Scotty my 2014 Camaro SS , motor seized up a month ago , a mechanic told me that because they couldn’t turn the crank , that the motor locked up , because it started shaking and then stopped completely and the indicator said ( service stabiiltrack ) and I wanted to know if I can check it another way before I buy another LS3 motor to replace the old one , please let me know

Folks don't know there cars...GM has alot of products that are good. GM V8 and some other V6 engines is the best compare to other makers. Fords had problem with there 5.4 V8 and those Diesel engines. And they have EcoBoost engines that are not good at all. And they put those in there SUV!!! So I'm sorry but GM has more better engines

GM has a lot of good vehicles from the past 20 years. Pretty much anything with a v8 is a good choice, some with a v6, but stay away from the turbo vehicles. I'd also avoid anything from the recession era 08ish body styles. Pretty much any heavy duty truck/van is as solid and reliable as it gets.

unfair sanic magnetic ride control is not just on the corvette .. the camaro has it also , And all of GM v8s are really good like the 5.3 and the 6.2 .. the 6th gen camaro platform is one of the best platforms in the world , I llove mustang, but can’t argue that around a track the 6th gen camaro , is competing/beating , the entire bmw , M line up , Every Lexus F series , most Porsche’s , every AMG .. GM makes good Full size products , like There Tahoe, Yukon , suburban , corvette , Camaro , Silverado .. ETC

Hunter Basselite their LS engines are hands down one of the best pushrod v8 engines if not the best but honestly the rest of their lineup is pure garbage. if i had a choice for pickup and an SUV i’d definitely take an expedition and f-150 over anything chevy.

Zhila Muhammed I definitely wouldn’t take a expedition over a Tahoe lol .. a Tahoe RST can come in a 6.2 ... and a Tahoe is built better overall feels more sturdy when you’re driving , my mom has a 2020 Ford Expedition king ranch ecoboost .. it’s nice , but she tells me she misses her Tahoe haha , first Ford for her .. her Tahoe has 140k it was a 2015 , never a single problem .. 5.3 ecotech , is such a Slept on engine , don’t make much power , but it’s a MULE .. thing got flooded in hurricane Harvey and Imelda and still ran strong

Yep! The two most common vehicles you see it in are the Corvette, at lease since the C5 and the Tahoe and Suburban. The two vehicles, at least at my dealership, that we see the least problems with. And when there are problems, it's never the magnetic ride control.

Suspensions are commonly modeled as spring, mass, damper systems. This results in a second order linear differential equation. The beauty of linear equations is that it is possible to readily determine stability. Magnetic ride control allows you to electronically adjust the damping.

Those shocks started the year I ordered my first vet, 2000. I got a Denali 6.2 pickup, because of the 6.2 and the mag. shocks. The new V series caddy has them also. The gen1s didn't but handled like a dream

one night I saw a...MG I think it was, run into the back of a jeep. Now this is 40, 50 years ago. The MG or triumph or whatever it was bent its front end, the jeep had a scratch on the bumper that was the other car's paint, it rubbed off.

@@richsweeney1115 the majority of ford engines don't have push rods is all I'm saying. And the best ford engines imho are the pushrod engines so yeah just that page from chevy and the page where you design an engine so it's simple to work on!

Yes, physics play into surviving crashes. Not only size but center of gravity. My uncle was tapped in the rear by an Explorer, fishtailed spun out into the freeway median. The Explorer also lost control and ended up on its roof. My cousin in his subcompact Toyota spun out in the rain and hit a van and SUV. Brother wasn't injured, the other two were. SUV careened off the freeway and down a ditch. So small cars may not fare well in head on collisions but seem less likely to flip over in accidents between cars going the same direction (the more likely scenario since roads with traffic in opposite directions tend to be separated by a physical barrier at least where I live).

Since the introduction of the C5, Corvette has been a stone cold winner. I had a '72 LT1 for 15 years, sold it for 3 times what I had in it.

Scotty, I think you overlooked that when converting to electric, the computers in your car will go beserk. So, you need a completely new set up for hardware and software to control your secondary systems (climate control, ABS, ESP, Airbags etc etc.)

Bigger vehicles might fare better in head on or side collisions, but because they're bigger, ride higher, and are generally owned by people who don't know how to handle them at high speeds, they have a greater chance of flipping and rolling on the highway. There's always a trade off.

