I watched the Netflix One Piece Live Action recently. It was nothing short of amazing. I had never seen the One Piece Anime or read the One Piece manga. I went in with no experience or expectations but I came out surprised. It was amazing and will be the reason why I read One Piece in the future.

First watch is absolutely joyful and emotional and excited and so on. But I still got chill and emotional again every time I rewatch/reread. I have rewatched multiple times of anime and manga and every time I find small little things that may not be observed before and they are already foreshadowing all along it is mind blowing! Although One Piece is long, I still find it worth it to rewatch/reread again and again.😊

That was me. Only no one pressured me to watching One Piece. I discovered anime completely on my own and found One Piece at random. Saw a poster, thought to myself "Not sure I'm going to like this." But anime was so new to me at the time I was curious enough to try ANYTHING. Came into it expecting a goofy cartoon with no substance. That moment in Arlong Park made me realize I discovered something special. Today, One Piece is my favorite fictional story of all time.

I had tried watching one piece before but stopped around episode 30. There were a couple of really stretched out boring episodes fighting against Don Krieg and I lost interest. After watching the live action and seeing that Nami's story is right after that, I went back to the anime. I'm now on episode 85 watching Chopper's introduction!

i dont see what was so profound about that moment. luffy has been helping people since episode 1. he never gives up and is optimistic. it was obvious that the story would get to a point where he would help her.

I remember deciding to read One Piece, took about 3 weeks for me to get caught up and I've never regretted it. Granted, that was like 2005 and there was only like 350ish chapters, so, damn.. good luck.

It's really fascinating to see people who would have never given it a chance finally see what literally everyone has been saying about it for years. It's goddamn good. Like c'mon it's not THIS famous for no reason. Yet all it takes is a new coat of paint(A live action) and suddenly people are on-board. I wish in the future people would learn to look past that and see the beauty and majesty in stories of all kinds regardless of whether it's animated or not.

Nah the OP animation is legit a turn off to some people. Too goofy, & quality not consistent. The manga is actually better. I read the manga but couldn't sit through the anime. The live action gives it a more serious credibility.

I've heard several people now say that this has made them finally decide to watch/read one piece. It's amazing to see. For me, I just kind of stopped reading a good 8 or 9 years ago. I just couldn't keep up and found the new arcs (AT THE TIME) boring. Also reading the manga didn't do it as much for me as the anime which I'd caught up on. I wish I never had done that. I wasn't doing great in life and maybe the positivity wasn't sitting right with me. In any case, this show has fully reignited those old feelings. I'm 100% rewatching *and* catching up with everything. All 1k episodes baybe let's go.

I had to stop half way of episode 1 to check out the anime. The anime is way better. Live action is cosplay and characters' personalities and emotions are all wrong.

@@goyam2981 the first half of the first episode was a little weird true, but the rest is actually very good. And I think that has to do with it being one of the first parts they recorded. So they weren't completely in tune yet.

People exaggerate the time "investment" based on the number of episodes and chapters. But an episode runtime (skipping intro, outtro, and recap) is 14-18 minutes. Reading a chapter of the manga (15 pages each, pretty small) takes less than 10 minutes each. "Only" 8 episodes of the live action clocked in at nearly 8 hours. 40 episodes of the anime is longer, but not by orders of magnitude. You can get through that in about 11-12 hours. Anyway, the goal isnt to 'finish it', the goal is to enjoy it. If you do, keep reading/watching. If you don't, then don't. Simple.

there are several movies to the anime which sums up an entire arc if you find the anime too long just watch those movies, but i recommend you read the manga first, its the most beautiful thing ever :)

I'm not even a fan of One piece too, but when I watched the Live Action on NETFLIX, I found out why ONE PIECE is Great! I love the story, effects, crew and all the casts especially IÑAKI as LUFFY! I suddenly fell inlove and became an instant fan of him! I love when he's being GOOFY but he's a GOOD FRIEND too and do everything to follow his DREAM to become KING of the PIRATES! Thank you Netflix and Mr. Oda! Waiting for SEASON 2 ☺

omg i know. inaki is adorable and charismatic. i also love his moments where he gets serious with his adversaries, and when he tells coby that he going to go and help his friends and that he better not try to stop him. i find it hard to believe that coby didnt go with him. i can imagine the song holding out for a hero by bonnie tyler playing in the background if he had decided to go with him. 😄

I've talked to hundreds of people over the past 10 years who never wanted to watch or cared for One Piece simply because of its length and then they give it a chance and become hooked. Enjoy the show and take it slow cause once you catch up you'll wish you had more episodes.

@goyam2981 this opinion is sooooo out if touch. They translated the characters basically perfectly. That doesn't mean they are the exact same characters as the anime, because doing that would NOT work in live action. Each live action character absolutely captured the spirit of the original. Don't disagree that the anime is better. But saying the live action is all wrong regarding the characters is INSANE

Anime is actually worse. Too goofy. A kids show you can expect on cartoon network. Manga is the best & it leaves the movements & sounds to the readers' imagination so it doesn't become too much like a circus show. It's not even comedy because comedies like Gintama or One Punch man or Saiki K or Arakawa etc all do it properly. OP anime.. it's just.. weird. Live action is perfect. It's bearable for adults & captures the world properly.

A cool think about this uis that the live action can use foreshadowing like non other. they have a TON of source material, and depending on how long it runs, can just do things the right way. I am too a first time watcher with the live action, and have since found the anime, watching up to the point where the live action is.

Dont need to lock yourself, just read 3-4 chapter a day it just like 30mins. Enjoy the ride, enjoy the journey. It doesnt end anywhere soon and season 2 is a year and couple of month after the strike(it possibly longer). By that time you probably caught up or in few last arc.

I"m in the same boat (heh) as you. I've never read the books or watched the anime. I'm in my 40s and grew up in Canada with very little exposure to manga or anime. I put the first episode on thinking the exact same thing: I'll probably just watch the first episode and move on. I'm about to watch the 1st season for the 2nd time.

When watching the anime, do not think of the number of episodes. Go with the flow, if you like whats going on and is eager for the next episode, go on. If not, take a break. This series is about adventure and for lots of us fans, it hooked us to keep watching the next episode. My brother who has never watched the anime managed to watched 200 episodes in one week😂

The only arc i think they didn't do justice was arlong park. In the anime was even more heartbreaking watch nami breakdown and THE VOICE ACTING (original japanese) when she asked Luffy for help was so real and desperate, also luffy vs arlong was still better in the anime for me although i'm glad we didn't have to wait for luffy like 3 episodes to fight arlong while he was stuck under the sea like in the anime.

Please do that! Read the One Piece manga! but dont start where the life action ended. They left out at lot of story and characters. You have to start at chapter 1. The life action is fantastic. But in the manga all that you ve liked has much more room to breath. You ll love it
