It will probably please you to know, that in the books, Arthur Weasel DID punch Lucius Malfoy in the face at the bookstore. They got in a full on fistfight.

Okay first of all. LOVE how invested you are in these movies. A lot of reactors get bored with the first two because they are definitely older films (still brilliant imo & the storyline is incredible because anything based off of a book is always an amazing storyline) but these next films get even darker & the symbolism & parallels that are made in these movies to real life hit unnaturally close to home & it’s about to get real deep & you’re gonna love it. Can’t wait to follow your journey on this 🙌🏻

I love it how after they crash into the Whomping Willow, the Ford Anglia has had ENOUGH and ejects them and their stuff and just goes off to live on its own in the forest.

What was never explained in any of the movie versions is that Harry, Ron and Hermione found out that Filtch the Hogwarts caretaker is a "Squib". A Squib is a person who was born from a wizarding family but is unable to do magic. They have no magic in them. It's the reverse of a muggleborn which is what Hermione is. She was born from muggle parents but she can do magic. She was born with magic in her. It's sad for Squib because they know about the wizarding world and are exposed to it on a daily bases. But can't be a wizard because they have no magical abilities. It's like they were born physically magically impaired. In the Chamber of Secrets book, when Harry and Ron got in trouble for driving the flying car in front of muggles Harry picks up a letter he found on the floor that was addressed to Filtch and Filtch looks embarrassed about it is because Filtch thought he was found out. Later when Filtch's cat got petrified and he accused Harry of doing it he said it was because Harry found out the he is a squib and Harry was bullying him. In truth Harry and Hermione never understood or knew what a squib was until Ron explained it to them after Filtch accused Harry of bullying him by hurting Mrs. Norris the cat. So because Hermione has magic in her she got her Hogwarts letter last year and was admitted into the school. But because Filtch has no magic in him he never got his Hogwarts letter ever. And to make things worse he is a caretaker of a school he will never be able to learn from because he is incapable of doing magic. 🪄🚫😼

Ron Weasley is actually the 6th out of 7 Weasley children. Bill Weasley is the first born. He graduated from Hogwarts and works in Egypt as a tomb curse breaker for Gringots Bank. Charlie Weasley also graduated from Hogwarts and works in Romania at a dragon preserve. Percy Weasley is a prefect student at Hogwarts. Fred and George Weasley are the mischievous twins. Ron Weasley is the 6th and last male born in the family. He unfortunately gets all the hand-me-downs in the family, including his wand and even his rat, Scabbers. You got 6 Harry Potter movies left it’s gets even more darker darkness

The thing about the Harry Potter books is that it's actually a coming of age story and the author, JK Rowling originally wrote the series for adults. It was the book publishers that decided to advertise it as children's books. If you read between the lines of the story you will see it is a satire. First, one has to understand that you the reader are looking at the story through Harry Potter's point of view as he grows up throughout the years at Hogwarts. In the first book and movie Harry is 11 years old so you see his world from his 11 year old mindset and maturity. But as he grows up and begins to understand things more and more the story gets darker and less innocent as he matures with age. The reason I call the books a satire is that many of the stories deals with racism of a different kind and political corruption. Dobby might be a house elf but nevertheless he is a slave just the same. There might not be any racism in the wizarding world against people of color but there is racism against wizards who do not come from pure magical families. Harry doesn't see the horrible similarities between the wizarding world and the muggle world at this point because he is only 12 years old during The Chamber of Secrets. To a certain extent he is still an innocent little boy and is not mature enough to comprehend it all to the fullest extent. 🏰🧙‍♂️🧙🏻‍♀️🧒🪄⚡️📚📽🎞🖤

Muggle-borns have the gene from somewhere in their ancestry. Hermione's ancestors were witches, so her name was written in the book of witches born (half, full, or muggle) by the magic quill as soon as she was born.

Maybe this will help explain the blood thing: Pureblood = only magical blood for generations. No marriages to muggles or muggleborns (supposedly) ie: Draco and Ron's families Halfblood: one parent is pureblood while the other is either a muggle or muggleborn. I.E. Harry (muggleborn mother) and Voldemort/Tom Riddle (muggle father). Squib: child born to 2 magical parents who has no magic ability. I.e. Filch Muggleborn: child born to 2 non-magic (muggle) parents. Has either a squib, witch or wizard somewhere in their family tree. I.E. Hermione and Harry's mother.

Some clarification about this one: 1) Harry's scar is not a lightning bolt. It is clarified in the additional materials (and maybe in the books, don't remember) that for the spell to be the most efficient, it has to be accompanied by a certain wand movement. The scar is shaped like the Killing Curse movement. 2) When Harry and Ron catch Lockhart trying to flee from Hogwarts, he tosses something into the trunk. And then there's something on the table while they are talking. Those are WIGS. Even Lockhart's hair is fake. Liar, liar, cloak on fire! 3) The phrase "Her skeleton will lie in the Chamber forever" did come true, because the basilisk was a FEMALE (it is clarified in the additional materials how male basilisks are different from female). 4) In the books, Lucius Malfoy is described as looking very similar to Draco. At first, the movie makers designed him as sort of a gangster with short black-and-white hair and in a pinstripe suit, but Jason Isaacs (the role performer) suggested dandy-ish style anc long white hair, and it worked. Besides, he had to keep his chin up for the hair to stay straight, and it made him look even haughtier. 5) The anagram with the name was a pain in the neck for the translators, so they had to look for options: France: Tom Elvis Jedusor Denmark: Romeo G. Detlev Jr. Ukraine: Tom Yarvolod Riddle Slovenia: Mark Neelstin (one of the few cases where the name Voldemort was changed as well, to Mrlakenstein, from "mrlak" - "darkness")

