Texel, a small island in the North of Holland has a beautiful grass airfield which is proudly called Texel International Airport (EHTX). The airfield is well known for its regular airshows and other activities, but the one last weekend is totally unique in the world: A fly-in cinema
Imagine almost 100 small planes and a huge inflated screen watching a great aviation movie sipping Texels Skuumkoppe beer. Life doesn't get any better than this.
It was great fun to fly there in a Cessna 150, the baby sister of the C208 from which I drop skydivers, and I'm happy to share the whole adventure with you!

What a beautiful adventure! I love the way you edit your videos, with the non generic music that amplifies that emotion every aviation enthusiast feels and the many camera angles and narration makes it a wonderful inspiring story - so happy to see you and your parents and this community in such good spirits, making the best out of the not always so great Dutch weather. I love these videos too. Her smile helps me smile. And that she packs so much stuff for an overnight movie trip and sends more stuff in other ways, so much stuff she cannot take a date can make me laugh out loud. I don't weigh a lot. I wouldn't upset weight and balance much. I would have loved to watch that movie with her...

I flew to Texel from the UK with a stop at Hilversum for fuel. Spent a couple off days island hopping before heading back. Lovely airfield, I remember the tulip fields, amazing stripes of colour. Great video!

More! It means good morning, bom dia, buenos dias, I said this word many times when I was in South Africa. This ia a wonderful memory of the times when me and my friends use to fly from Rand airport in Germiston, to Vereeneging lake on a Cessna 182, nearby Johannesburg. When I did my first flight, while approaching Rand Airport from the North, got such a fright while watching all those buildings from the top, I almost died.

Amazing camera work, as usual! I still can't figure out how you get shots of yourself landing and taking off. Plus, the camera pans at the right time! You are not only a very good pilot, you must be a wizard as well.

Moved away with my family in 1974, just spent a week biking in the old home country, it was like home. Went by the glider port on the Veluwe. Your video hits home for me, you just can't take the Dutch out of a Dutch. Great trip report, so fun to watch.

I was nice to meet you at Texel! Its really fun to see the event from your perspective. It was a shame you did not have any tape to help repair our tent, but we figured something out in the end. Yeah Afrikaans and Dutch are really simular, goes back to the days the Dutch were in south Afrika. I really love the accent of Afrikaans😍

I trained on 152's and 150's so I have soft spot for them. Yours is in great Trim as is yourself (no AUW problems!!). There is great pleasure in aerocamping and having a great film like that one you watched is a bonus. Regards, Jim in NI UK

Hi Rosita, greetings again from Argentina. When I saw those images after you landed at min. 9:52 I immidiately thought to my self "... may be one day I can see her piloting a DA42 or even a DA62..." as shown at that instant. No mater what aircraft (fixed or rotary wings) you fly, you always seem to enjoy it as it were the first you ever made. Keep up your awesome work even if you have no "camera-man" on hand. Last weekend me and my friend were ferry a Cesna 150 from Norway to Albi in France for a flying competition. We landed in Texel for fuel, ice cream and a chat with the tower and sightseeing pilots! Unfortunately we had to head further south that day to keep the progression but we really wanted to stay for the night and the after flying beers. First time in Texel but we definitely have to go back! that was such an awesome airport and is such a cool vibe. It was really nice to watch your video and to see that you also think this airport is awesome 😎

That C-150 is probably twice your age! Good little airplane, I always liked the decent sized baggae area. I read that the Navy pilot who did most of the new Top Gun inflight F-18 scenes with Tom Cruise, saw the movie for the first time at a drive in, with his family! I just flew 2.5 hrs this morning checking out some new bike trails in the mountains, and also made a stop to buy some weed killer at a farm supply store. Non pilots don't realize how handy it is to have your own plane, especially when you fly right out of your own property like I do.

Just back from JNB this morning! Having flown 1115 nautical miles around South Africa… Grand Central to Dundi Lodge (near Upington), Madikwe East and then a farmers strip near Vaalwater and back to Grand Central! A 5 day trip! All thanks to you and your videos that INSPIRED ME! Thank you 😊❤️

Sweet. Last time I went to a Drive in Movie, in America. We sat and waited for it to get dark, on the NE coast around Massachusetts. Within minutes of the film starting the traditional sea fog, notorious around Cape Cod, rolled in and completely blanketed the arena! Fortunately we had a vehicle full of young Nurses - to help take the stress away....!X Glad you didn't get fogged in around Texel. Great vid flying story. Had me hooked just from the title!!!X

Well in fact the fog got in just after the movie ended and covered the complete airfield. We really struggled to find our tents back as it was pitch dark with a very dense layer of fog. Funny enough when you looked up you saw a clear sky and all the stars. So it was just a very thin but heavy blanket of fog. Really felt like a fairytale.

Grappig. Ik was gisteren aan het eten op het vliegveld. Ik dacht je te herkennen toen je ook bij het restaurant aankwam, alleen had ik geen idee waarvan. Nu ik deze video zie weet ik het weer. Ik vind het altijd leuk om naar je videos te kijken. Ga vooral zo door.
