In addition to all the other points made, Krell is given so much forewarning that they were going to try to arrest/kill him. He probably had his first twenty moves planned out before Rex even entered the room. Which is why he sounds so calm the entire time and probably why he gloats at Rex before leaping off the building.

I recently rewatched the entire series with my step-dad and I noticed a detail that absolutely broke my heart: I remembered Waxer having the drawing of the twi’lek girl on his helmet from this arc but if you pay close attention to his scenes in the Geonosis arc you’ll notice he had the marking from as far back as season 2. I was nearly brought to tears when I realised the mark wasn’t an Easter egg to give an easy tug on the heart strings and a reminder to viewers who may have forgotten who Waxer was, it was a defining trait of his character that stuck with him for the rest of his life. It honestly speaks to how amazing this show is that that one detail that is so minute gives so much story to a minor character. It’s so tragic when you realise that clone characters that kind of disappear back into the setting after they get an appearance or two despite how human and fleshed out they feel in their brief time on screen is exactly how they would’ve been viewed in world. All of them are their own person and yet they fade away into the mass of faceless soldiers like numbers on a page whether they be clone troopers or later storm troopers. They were tools, given life and conscious but denied humanity.

What’s even more interesting is that we never really get to see what happens to the other clone from that arc, Boil, but in Rebels they reintroduce the Twi’lek girl, Uma, as an adult and she is wearing pieces of Boil’s armor. These three effected one another so deeply that both clones wear representations of the little girl on their armor, and then SHE wears their armor after they’re gone.

Some of the main things to notice in this arc are the haircuts, tatoos, and painted helmets of all the reoccurring 501st clones, now with phase 2 armour. I think they dedicate a fair amount of lines to naming them all and showing off their distinctive features. The main characters are all from previous episodes; obviously Rex and Fives had a lot of screen time before this, but also Jesse and Hardcase appeared in "the deserter". So did Kix, and although he's not really central to the plot at any point, you can spot him easily since his design is very distinct, being a medic. Then you also get the new characters Tup and Dogma, plus the first clone wars appearance of Appo.

Honestly I think Pong Krell is a good villain because he knows his enemies. He talked down the clones, as the Kaminoans did. The Umbaran tech is so different because they're an isolationist world. They actively attacked anybody that got near. While the rest of the galaxy was working together to develop and distribute advancements, Umbarans made their own instead. Also, for your armor questions, you're seeing the difference between plasteel (clone armor) vs Mandalorian beskar (Boba and Djinn armor). Plasteel is great for heat dispersion, and can stop some shrapnel, but beskar is durable and strong enough to stop even a lightsaber blade for short periods of time.

14:22 I’m inclined to believe this cause Rex is one of the few clones Krell even kinda respects. @@admiral_ben2621 I'm inclined to agree, as I've said in my post the council members we see on screen are generally taken down by surprise attacks from very close range. They're struggling to respond to something they never expected and weren't ready for with little reaction time. Krell on the other hand and laying aside his skills (being able to defend front and rear is a huge bonus) never really trusted the clones. So if order 66 was given when he was alive he'd probably not do as well here but he wouldn't have been caught as offguard as the ones we see.

I think (laying outside of universe reasons) the reason Krell does so much better than the council members is that he was ready and waiting for this then he's going into a fight fully aware and using his sabres front and rear protecting him from all directions. The council members however are starting from a surprise attack they're not expecting and are usually trying to regain their balanc,e figure out what's happening and draw their sabre while being fired on from very close range with little reaction time. It works as an explanation with the only survivors we see in Ep3 being Yoda who had some warning and Obi Wan who was fired on at a distance and had time to recover from the shock.

Temple guards have existed for thousands of years in Star Wars technically and almost always they had the yellow sabers because they were to signify " We are not a normal part of the order. We are the only ones here trained to put you down. " - They were trained in various double-bladed saber forms. Most of them to do with dismantling opponents similar to Form 2, the same form used by Dooku to absolutely body Anakin and toy with him in their first encounter and then used by Anakin to body Dooku. Anakin had apparently studied it in secret " because we're facing Sith now and they won't come quietly. We have to. " - so he learned the form all about cutting off limbs.

The best conventional way to kill a jedi is actually to get in close with numbers. Not close enough to get sliced but just out of blade reach. Being this close to a jedi and outnumbering them means the blaster bolt will be near instantaneously on them rather than the few seconds from longer ranges. Also, the number of bolts will overwhelm the jedi making unable to use the force as they will be too focus on defending themselves as well as too focused to deflect the bolts back and the need to just guard. Krell's style means he basically has a super-computer for a brain (though once again arrogance and over confidence was his downfall), being able to control those arms and blades and not nick himself would require a ton of mental training and nonstop thinking. He's basically perfect to defend against the clones.

