In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

One of the things I love about Taskmaster is that each single contestant brings something unique to the table. Some are analytical, some are passive, some respond well under pressure, some panic, some try to outfox the task to find loopholes. Iain's strength is being perhaps the most overtly competitive contestant they've ever had, and seeing how even the most minor task can stress him out to the point that he lashes out is great (if at times uncomfortable) to watch.

Iain is actually the contestant I like the least because he was far too obnoxious with his aggressiveness. He only realized his toxic behaviour after seeing himself in the team tasks during the studio recordings, but by that point it was already too late since the tasks have all been recorded already.

@@svyatoslavrurikovich8831 Yeah, even he himself hated himself on taskmaster. Imo, there are funny types of competitive people like Ed Gamble or James Acaster, but Iain was just too far in that direction.

It's odd, I don't have a reddit account but often read the reddit threads when looking for behind the scenes or future series information and it appears that a lot of people really dislike Iain. I will never understand it, he was probably the highlight of the season for me! Charming, chaotic, and insane. To me, he almost embodies what Taskmaster is all about!

They cut out Iain’s best part of that costume/crisps task! Everyone was being really logical with the costumes and trying to hamper each other’s progress with them, but Iain just went “oh the boxer is topless! I wanna see Joe Tomas’s chest ;)”

The thing here is that many of Iain Stirling's truly best moments in the series revolved around him acting like an obsessive, over-competitive, petulant and rather unpleasant git, with Greg winding him up mercilessly.

Which, don't get me wrong, it's entertaining as hell to watch, but either he's an absolutely masterful actor or he's genuinely taking things way too seriously and getting a bit childish about it, and I know which one I think it is.

So many of his best bits not here! How did you include that much of the crisp task and NOT include Iain saying "clrisps", and him yelling "I'M QUIETLY CONFIDENT" on the disaster group task. One of the funniest contestants.

I think that even though sometimes Iain's extreme competitveness can come across as annoying, it is still entirely relatable. As much as I like to think he's being over the top realistically I think I would behave exactly the same if I was on taskmaster

Purely because of the paleness and glasses, he looks like he could be Greg’s long lost Scottish son. And there appears to be a genuine pride Greg takes in Iain’s insanity, like a paternal cat with a toddler learning how to walk.

I just love the contrast between other contestants failing and doing a quiet sound of disappointment, whilst Ian just goes full "FUCK OFF, FUCK OFF, FUCK OOOOOOFFF!!!"... XD Him diagnosing Little Alex Horne as a sarky sister is one of my favourite moments ever.

I mean she is infinitely better than Iain sterling. My 5 year old daughter could do a better ten minute set than sterling. He has no place alongside Gamble, Acaster, Pascoe, Sanders and the absolute god that is Mortimer. He's total pish. In my opinion. Cos that's all it is. Why Jo brand out of interest?