Those Magnetic Ride Control shocks don't last. They will WILL go bad at 100 ~ 120,000 miles and cost $450 a piece. You'll get a service warning when they start leaking that won't go away. They are still somewhat serviceable; more like perpetually on tour. But the warning will bug you into replacing them. I know I had them in the CTS VSport.

They will make money on the service and the options. Priced one out in Canada and taking the base model and adding the packages/options just about doubles the price.

GM assigns their collective overhead cost based on the number of units sold meaning that large production runs has much smaller assigned cost per car. Small volume cars have no chance of making money.

There *are* well-engineered small cars that perform well in crash tests (i.e., VW New Beetle). Small cars are lighter, benefitting acceleration, braking and handling. Yes, you'll lose in a physics battle with an Excursion...but with less weight to stop you may avoid colliding with that Excursion altogether.

And a lot of people don't like the look of teslas, personally I hate the look of them as to me even a prius has better style in my opinion and I don't like those ether, plus with all the body panels having issues and if anything does go wrong on a tesla, well you treat it like a iPhone and throw away the car as repairs are more than the vehicle. I will never buy a tesla for that single reason as I would like to have my vehicle to not have issues with body panels, repairs, and plus you can costumize a normal car while teslas look all the same. I like the concept of tesla and dont hate electronic vehicles, but I hate tesla as a company as it has some very anti consumer practices, and the employee turnover rate is higher that a child labor factor in the gilded age. Also I have driven a tesla and found it to be quite underwhelming and boring. Cool there is a Ipad as a dash and radio, but in my eyes it only serves as a big distraction. Ps- I know I have typos and misspelled words, give me a break I am typing on a phone.

Dude,,,,,, Scotty, we were on Deployment over in California (from Yuma, AZ), for work,, and one of our guys drove over his own Toyota Tacoma P/up,,,,,,,,,, while we were at work,,,,,, someone came over to the hotel, and "REMOVED"(STOLE): His entire pipe from just north of the cat, to the end of the pipe........... can you believe it? I couldn't ,,,,, never heard anything so crazy..........

This adjustable suspension in the Vette must have improved . My car had this system but I couldn't really feel the difference when it was on or off.

I put racing seat belt in my one ride and got hit in snow storm and was totaled I walk away without scratch I was pushed into Simi and have mid size car and faired great however airbag didn't go off so hit steering wheel causing alot injuries

Not a big surprise here, for the most part C6 & C7’s are very reliable and built solid ! GM really assembled their A team of engineers & designers in the Corvette lineup. Most of all the reviews on KZfaq don’t show any faults with either models, except valve issues in C6

thinking about getting a 1) BMW i8 or 2) Corvette C8 they both look amazing but what’s “better” both around the $60K range. Corvette has the nice engine, removable top, whilst the BMW has the good looks and sexy doors.

i think the i8 is electric, and the corvette is gasoline. so if you're comparing those two, you have to decide whether you want gasoline or electric

I've been waiting on Scotty's review of the mid engine C-8 Vette. It's a special made car by GM. In a normal year, they may produce what, maybe 35,000-40,000 Vettes, it's the only vehicle made at GM's Bowling Green KY plant. If course this year, they had the UAW strike, then Covid-19 shut them down awhile. It's a long time dream of Zora Arkus-Duntov to put the engine in the middle of the car. Harley Earl was the original designer of the Corvette.

My Granny work in quality control in the 60s (basically watch GM lose several people’s jobs shutting down their gotta plants, forgive me if I get some of these details wrong haven’t heard this story since I was 7. Granny said when she was growing up a three on tree Chevy truck was a solid vehicle, in fact it’s how her and the rest of her sibling learned to drive. It was described to men as a Tank, in the sense It always started and everything was super heavy. Chevys quality started to go downhill in the early 70’s for sure started using cheaper parts and, they were dropping a lot of the GM workers.

Electric cars will never be popular until they can get the recharge time down to about the same as filling the tank with gasoline, or at least something reasonable, a half hour tops. They are fine for city driving where you don't rack up a lot of mileage, go to work, come home, plug it in. I don't get why electric cars don't have solar voltaic panels in the roof and such. They could do a minimal recharge while they're sitting in the parking lot at work, probably as much as was used to get to work depending on that distance. Another thing that has to happen is charging stations will have to be as common as gas stations. The electric cars can go cross country, but your route and time taken are dependent on where charging stations are.
