It failed to acknowledge the dropping of the atomic bombs were the result of Japan waging war throughout Asia and the Pacific for the previous 4 years at tremendous cost of military and civilian life, led by a fanatical leadership that saw surrender as an unbearable disgrace. It was estimated by the the Americans that to bring about ending the war would cost upwards of half a million American servicemen's lives and millions of Japanese. As terrible as the bombs were they prevented carnage of that scale by ending the war.
