Chop Suey is my favorite song and has been for quite a while. I see some people suggested Slipknot and that is a must, "The Devil In I" is a really great one that is hard hitting because it came after the death of a member, some other good ones "Sulfur", "Psychosocial", "Duality", "Before I Forget"

The sound you said liked in the very beginning is called a guitar tremolo. A tremolo is, at least in this instance, a sort of wavering, trembling sound obtained by playing rapid reiterations of the same note...and well, it is played on a guitar in this instance, so a guitar tremolo. In theory, it is a very simple effect to achieve, but in practice takes a lot of skill, endurance, and good technique to sound clear and clean for any length of time.

This song was originally named "Suicide" but then 9/11 happened right before they released it and the label made them change it. Someone suggested they "chop" the name in half to suey so they said ok "chop suey". It is also worth to note this song is about suicide awareness and that even the happiest person you know could be dying inside and contemplating taking their own life.

If we analyze the Title "Chop suey" if we know the dish itself, it is a mixture of vegetables, meat, seafood especially squid and shrimp and species, and sometimes fishball is put in there and cornstarch as stew thickener. The song's transition in melodies and the lyrics are all mixed up.

Literally pausing @1:00 - you should check out Trivium! They’ve been around since 2003, and are kind of at a mid-game spot I’d say. Meaning they’re known, but not a hugely popular band. They are super good though and about to release their 9th album later in April. They’ve released 2 single off the album though “Catastrophist” and the title track “What the Dead Men Say”. Maybe jump on one of those for a reaction and then if you dig it, check out some of their back catalogue. They have some good stuff; heavy and melodic!
