Another well reasoned and measured analysis. I can't say enough about how much brothers like you are appreciated for your work & insight. As for this album (and the run Nas has been on) I am mostly in agreement with your thoughts. He seems to have found the perfect formula for engaging production, sharp & quick witted lyricism, keeping his message real or uplifting & still having that unique Nas "flavor" to it all, across these four projects. I absolutely went crazy when I heard that sample on Legit lol. Lupe Fiasco has been one of my favorite MCs for a good while now & I can seriously tell why he looks up to an artist like Nas after hearing these albums. Nas has found the perfect collaborator. When a writer does this, it's unstoppable. That, paired with Nas finally being in a space where he has nothing else to prove has been the key. I'm gonna express myself. Happy to be part of the analysts. KD3 is the best for me. It takes me back to, It was Written. NAS was in his bag then. Post Illmatic, it felt like he was writing Revelations. KD3 feels like some post Revelations anthology. Hitboy cooked!@ Personally this is the AOTY. That's just my background and growing up on Nas. Kendrick and Black Thought cooked this year. But Nas had me with the mean face the whole time. Its a perfect album and I'm happy I waited this long to bump it and experience it. What a time to be alive. Peace.

The amazing thing about Nas and this album is that even after 30 years, he’s still rapping like he has something to prove. And then pulling the J. Cole route with no features?! Come on man!!!! That’s insane that he’s still at this caliber. And the entendres that you discover with more listens, fucking incredible. Great flipping video. I’m giving you your flowers 💐 while you’re here. When Nas said he was in rare form on KD2, I believed him. My personal 🐐 had me stank facing at work and I had chill before I got in trouble. Far as where I rank his work with Hit-Boy, I'm leaning more towards your list the more I listen to KD3. First time I heard Nas was It Ain't Hard To Tell. I was a more of a clay boy back then. Our class song was I Can and listening back to that song today at work conjured up memories of high school. Between Nas, Black Thought, Freddie, JID, Push(and if you want to include Kendrick) picking album of the year is pretty tough and we still got a month left. Great piece my brother. Good to see you're in good spirits.

Love the breakdown. Right now I'm sitting at 1. Magic 2. KD2 3. KD3 4. KD but this album is so heavy that I'm going to have to sit with these bars for a while to digest them. Also I interpreted Nas reflecting on his beef with Hov and this album run as him still competing with Hov in a friendlier way even now. Everyone and there mama talking about Hov's verse this year and got him in their GOAT conversation while Nas got sidelined for a while. I would love to see an updated goat list for you sometime as well, if anything has changed in the last 5 or so years

Damn it Justin you got me again! I'm 40, and Nas has been my favorite rapper for the last 20 something years. So I was hanging on every word you were saying in this video. I respect your opinion because you are a stand-up guy and explain everything you think logically and even though I can respectfully disagree on some things, nonetheless I'll always value your perspective. At the end of the video when you ask what more does he have to prove, I'm like "yeah Jus, yeah, what does he have to prove?!" Waiting for your response like a dummy, then comes the infamous "I don't have the answer to these questions"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 It's all happening!

He mentioned Junior Mafia too although I'm not too sure of the context. Super shocked by the Glorilla mention. The girl is on her way..... At first I thought the album was giving me King's Disease one vibes. I wasn't too impressed by the first one but man was I wrong on III. I put it away for a couple days but when I finished it, I was blown away. Loved everything from II on to this one. Beef was CRAZY!! I don't think Nas is retiring anytime soon but I'd be interested to know where he goes from here. I can't see him exclusively working with Hit Boy for the rest of his career but it'll be interesting to see how things unfold over the years.

My ranking: Kings Disease III Kings Disease II Kings Disease I Magic I like Magic, but to me it feels more like a collection of songs, a bit more lighthearted (probably easier to consume for someone who doesn't listen to Nas thatt much). While KD series have been more layered. And with each instalment it gets better.

When I hear Nas rap I asked myself what argument can you even make against him being the best, I feel in terms of skill(flow and rhyming) storytelling, metaphors, he really is the greatest. Would you agree? What do you feel like is the measure for the greatest? PS my top 5 Nas, Andre3000, Jay Z, Em and Biggie, when it comes to skill I personally feel you cannot compete with them. On that album run thing, Billy Woods. One could argue, it started with 2012s History Will Absolve Me. Then came Dour Candy, Today I Wrote Nothing, Known Unknowns, Hiding Places, Terror Management, Brass, Athiopes and Church. Not to mention his run with his duo Arman Hammer (w/Elucid) There you have a 4 album run as well. Rome, Paraffin, Shrines and Haram. Everything dude touches turns to gold.

1. I Just put the album on and let it play. I didn't even realize there are no features on it. Not many people today can drop an album with no features and it would be dope. Rappers today can't hold your attention like that by themselves. That you shows how ill this album is. It's fire 🔥! 2. I actually agree with you I always thought the takeover was a better diss track than either. " You made it a hot line, I made it a hot song" .

Perhaps I need to listen to KD3 a little more, but as it currently stands…I’ve got KD2 as the best album of these last 4-and it is by the slimmest of margins. “EPMD2”, “Store Run”, “Moments” and “Composure” took me back to the hood in a way that I wasn’t expecting. Like Pac said on “My Block”: “I close my eyes and picture home”. That’s the impact that Nas has! ✊🏾
