With the technology available today I would not consider a new camera that doesn't feature a stacked sensor. The high number of pixels doesn't really matter unless you do a specialized work that requires big detailed prints.

FYI - off-topic story of Fuji robustness: Yesterday, I accidently elbow-knocked the -T5 off a countertop onto a slate floor, a drop of 3 feet. The camera, plus attached 16-80 xf F4 lens, made a thump loud enough to be heard two floors down. Subsequent shots of the same subjects taken before the drop are, as far as I can tell, identical in focus and sharpness. I admit I'm not at all careful with my photo gear when biking-hiking; my Nikon experience suffered with minor, and, one major repair (broken buttons; lens needed factory alignment). Remarkably, the last five years of Fuji X-system ownership has been rock solid even with my heavy-handed ineptitude.

@Iamtongue Being a one man crew, and I can't change lenses during a job due to very dusty conditions I need to have three bodies each with a different focal length prime, and one with a ZOOM. The three with primes have the Rokinon Cine lenses. Currently shooting with the Panasonic S5, but I am intrigued by the FUJI 40mpx sensor. I was shooting with the XT4 and the reason I left Fuji is the jerky IBIS when shooting video.

Already gotten the X-T5. the XH2 body is as heavy as my a7iv, hence going for X-T5 is a no-brainer to me on weight//feature/performance comparison vs XH2.

Coming from the XT-20, X100V and X-Pro3, my heart was set on the XT-5. I just love the whole retro styling with the buttons on top. But when I saw the XH-2, and the flip screen and better EVF, but with the PSAM ;-) I thought about it, I always used the command dials for iso and shutter speed So I bought the XH-2. The inability to add iso to a custom button is a bit annoying, but using auto iso with manual mode/aperture priority gives me more freedom to compose. I would have been just as happy with the XT-5 I am sure, but I'll stick with this gem for now 🙂

I just jumped back into photo land and jumped in with the x-s10 and the 18-135 xf that i got used. I love the little guy! But honestly wish i would have fought the "Gear Acquisition Demon" and did a bit more used market surfing. There are so many good deals out there for such great cameras and even full kits! Picked up a mint x-t10 just because i felt like i was missing out on that fuji look with the S10 😅 it even had the xf 18-55 for like 500$ all together! And i love it! Definitelyyy worth shopping around

I'm stuck without either. I was really waiting for a camera that could do both 8K30 and 4K120. But even then, I would have wanted the traditional controls. So I'm going to buy a Z9 instead. Instead of 26MP stacked and 40MP non-stacked they should have done a 35-36MP stacked only and had only an X-T5 and an X-H2 that both were stacked with the same features but different controls and grips. The X-T5 would naturally be "less for video" by simply overheating.

Hi Thongue, I enjoy your videos thank's for making them. What I would like is a comparison between the X-S10 and one of the 2 cameras with a 40mpix sensor (Preferably the X-T5 because it's lighter). The question I have is about image quality, maybe the 26 Mpix sensor is in fact better in terms of character than the new 40mpix.

they look the same in terms of image quality.. XT5 sensor just gives you a bit better colour and better dynamic range, but other than that. It's the same

I picked the XT5 over the XH2 because coming from ex XT3/4 user, I love the analog dials, plus I don’t do video at all. I prefer the tilt screen over the flip screen for myself. I do wish the EVF will share the same as the XH2 but not really a deal breaker. The new autofocus algorithm alone justified the upgrade from the XT3/4 for me. I am surprised with the added mp, the high iso performance didn’t take a hit at all and it seems even cleaner with less color noise when compare to the 26mp sensor.

I am learning about photography and videography, pretty much a beginner. But I want to invest in a pro camera and I am so torn between these XT5 and the XH2. I am a little bit more into video so I should go for the XH2 but the classic design of the XT5 is so freaking sexy! I don't need 8K but then again, that could be future-proofing my purchase down the line. If only I was a rich person and could buy the two right off the bat! 😂

XH2S all the way. You won't see much difference in MP between them. In low light, the noise on the 40mp h2 and t5 is present for sure. Keep that in mind, maybe carry a flash if you go that route. IMO 40mp is pushing it on the APSC sensor. Sure phones have more with less but they are all software. really looking forward to the next 12-36 months of cameras coming. Lot's of "AI" and software implementations to further the distance in performance from your smartphone. Point is, the XH2s is really comparable in crop to it's 40 mp counterpart and waaay faster. If you need any noise reduction at all on the photos of the 40mp where you potentially wouldn't on the the "s" then the S may even be sharper in crop. Sensor development has been stagnant for the last decade. XH2S, just my thoughts. I have both for what it's worth.