Thanks for reacting to this series. I've seen the movies so many times I know them inside out, however watching you react brings back the 'magic' of when I saw them for the first time. When you're done with the series you definitely need to go back and watch them all again. Seeing them with the enlightenment of knowing the characters, situations etc., really enhances the experience. (Being vague so no spoilers.) I will say though that when you said this movie was dark, I had to chuckle. If you think this is dark, hold on to your hat mate, you ain't seen nothing yet. 😉

People who have a talent for magic get invited to schools and if they choose not to attend they have memory erased. All magic people are still human no matter who their parents are but prejudice is always ruining human happiness.

I'm not gonna lie....when I first saw the basilisk in this movie, I had the same reaction Ron had with Aragog. (side note: I am NOT fearful of snakes or spiders). Also, every time I hear Hermione say "She's a little sensitive" to describe Moaning Myrtle, I always have the same first thought: A LITTLE sensitive?" Side note: I always have the thought of "Harry's lucky Fawkes clawed out the Basilisk's eyes, otherwise that rock trick in the tunnel wouldn't have worked at all", combined with "Don't you dare sneeze, Harry"

Think of Hermione's magic status as having a recessive gene, so even though both her parents are Muggles, she probably has wizard ancestors who she got her powers from. In wizard society, "purists" like Salazar Slytherin, Voldemort and the Malfoys don't think muggle-born wizards are legitimate wizards, so it's wizard racism at its finest. And yes, Mudblood is a racist slur similar to the N-word.

Little fun fact about quiditch: you'll never see slytherin vs ravenclaw due to the use of green/blue screens. If slytherin plays they use blue screens for the background, if ravenclaw plays they use green screens but they can't use both during the same game.

Hermione is muggleborn, which means she didn’t have the advantage of growing up in the wizarding world and being part of the culture. She has learned everything from books, and wants *so* badly to fit in and prove herself as worthy as anyone else. That’s part of why she tries SO hard. There is a long history of pureblood prejudice against muggleborns in wizarding society.

I love your enthusiasm and excitement to get into the wizarding world though, the first thing I thought, when you said "I can imagine these movies will get much more mature and much darker as we go along, which I am kind of here for. I want some battles and fights I want some wizard vs wizard, let's get into that, that's what I am here for." -- I thought to myself...Oh you sweet summer child....lolol Amusing facts - in the book, the breakout by the Weasley's didn't exactly happen like that. They had been keeping Harry's trunk and broom locked up in the cupboard under the stairs and Fred and George snuck through his window - lockpicked his room's door and went down and retrieved his things. It wasn't until everything was in the car that the Dursley's noticed anything amiss as Harry climbed through the window forgetting Hedwig and she let out a screech that woke up the Dursley's lol. Yeah, they are kind of wishy washy about magic usage outside of Hogwarts in these movies. It wasn't like that in the books! I am impressed that you picked up on the handle of Lucius' wand in the bookstore being a hissing snake! Very Astute! "It's just a name innit?" Not me inner chortling over that and wanting to head pat you. I love the musical accompaniment lol - reminds me of some kind of Haunted Ghost Story thing lol. Very good Filch impression! Also - very much better with syncing the sound to their mouths this time! I am sorry if I sounded annoyed in the last comment section, I don't mean to come off that way. I am neuro spicy and it's a bit jarring for me, to watch video and audio not sync'd up, I am also partly deaf so I watch mouths a lot as well and it's wonky when their lips are mouthing words and then the audio sounds on a different spot, or captions aren't in time with the audio, if you get my meaning. One of the only real gripes I have with the movies versus the books is that a lot of Ron's lines got given to other characters. In the books Ron is really smart and knowledgeable about wizarding world, it was him that explained what Mudblood was, not in the movie where Hermione knows it which, doesn't make any sense because she's muggle born and hasn't had much interaction with the wizarding community enough to know their stances and slurs. Also in book 1, it was Ron that was the calm headed one falling on the Devil's Snare, not Hermione. In the book, Ron figures out that the Devil's Snare hates heat and tells Hermione to light a fire and she wasn't thinking and was panicking when she claimed 'but I don't have any wood!' and Ron had to be like 'Are you a Witch or not?! Really, I don't have any wood'...but in the movies, Ron is only relegated to side-kick, comedy-relief character. He doesn't get the credit he deserves! No, they are not turning their pets into water goblets, there's animals in the Transfiguration department that are used for that purpose. No rats were harmed in the learning of Transfiguration I solemnly swear! Once you're all through the movies, you also need to react to the 20th Anniversary Harry Potter video! Also super impressed you recognized that Lucius was about to say the killing curse at Harry - in an interview with the actor from somewhere I remember but can't recall the name of, he said he was told to shout a spell, and 'Avada Kedavra' was the first one that came to mind lol.

Your reactions are so endearing! 😊 But I think a sad thing about the movies is that they do leave everyone saying “we need Hermione” for every little thing. The boys aren’t hopeless without Hermione in the books. A lot of things Hermione says and does in the movies are things other characters (like Ron or Dumbledore) say and do in the books.
