The absolute worst way to watch any movie is on your phone

I had the pleasure of seeing DUNE in iMax 70mm... IT WAS GLORIOUS!

Having mist blown at your face while watching a movie where water is so scarce would be a bit immersion breaking. Now, if they replaced the water with sand that gets blown in your face? That's how you get people immersed!!

Now they just need to mix 70mm film and 4DX and have a true experience.

Even wearing glasses, the water isn't crazy enough to condense. 4DX is best for Avatar, transformers, Top Gun

Agree 110% with the video. I saw it early in IMAX full aspect ratio, then I saw it in 4DX, and then once again, just tonight, on ScreenX. I enjoyed all 3 but in that order. IMAX to watch it's true form, but riding the sandworm in 4DX made me audibly laugh with thrill multiple times. Really fun.

I was trying to explain to a friend that if a movie is shot for IMAX you need to watch it in full IMAX. He did not understand.

I think Top Gun: Maverick is at the top of a very short list of movies that work in 4DX.

I remember having this debate for Top Gun Maverick, people telling me that 4DX was so cool ... but 70 mm imax is so rare, I only can see films in fake fake Imax it's always a nice experience even if with Dune I could clearly see some of the shot was missing. I usually go for Dolby Cinema ... and Imax if I know the movie has a 1,9 aspect ratio for digital Imax. The weird thing is that a lot of digital imax screens have a 1,77 aspect ratio so it's not even fake fake imax. I agree that 4DX is for when you've already seen the movie.

I tried to see Avatar 2 in 4dx and spilled even in the trailers and left the movie opening scene on the helicopter

I drank a 500mg thc drink, went to see Godzilla v Kong a new empire in 4dx thinking I was going to have an awesome time high, but I was way to stoned, slumped, paranoid, some of the monsters were freaking me out and after a while I was over the movement in the seats. Don’t get too high and go to a 4dx movie!

It's 'Dune' not 'Doon'. You need to pronounce the 'U'/'you' sound as you pronounce the 'D' sound. Be careful not to say 'June', it's 'Dune.'

I saw Top gun maverick in 4dx and it was amazing. Thought about watching Dune 2 in 4dx but decided not to because I wanted to experience it the way Villeneuve intended. Which is full Imax.

I went with a couple friends and kept laughing everytime the seats shook. Almost fell out twice but it was hilarious

Dune 2 wasn't filmed on Imax 70mm. It was filmed on Digital Arri LF Imax 1.90 aspect ratio. Dune 2 was released in Imax 70mm in certain scenes with Post affects to add the 1.43 full 70mm aspect ratio. Dune 2 was filmed for a whole 1.90 not 1.43.

Top Gun Maverick was kinda neat in 4dx, but I thought it was a bit.... aggressive.

Decades ago when Paramount owned theme parks they had a Days of Thunder movie ride that was basically this on steroids. It worked well but it was only a few minutes long; however, the idea that someone thought that should be converted over for feature length movies is just... wild.

I saw Capt America: winter soldier 4DX and it was amazing. When they thawed out Bucky it blew chilled mist at me, when Cap is grabbing the helicopter, it blew air at me. Really neat effects.

Went to watch dune p2 at 10:30 Pm in IMAX. Didn’t leave till 1:30AM and I enjoyed every minute

I booked a 4DX screening by mistake two days before the screening but thought 'what the heck I'll give it a go'. I lasted 5 minutes. Luckily there was an IMAX screening that started 10 minutes after in the theater next door and the staff had catered for 4DX drop outs.

Watched it second time on DBOX, it was fun tbh

Seen it first time in Dolby, 2nd time normal/standard, and imma go a 3rd time in IMAX 70mm. This movie was fire 10/10, much better than the first one

Hollywood totally needs to bring back SENSURROUND! You haven't lived until you have had ENORMOUS subwoofers in back of you.

I personally prefer Dolby Cinema at AMC for the sound over IMAX but if I can find an IMAX that shows the 70mm or laser with that aspect ratio I will try to watch it like that too but as you mentioned it is tough to find that. I am going to watch it in 4DX tomorrow and it will be the first time I watch a movie in that format but it should be fun. Thanks for the heads up on not recommending to get food or drinks for the rollercoaster.