@Iamtongue I just traded my XT4 for the XH2. I do mostly landscape, events, and people. I may or may not go the XH2S in the future, but who knows maybe they will go higher megapixels and stacked sensor the next iteration. At any rate I got the 16 80mm F4 lens combination, Viltrox 13mm 1.4 lens, and the 18 55. Would you keep the 18 55mm or sell for a different lens like a 70-300mm Telephoto.

@Leaner Stronger Bodies The 1st thing that I noticed was how fast the eye detection was over my XT4. I like how the phone app downloaded newer pictures right away to an album when you turn the camera off. I also like how fast the XH2 links up with the Fuji app vs. the XT4. I will see if this happens with the new rig that I built with an AMD 5950X. I just got it from B&H in Manhattan Sunday, and I have yet to give it a run. I bought the XH2 with the 16 80mm f4 combo as a kit lens purchase, which seems to not be too bad in low light. I didn't want to wait for the body to arrive during the week of the 11th, so I bought the combination 16 80mm kit lens for 500.00 more. Since the 16 80 is selling for 599.00 to 799.00, I figured why not. Tomorrow, I will have at it shooting landscape pictures in the Poconos, and then back to NYC, Bear Mountains, and Hudson Valley for landscape pictures. I love the build quality, ladies and gentlemen.....feels good in the hands, that grip is better than the XT4. LOVING the EVF AS WELL.

Good and helpful video before making a purchase. What are the pros and cons when having to choose between the XT’s and the XH’s because of the different memory cards, is it worth the extra cost of the CF vs the SD ones and a new card reader and maybe more file storage capacity. Or should I just keep my X-T4 and stop asking questions🤣

Haha honestly If you have the xt4 you’re good. Image quality looks relatively the same. The reason why I would get the xt5 is if you need the autofocus. You definitely have to take into consideration in the extra costs like the CF express which are friggin expensive and a card reader too. So if you’re rich… by all means go for it haha😀😀😀

I ordered the XH2 like a week before the xt5 was announced. Made me sad. When I got the XH2 i had a defective unit where the SD card slot wouldnt read so I sent it back. It took them a month to get a new one in stock and I contemplated just saying "send me one them XT5s instead" but.... coming from the xt30... I loved the flippy screen of my broken XH2 lol

I am so torn which ones to take and honestly the new canon and sony are also worth considering. I didn’t have this problem when i bought the xt3. It’s such a shame Fuji didn’t make an xt5 with the specs of the h2. The whole thing makes me want to study other brands as well. Until a decision is made i will stay with my lovely xt3.

A7R5 - this is basically a X-H3 of the future made available today but twice the price. I'm switching to this after being Fuji user since X-T1. That 4-axis tilt/flip screen is awesome.

Love your humour and information 😂 I just got my hands on an XT5 and it looks great with the retro design and dials. That being said, I managed to get a feel of the XH2 in the store and it felt much more comfortable and better to grip - more natural in my hands. I’m new to Fuji and photography so I don’t know if dials or PASM will be better for me as as a beginner to learning photography. I do understand why still focused shooters would prefer the tilt screen, but I also feel that the articulating screen is more versatile and being able to rotate it inwards to protect the screen when not in use is a bonus. If you have the chance to trade the XT5 for the XH2 without topping up any cash, would you do it? (Someone I’m talking to is looking to trade his XH2 for XT5)

I think if you're new to Fujifilm the PSAM dials are more your speed because that's on every other camera brand as well..And ya I would if it's a straight trade, seems liek you're getting a deal. THE EVF and the LCD SCreen is so much better on the XH2. And if you are already seeing that the artiuclating screen is more versatile. that should just seal the deal.

Are there overheat issues with the XT5 or XH2 for recording outdoor sports? I've had the same camcorder for about 3 years. It can do 4k, but it can't output HDMI 4k to field monitor. I also want to take incredible pictures to have a mirrorless along side my older Nikon DSLR 3400.

I'm not too sure if there are consumer monitors out there that outputs to 4k. The ninja v does 1080 max. During my time with the XT5 i didn't experience overheating. Or my XH2

How often are you frustrated/let down by the autofocus of these 3. Is there any notable AF advantage of the XH2S over the other 2. And finally when balancing between Fuji and Sony do you ever feel like you need the Sony AF for better results. I only ask because I’m ditching my Canon R6 (too many overheating issues in non demanding situations) and I’m deciding between A7Siii and XH2S for 50/50 photo video work. Had the XT3 and XT4 and just felt video AF was a headache. Wish they had touch to track

