There are a LOT of surprises in America! This is the most affordable place in the country, and you didn't even know about it I bet.
In this episode, I visited Milwaukee, Wisconsin to show you what it's like to live there. I explored the ghettos and the fun things, and well, this just might be my new favorite place to live in the country.

Honestly, being from Memphis originally, Milwaukee's hoods look like some of the better kept neighborhoods in Memphis. It doesn't really look that bad there. Of course, once you've seen Detroit and Memphis, everything looks pristine. And Wisconsin looks pretty cool, regardless. Wisconsin is friendly and inviting. It's like Minnesota's drunk cousin. 😄

Anyway, when they were taking pictures of Henry Winkler standing next to it (he is really a tiny man in person) someone pointed out to him (which he then announced on the mic) that the veins in the backs of his hands are "HW" and "SW", which are his and his wife's initials. Also, a lot of people around here think it looks more like the Joker than the Fonz.

I really enjoy your channel. With this video, you really came out of your shell. I live in a Boston suburb (an hour north) Newburyport, which is actually a city but acts like a town. Everyone knows each other. It is an old historic seaport town where ships were made and textiles sold. I wasn't born here but have seen pictures of the boarded up windows in our downtown in the 1970's. Nobody wanted to live here. Now the avg house is $1M. If you visit downtown Boston, it is really beautiful. However, there are parts of Boston that are not safe even during mid-day and they look like @12:33. I'm thinking areas like Dorchester and Mattapan. Both are considered "Boston." but you won't see any pictures of those areas on tourist flyers. (do they still make flyers?) I remember when Baltimore, MD tried to re-invent themselves. They created "Inner-Harbour" (I added the U to make it classier). It was initially a huge success with shops, restaurants, and condos right on the water, joined by an enormous curvy boardwalk. It was a huge push for MD. However, I believe today, it is no longer new nor quaint. It was beautifully reborn, yet had a painful death. I'm not sure why. Did Eric, @14:29 own or rent? (not judging, just curious). Behind "Mappy" look at Nick's rotary dial black phone in front of his YT plaque. 😎 BTW, I'm the guy who wears shorts all of the time. I look like I'm either coming or going to the gym. (sorry I keep editing this!). Where did you stay? (if you are allowed to tell us). Bring back the stache!!!!!!! Do you remember the Family Guy episode where Peter lands in Ireland and the runway is full of beer bottles? lol

@@upyorkstate5541 The Budweiser Clydesdale are in St. Louis, MO. and are mascots of Anheuheiser-Busch...We, Milwaukee, used to have team of horses that pulled beer wagons at our parades but I haven't seen them in years. I know many years ago, a team was spooked at a parade downtown and ran into a crowd of people. I haven't seen them since so I wonder if that had anything to do with them disappearing.

Ex-Chicagoan living everywhere. Glad I saw it again quite a bit in 2021-2022 - I like a lot of sections, but was surprised I did not vibe it at all. Zero. A few ideas why. Had good memories visiting Summerfest and a lot of WI as a 80s kid. Visiting again, was like a 80s nostalgia remake/reboot - not as good as the original. In fact, Later had nightmares I was stuck there. Somehow dreams became a nightmare when Milwaukee was the setting. Trying to figure that out. Nothing terribly wrong with it except the gray, and I never feel like drinking.

Interesting to me that the homes in the bad neighborhoods look just like the homes in Connecticut and also Ohio. I'm curious why the architecture in these separate states are all the same..... homes built around 1910-1920

Those were kit homes sold by Sears, Montgomery Wards and lumberyards. Home builders would buy lots from developers then offer to build a home the buyer wanted from a catalog show by the builder..

I live in the SW suburbs , and it’s completely different than city. We have bike trails that run the span of the lake, mountain bike trails, disk golf, water falls, a botanical garden, a ski slope, a minor league ball park , and golf courses. Having moved from NYC and Palm Beach county, it’s so laid back and relaxed. Nature. Chill . And we are 45 mins to Lake Forest. You are right, we are the little bro to Chicago. You can take the Amtrak to Union Station . The schools are amazing and the health care better. Living is easy. I live in a 4400 sf home and its only 850,000!! Lake Forest thats 2,000,000.We are the best kept secret!

I moved to the Madison area during the later part of my life (but now I'm living in Manila in the Philippines) and I think you should really check out around Dane county and Madison sometime. Madison, Wisconsin has all the best things that I love about Milwaukee with an even smaller town feel.

I'm a FIB who's been living here...off and on...for the last 55 years. Of course I've had to hide my previous FIB history from friends. I hesitate to say this...because the FEWER people who find out about this place...the better...But compared to the east coast, the west coast and "down South", I like Milwaukee the best.

Not sure how I feel about admitting this but I spent many nights in alot of those bars as well as dancing on the picnic tables to rock bands down at Summerfest. Haven't been for many years ( getting older, I had my time) but some great memories of hot summer nights, hard rock, fireworks, harleys and yes alot of liquor. We do have museums, plays, ballet, zoos and great lakes in the northwoods for boating and fishing.Vicki
