If even a pitbull, mastiff, great pyrenees, or any other large strong dog breed causes trouble in a small NYC apartment, then they shouldn't really be too surpised that -whatever clifford is- being unsuited for their environment. What I'm saying is this movie has lowkey animal abuse and has no problem with it. (Unlike the books and show, which had them living in a rural-suburb area with lots of wide open spaces where he could run without potentially crushing someone.)

I think _Paddington_ is one of the few examples of a children's book character who works _excellently_ as a movie. I didn't read the books very much, but I love how they were able to present this friendly, talking bear in an environment where he's entertaining. Sure, Paddington is just your average happy-go-lucky bear with an unusually positive attitude, but the writers were able to make a movie where it worked well. There was an origin story, a general conflict within the film that made sense, an antagonist with a unique motive, and it was actually pretty funny. I know not everyone was into the _Paddington_ movies, but I thought I'd put my thoughts out there.

Who wants to see Paddington 3 in the animation style of Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, Diary of a Wimpy Kid (upcoming animation of this ending year), The Peanuts Movie and (very hopefully) Pac-Man World 2 which is the cartoon versions (which there's only one of in CU and P) of the character designs brought to the half-wonderful world of CGI!

@@kieranstark7213 I always liked the live-action version of Paddington. I love the charm that the director was able to translate to that medium, from the pretty colors to the special effects. However, that doesn't mean Paddington wouldn't look good in CGI. I've seen pictures from the Nickelodeon series, and it looks really pretty too. To summarize what I'm saying, I'd be thrilled if "Paddington 3" was live-action, but he looks pretty spiffy in CGI too.

@@slickwilli409 Because Nickelodeon will currently be infamous for being the company that sexually exploited teenage girls in more overpraised Nickcoms than just the ones by Dan Schneider and murdering Stephen Hillenburg just so they could make SpongeBob go from (barely) one of the better Nicktoons to another one of their many worst shows, I actually think that while Paddington has always had a great track record so far, even that will have a high chance of getting bastardized by Nickelodeon just like they are likely to do with Transformers (like it's Bayformers all over again), Big Nate, Star Trek (Prodigy) and Garfield with the treatment of Cartoon Network's infamous reboots, especially Thundercats Roar aka Poop Mouth With Poop Opinions (and this is coming from someone who likes the majority of CN despite making crap from time to time).

I kind of wish Studio Ghibli made a Clifford movie, I don't know how popular Clifford is in Japan but I feel like Studio Ghibli is the only production team to be able to make this charming. Like why did Clifford need a plot? I like it if it's more slice of life comedy fun.

If more production teams just gave their creatives the freedom to make what they want, we'd have more studios like Ghibli. Every animation studio has people working there who really care about their craft, the industry's just set up in a way where all those artists are stuck creating the nose hair details in some designed-by-committee monstrosity. There probably are loads of studios capable of making a good Clifford movie, but they would never given the freedom to make the style of movie they'd want to.
@bea4828

@@fv2977 I want more studios that do that. Even if it makes the quality inconsistent, its nice to see movies where its obvious the studio gave the artstis free will. Raul is portrayed by SNL alum Horatio Sanz, whom, a couple of months back, was sued for alleged sexual assault and grooming by someone who was fifteen at the time-- and Sanz was thirty something. The fact that he was not cut from this movie that both is for kids, and STARRING kids is frightening.

I wish this movie took a route more akin to the Curious George movie. The movie gave George a very clear personality despite him not being able to talk. The movie did a good job making the plot feel very personal to George despite having a similar structure to this movie. This is because the the Curious George movie focused primarily on George through out the plot as if he was a character with dialogue, unlike this movie which makes Clifford feel like just a dog and nothing else. This means that the plot of the Clifford movie ends up feeling more like a movie about Elizabeth with Clifford just driving the plot, and to be blunt I care more about Clifford than I do his owner. Slightly disappointed in myself for writing about two kids toddler movies this much, lol. (Also listen to the Curious George movie soundtrack, it's surprisingly really good)

I grew up watching the PBS Clifford cartoon as a kid and that has 10x the appeal and charm of this movie with 1000x less budget. It's so annoying when these film executives throw badly CGIed childhood characters in a lazy adventure of the big city with a generic out of place villain then justify it all with "it's just a kid's movie". That's just code these days for "it's a lazy nostalgia cash grab that only kids might enjoy." It's always very obvious when they don't care about the quality of the end product as long as the advertisements get parents to buy it for their kids.

He got too big, so they moved to an island town with more space. There was nothing evil, it was just slice of life cuteness. There were so many other things they could do with slice of life cuteness. as someone born in 2007 who watched pbs as a kid, i cannot imagine these characters being in live action CGI. Only an old hand-drawn animated movie from the 2000s or 90s, where it has a simple plot and good life lessons for children. any other style is weird. like yeah I'm 14 which is a *little* bit above the age range for these types of movies, but at least with other book/cartoon type movies they at least went all CGI! Such a mediocre movie idea to throw Clifford the Big Red Dog of all fucking characters onto the big screen. like wtf?? what about wild krats?? The amount of action packed shit, information about animals, and stuff about protecting the environment you could cram into and hour and a half is phenomenal! Damn they should've made a wild krats movie, but idk how old the two irl main characters are now

The series follows the Howard Family: Nice guy Mark, his wife Caroline, their eight year old daughter Emily Elizabeth, a giant 25 ft red Labradodle Retriever, and the Holland Lop named Daffodil. Two 15-minute stories made up each half-hour episode. Usually one story featured Clifford and his canine friends, Cleo, a purple poodle, T-Bone, a yellow bulldog, and Machiavelli. The other story would focus on the future Harem of Birdwell Island, their alpha girl of course is Emily Elizabeth herself, including the snobby Jetta Handover, Vaz the only normal kid, and Charley, the alpha male in the group and Emily’s boyfriend.
