It's purely because magic builds can be classed as "easy mode", has been for the entirety for the SoulsBorne life cycle, whereas being a melee build takes skill. I personally don't care for mage builds, and I do agree with it to an extent, but people play how they wanna play.

Having finished both a melee and mage build, I think your second play through just seems much easier regardless of class choice because of knowledge from prior run… I ran melee first then mage, imo mage was a breeze

@@spuggy02 its not, but its just called "greatsword". Its incredibly slow, and anything thats faster will rock your shit for a while unless you spam jump attacks

@@owlbgreen1435 I've never played a souls game before and I seem to be having great difficulty I've got 12 hours on my character and have just managed to kill Margit after 100+ attempts now I keep getting destroyed by some guy in the tower you have to scale after Margit that guards a key any suggestions on what to get to help me, I watched a video and I've got some decent stuff (Level 29 and have 2 swords I forgot the name of both +2 called umagratu or something like that) but keep getting shit on.

Love the Elden Ring videos! Your content is never disappointing. I started off focusing magic (found a dex weapon , had a cheese weapon art, levelled dex for scaling + faster cast time), did PVP once for Varre’s quest line + soul farm after Naturalborn of the Void (praise the bird) , got my ass handed to me, + STR, +VIG, -DEX now I can spam spells, weapon arts, *and* bonk things with colossal weapons.

Jev I beat the entire game and all bosses a few days ago with a strength melee build ur doing now. I thrived off of heavy jump attacks. Also try and get a string sword that has a good ash of war. I used the starscourage dual great swords for a while. Eventually you’ll be strong enough to do big damage on every hit.

My arcane/bleed class has first attempted, Astel the natural-born of the void, Radahn, draconic sentinel, double tree sentinels, margit field boss at capital, Loretta, Ancestor Spirit, Godskin Soldier, that being said the double gargoyles was tough even co opping, and I still haven't beat Alecto, Black Knife ringleader. What Jev said about each class having mobs and bosses that they are good against and weak against is true.

yeah, strength is pretty much a game of trading blows. dex is sneaking a bunch of hits in and dodging. both very fun. my build is pretty much a hybrid of both with a bit of faith magic. i go from duel greatswords, to ultra greatswords, to duel straight swords pretty regularly.

you should upgrade the bloodhounds fang all the way it does 55 bleed buildup and scales really well with strength, and the L2 into R2 to do the vanish thing works so well for getting in and out of range and doing bits of free damage (not to mention if you time it right, it works as a sick ass dodge)

So the timing in the draconic tree sentinel fight, when he raises his shield, its bot when it reaches its highest that you roll, its when he does the pump motion with it, when he brings it down is when you wanna dodge, and when he starts to swing down at you, dodge through him, but be careful because he can combo out of the slam

I saw in SunLightBlade's video that the skeletal warrior summons you get from the Tibia Mariner boss will keep resurrecting themselves after being killed. May be a fun summon to have for bosses.

To the people who said using magic for the entire game is cheap, easy and requires no skill, at least be take in the fact that mage builds are actually viable when compared to games of FromSoft before.