Not long ago I saw Godzilla Minus One in 4DX. I loved the film but definitely disliked the 4DX experience. I do not intend to take a motion ride, have puffer jets blasting past my ears, into my face, or sprays of water. I want to WATCH and LISTEN to the film that the filmmaker created. Anything else is gimmicky BS suitable for 50s Pulp Sci Fi cinema. I saw Dune 2 in 70mm IMAX and was AWED. The visuals and the sounds combined to immerse me in the world without distracting me by trying to toss me off a mechanical bull or spitting in my face. I absorbed ALL of the cinema experience. Never again for 4DX.

Its too bad that American has to ruin 4dx by just over doing it. I saw a film in 4dx in Japan years ago and it was so much more subtle and enjoyable

I watched the whole movie in 4dx first time. They could tone down everything by 50% and it would be fine. Or give us seat belts lol

I love 4DX 😂 There was a string of bad movies i watched in 4DX and they were made less bad due to 4DX effects.

I saw it at an RC Theater with their knockoff 4DX called RCXtreme, which was just some chair vibrations linked to the bass. It was interesting, only a few times did it get annoying, some people had their car keys in the cupholders and it was shaking around. Ugh. Either way, I have to drive like 2 hours to get an iMax movie, so it was the best option I had.

I wanted to watch it in this format just for fun but im glad i didnt, i think ill pop my cherry for godzilla & kong

in my town the best we could do was 2k scope for dune the other options were Dune 2k letterbox we dont have IMAX at all.

Yeah.. Problem is that movie was not shot in Imax Format, but in Widescreen.. Alexa 65 has a 2:1 Widescreen sensor. Almost 16:9 The Imax Version you saw was cropped on the sides..

I've seen Dune: Part Two three times. I've seen in in IMAX twice. I saw it in IMAX Laser cuz IMAX 70mm is way too far away. I'm pretty sure I saw it in the full IMAX aspect ratio, just the 4k digital versus 18k film. Still looked and sounded phenomenal. I also saw it in Dolby. It's still an incredible experience, it just isn't quite as good without the full IMAX image and the IMAX sound was better than Dolby Atmos except for speech was clearer in Dolby.

I've watched Dune: Part2 by 2D(Laser: don't know what it is..😅) / IMAX / 4DX. Should I watch by Dolby and complete.....? Cos after watching 3 times, I have no confidence to watch it again.. While I've watched the movie, The Reader 6 times in a theater...

When she slapped Paul in the face Zendaya turned into a sourpuss which p*** me off no end. That face she pulled every time we saw her. I'm glad he ditched her..what a B ! Despite that I watched it twice for the visuals

I watched "Avatar: The Way of Waterin" in 4DX. I had to clean water droplets on my 3D glasses after every scene that took place in water, wich is most of the film. Some of the water even got into my eyes. The seats moving almost constantly became annoying really fast. The scents were similar to ugly floral air fresheners. It was as if everything conspired to break my immersion in the film. Never again.

So optimal viewing for kung fu panda 4?

I watched it with my 2 best friends who hated dune 1. they only complained and one even fell asleep during the first part. so when we watched dune part 2. I was already enjoying it, whilst they both kept making comments and laughing every scene baron harkonnen showed up. So whilst I enjoyed the movie and cant stop praising it a week later. but when the movie ended i excitedly asked "so, did you enjoy the movie?" they both said "it was ok" I was devastated. and my mood was quickly soured. so next time, I'm gonna watch it myself.

There is literally two 70mm prints outside of North America.... and one is in my city. So anyway I'm seeing Dune Part 2 for a third time this week...

I watched Dune Part 2 in 4D the day it came out. Holy shit, I cannot stress enough how immersive and awe-inspiring the experience is. It may sound cheesy and stupid when talking about bouncing seats and wind, but it genuinely envelops you into the world with the worm movement, the ornithopter wind blowing against you, and explosions literally flashing into your face. It is amazing!

Oh, man, I did not know what I was walking into when I bought 4DX but it was not good. My wife and I both walked out laughing and I promised her we’d never do 4DX again. 😅 luckily it was our 2nd time watching Dune and really this was just a way to see it in a new way, but the novelty wears off quick. It is just too bouncy for us. When you want to concentrate on details on the screen the seat just rocks all over the place and spits out your drink all over. Again, its a novelty and probably a good way to watch a forgettable popcorn movie, the fast and furious movies or an action movie with a goofy plot. That ScreenX also I did not care for either. Standard is the way to go if you cannot see it on a Imax screen.

My first 4DX experience was for the Batman I bought tickets for accidentally. I was like ok .... Jesus Christ worst fucking thing ever . Getting sprayed by misy I got through 10 minutes and said fuck this never again
