Yeah normally you get the impression the actors don't want to be there. You see the pained expressions on their faces when they are asked a predictable and obvious question for the 4000th time on the press your. Here he is so well researched and able to surprise Chris and bring him into unexpected happy recollections of filming .... You can see the actor come alive and enjoy the process as a result

This can't be it, because in the universe WW is set all the greek gods except Zeus were murdered by Ares. Zeus then used what was left of his power to create Diana so that she could kill Ares. So it's a nice theory because it means Steve is actually alive albeit different, but impossible unless they do some retconning.

@apseudonym
@apseudonym 2 жыл бұрын
It's very good advice for an actor on a big budget sci-fi film where time is money. You can't of course apply that logic to every situation when you're a director. JJ has a habit of patronizing his audience and maybe he is like that to his actors also. He is not an actor's director by any means. But sometimes you just need the actor to say their lines.
@mattjacobson5774
@mattjacobson5774 2 жыл бұрын
@@apseudonym I don't buy that. A director can make time for a conversation about the scene with his lead actor. I can't imagine Chris needed every single one of his lines explained to him. He's being paid a lot of money not just to say the lines, but say them well.

Depends on the movie and the dialogue. I mean, for a science heavy blockbuster like star trek, the actor doesn't really have to understand every word of the dialogue. He just needs to convey to the audience the emotion of what it means. The same for medical dramas on tv. I wouldn't expect the actor to understand everything they're saying. But as long as I know the stakes of a scene, I'm good. 🤷🏻‍♀️

*"It doesn't matter. You just run on and you say it as fast and as urgently and as earnestly as possible and no one's gonna care what you're saying and no one's gonna care because all the audience is gonna know is 'Something's happening! Something's happening!"* Gee... and people wonder why old time Trek fans have no use for "New Trek."

I’m sad there won’t be another Star Trek with him, but watching him talk about it makes me feel like he didn’t enjoy it much in the first place. I mean that example with J.J. telling him he doesn’t have to understand his lines.... if you care at least a bit about your craft, that feels shit. Like a client expecting the finest cake but giving you old, cheap ingredients 😒

there won't be another Star Trek with him?? Oh no 😣 but he and the rest of the cast are what revived and expanded the Trek fanbase. "Into The Darkness" was my fave of all 3 ST movies.... And the ending is unresolved because Khan is still alive, in cryochamber...

I hate the fact that JJ told him it doesnt matter. It's really disrespectful to film fans who pay attention to details and to actors who want to cater to that audience. It shows a lot of condescendence to movie goers in general. As an actress, I'd be pissed.

I thought he was as close to Shatner's Kirk as you could get. The only thing is, he should have worn brown contracts, as Shatner has brown eyes.
