So...I decided to represent my culture with a Chinese qipao at prom!
My dress is from EastMeetsDress. Not sponsored! I randomly found this company when looking on Etsy. I bought the dress with my own money from tutoring lol

I just had a dream of this type of dress and I wanted to wear it to prom, searched it up when I woke up from my nap, found it, and here I am looking at a bunch of related videos! I want to appreciate the culture instead of appropriating it, lol. The dress looked stunning on you!! 💗

I was thinking of doing the exact same this year! I had all the makeup and hair accessories planned as well, but unfortunately I don’t know if I can anymore because my prom has been cancelled thanks to COVID-19 :(((

Aoife Leong Aw..that’s really disappointing..I would’ve been really sad if that happened to me..But it’s nice to see someone else wanting to do this! XD but I bet people would definitely stare since most wear the normal dresses, I love the look..I wish there are clips of people going to prom wearing it while doing a hairstyle with the accessories.. I hope you can wear it next year, If you have prom

Akatsuki _kowari こんにちは〜 My school is going to try and rearrange prom, so I still have a bit of hope that I will get my prom even though I don’t know when :) I’ve been planning to wear a Hanfu to prom for so long; in my opinion it’s a great way to stand out and be unique while also appreciating Chinese culture. I’ve also been trying to find videos of people wearing Hanfu to prom which is how I ended up here :D I hope you have fun at your prom! ^-^

Aoife Leong I hope your school rearranges prom successfully! I love the chinese culture literally, I quit K drama’s right after watching an episode of Ancient C drama’s xD..I admire the clothing it’s so beautiful.. Have you found people that wore hanfu’s to prom? I couldn’t find any really.

To be real, Qipao isn't really a traditional dress, more of a classic fashion, for traditional Chinese dress(specifically Han) that would be hanfu, which is now very popular among the younger generations in China currently. Hope you would try hanfu one day. 旗袍实际上是被定义为时装的，真正的传统服装是中国各民族传承了千年的民族服饰，而如果你是汉族的话，民族服饰便是汉服了。目前在中国年轻人群体内汉服真的很火，希望有朝一日你也能尝试穿上汉服。
