazy about it, she cant stop complementing how good it looks on my wrist. Maybe boring is not actually bad?

This was just what I wanted in the FXD. I hate them bc I’m going to have to buy this asap. Clearly they know their target market!

I think Tudor is overdoing it, as they did with the BB lines. Love the BB and Pelagos (own them) but it’s akin to the car manufactures when the difference in yearly models is simple aesthetic changes, like the light moldings….just enough “change” to release a “new” model (yet not so much)

I bet what you say and agree. I think Tudor get away with it because more than a dial/bezel color change they paid with an array of straps, so they sell a new way to style a watch.

Tudor used to be the poor man's Rolex and is now what Rolex used to be.... It's like owning a VW and talking about Bentley and Bugatti all the time.

Tudor's move to making most of their new models stupid dinky little things is the biggest shot in the foot. An FXD at 43mm would be bang on, 41mm is a touch too small. The tiny 38-39mm ones are ok I guess for little people but most people expect a full-size watch these days, not a boys' size toy.

I have the fxd with the bidirectional bezel, and I love it. I don't know why everyone goes on about uni being an improvement. The fxd was supposedly designed with the marine nationale, but youtubers who dont use the bezel except for 'clicks' seem to know better... go figure. Disappointed that tudor went with the desk divers.

The FXD is a tad too big for me. I own the BB58 (Navy) and it is by far the best proportioned watch I have bought in a long time, including the new Rolex Sub.

Watch buyers as a community seem to be quite conservative in their taste. Even if media loved North Flag during it's release, no-one was really buying and it was soon cancelled. I did get mine in half the price of used BB at the time. I really love 00's designs like Iconaut, aeronaut and hydronaut... What I mean this is that Tudor has had some bold designs in past 20-years, only issue has been that no-one has been buying any of those watches. No-one is not even talking about these watches...

tudor navy seal watch? probaly not on these days, the gshock are the most common watch now a days for any military, a digital watch is far superior for task, also is expendable.

As far as Swiss watches, Im really liking the Zenith El Primer 36000 Chrono Sport right now, Im a Seiko boy Bruh, besides a VC 222, them El Primero is G.

Is the first FXD the original? Or not? I thought it was created especially for yhose franch navy guys, in collab. If now, in black, it's a recreation of something used by another navy since the 50', what's the original anymore?

what i want from tudor, other than clarifying their collection, is a dive watch with the proportions of the black bay 58/pelagos 39 with a date window. black with white lume and silver indeces with a framed date window that is the same colour as the lume. please!!!

Tudor is boring in terms of their Black bay collection. It's too safe. But the changes they have made with the Pelagos is a fresh breath in my opinion. FXD is a huge step up from the original.

I desperately want Tudor to release a refresh of the BB Pro, but with inverted colors. White, luminous ceramic dial with fully blacked out markers and hour/min/sec hands. Icy blue 24hr hand with blue lume. Nick name it the Polar Ice or Black Ice or whatever. It would SLAY. Drop the rivets and thin it down too, I’d you have a minute 😂

I definitely agree on the marketing side. I hadn't seen any of the hype up material before the release so when I saw the watch I just thought it looked good, I kind of hope they take the same exact formula to rev the regular Pelagos 42 on the bracelet. Everybody else though, in every comment section or Reddit thread, was nothing but "BORING" "MEH" "(mockingly) SO INVENTIVE". If they hadn't tried to hype it up like it was going to be something big, it's just a nice watch.