12:43 To kill a Jedi you need specialized equipment or the weight of numbers, you need omnidirectional fire on their position (or artillery), and surprise if you can get it. You do not give them a chance to surrender, if you're taking them alive you surround them, use flashbangs, and tear gas in an enclosed space, troopers should be fine with helmets, and blast them into oblivion with enough stun blasts to make the Sarlac feel it. If you're not, recommend the use of land mines, and not just a few, basically set up a triggerable minefield, lure them into it, and detonate it, then bombard the position with every gun you've got.

I watched Resistance. In my opinion, it started out as "okay but on the verge of meh". But luckily, it got better. After the show ended, I thought it was alright. To me, the story was "meh" in Season 1 and "okay" in Season 2. While it can get a lot darker than the animation style and first few episodes may suggest (especially in Season 2), it's still quite tame compared to the vast majority of other Star Wars media I've seen/read with a lot more Slice of Life and a bit less fighting than we're used to seeing in Star Wars. The animation was alright after I got used to it. The characters were the strong point of the show and the main reason I kept watching. While average for Star Wars standards, that's still enough that I do hope to see them again someday. IF any writer ever dares to touch the time post-Episode 9, that is. Overall, it think it was alright. I'd definitely consider it the worst animated Star Wars show since the Disney takeover but truth be told, that's not saying much. I'd still give it a 5/10 on average, a 5.5/10 at best and a 4.9/10 at worst. I definitely don't think it's a "must watch" for any Star Wars fans like I consider TCW or Rebels to be.

Part of the reason alot of ppl didnt like Resistance is that it was the follow-up show to Rebels. Kind of the same way TCW fans refused to give Rebels a shot, Rebels fans refused to give Resistance a shot.

Something i always wondered was how none of the clones questioned the umbarans taking clone armor. They have to have specific air to breath that they couldnt use in clone helmets.

I think the umbra arc is one of my favorites. And it leads to my theory that clones didn’t need the chips to execute traitorous jedi who turned against the republic. I think the chip only activated when the clones were unwilling to execute traitor jedi. And while some may say the jedi weren’t traitors, let’s look at it. The clones were in no position to realize that, it’s fully reasonable to think the higher jedi order may have been corrupt and sought to overthrow the republic. So for clones out on the front lines, hearing that their jedi general was a traitor, they may have needed the chip to activate if they were unwilling to follow the order, but some I think were just down to be like, of course it all makes sense. I like to look at bad batch where crosshair followed the empire without the chip.

Maybe someone else brought it up in the comments and I couldn't find it but... What about Krell at 12:14 does the Senator Palpatine thing with, "It's treason then." as Mace Windu and the other Jedi went to arrest Senator Palpatine when Rex and company show up to relieve Krell of command...? Chills, man...gave me chills!

somthin you missed was that after krell yeeted those two clone into a group of clones is that when Rex and co are confronted by dogma in the background you can see alot of clones get back up, and in the scene when the clones decide to arreset Krell you get a shot of tup, pissed off, which I think is when his faulty chip starts to malfunction or degrade even more when Rex says treason against the republic

The Umbara arc is the best arc in the clone wars, solely because it focuses on a part of a single campaign and the clones, and introducing an amazing twist that changed the arc from just being the 501st vs the Umbarans by introducing Krell. There should've been more arcs like it in the show. Focusing on smaller parts of the conflict from the perspective of those fighting in the war, instead of focusing on the jedi and specifically the 501st most of the time.

I always feel bad for people like "robots, clones and synth's" people that are meant to die in war people like the Nikke's from "Godess of victory: Nikke" [where they get slaughter and consumed by their enemies], clones from clone wars [obviously they are cloned just to die in a pointless war], synth's from last origin [Which are similar to the Nikke's except your the last human and they HAVE to protect you as the humanities last order.] its just sad. in the robots case, they often times consider themselves to be only weapons or tools and nothing more, merely the hand of humans. and in the clones and synth's case they are a lot like each other in that they HAVE to follow every order even if it means they die in the end and only a few like rex ever break free.

I the Republic fleet in orbit likely sent the fighters out to go and attack the fleet, try and take out the supply ship, like how the US did during Midway, sent fighters out after their Japanese equivalents to attack their carriers.