I wouldn't say frustrated. I'd say the autofocusing is not to the level of sony's or canon.. but it's competitive.. And it's reliable..There are times where it still pulses, and I hate to say this because I don't want to give Fujifilm a PASS they should've given us a close to complete camera from the start instead of rolling out firmwares . But saying that ..maybe we are few more firmware updates and that nervousness goes away.. I don't know what you normally shoot, but for me shooting portraits the autofocusing has been great. I don't need it to be on SONY level but second or third place to it will suffice for me. I just want to know if i'm going to have keepers and have the eyes in focused when i tell the models to move around to capture movement.. So in that scenario it's been great for me, I've been having more keepers with the XH2/XH2s than the XS10...Same goes for video, when i make youtube videos, film b-rolls it works great I do get pulsing at the randomest scenario, which I can't recreate. But if that ever happens, I'll just do a retake and that retake has no pulse. It's the weirdest thing so that could be a firmware issue.. .. I also wish it had a touch to track. The only reason why I don't make a big deal out of it is because I feel that it's a big step from the xt3-xt4..And with the XH2s.. the video quality coming out of that is just NUTS.. Everytime I'm looking at it, it looks super cinematic, it has a nice look to it. So i'm a bit more forgiving because I can't get my sony footage to look like that. If i keep comparing the autofocusing to my sony I know i'm going to have a bad time so i rather not. Not to say that the New Fuji cameras sucks at AF... IT's reliable, it gets the job done for what I needed to do.. Comparison is really the thief of joy.

Buffer of the XT-5 is smaller. Less than two seconds uncompressed raw continuous shooting. See Gordon Laing's review of the XT-5. I am not sure about the noise for stills for the XT-5 and X-H2 40 MP vs the X-H2S's 25 MP.

I came from Sony, and the fully articulating screen is great for video, but using it effectively with photography, drove me nuts. So, I have the XH2s for video, and I went for the XT5 for photography (even though they can both work across photo and video). The flippy screen for video on the XH2s, sweet, and the normal tilt screen on the XT5 is perfect for my needs.

@@whatthefitt It works, but for me, having to flip it out and turn it around, and then having it sticking out the side is just extra steps not needed. I shoot a lot of high end kids parties and kids are never still, so the less steps folding things out and back in again has made a big difference for me. It all comes down to what you shoot! Same applies for my video work, I love the flippy screen.

Have the xh-2 but the inability to program iso to a command dial is driving me nuts. I still can’t believe Fuji does not let you do this. Ordered an xt5 but the lcd screen had a defect so I returned it. Love how you can have iso on the command dial of the xt5. I think the xt5 is priced to close to the xh2 for everything the cut. Both need firmware updates for the continuous tracking for subjects and eye autofocus. Way to jumpy and mine misses the eye more than it hits, and I’ve adjusted all the settings and tried multiple lenses including linear focus lenses. When shooting more than one person the eye/face box jumps around from one to another. They need a system like Nikon where it stays on one person and eye and let’s you toggle with the joystick between different subjects

Ya i hate that about the XH2/s... What i did instead is remapped the iso funciton to 1 of the D-pads, so it feels like a sony. I think find that to be a better alternative than using that iso button.

@@Iamtongue for the a7c I like the size and budget, same sensor as a7iii, and even same photo quality as a7iv. The fujifilm for the colors and to try something other than Sony. I’m more so looking for best quality photo rather than popularity

@@Moresco24 colours are the best on Fuji. Fuji lenses are smaller size. If you’re not good at editing raw files than you can spend a lot of time massaging your raw files on the Sony. Fuji raws are less stressful in my opinion. If you want full frame and full frame benefits .. Sony is the way.

X-T5 for the tilt screen and retro styling, but the X-H2 is definitely worth the extra $300. They should've given the X-T5 the newer EVF and oversampled 6.2k. 😛

Fuji should have included an optional battery grip for the X-T5. This is the first X-T camera that does NOT offer this option. If you shoot with the Fuji 80mm, 90mm, or any of the Fuji telephoto zooms you will wish you had a battery grip for over all handling & balance.🙁

not happy with my X-T3 for video. Thinking of getting an XH2s. Part of me wants to go Sony but the thought of a new ecosystem is financially daunting. Plus I just got the new Fuji 23 and 33mm 1.4s... Tongue do you think I'll be satisfied with the XH2s?

Do the dials of the X-T5 feel thin/tinny? When I went from X-T2 to X-T3 it was a significant difference in the quality feel of the dials. Haven’t owned an X-T since…but tempted by the 5.

ya I believe the materials overall feels lighter in my hand. It doesn't have that robust feeling like the xt3..Don't quote me on that I had the fujifilm xt5 for 5 days only.. I forgot what it felt like already

I just started with wedding photography (but want also to do film) and I am looking for a new camera. Can't decide between the xt5 and the hx2. Sometimes I am thinking of buying the Sony a7iii because of the good ISO.... 😭 It's such a tough decision

Clean iso is nice but you’re gonna spend a lot of time getting the colours right on a Sony.. the workflow on the Fuji is quicker and not tedious if you’re editing raws.. I have a Sony a7iv and I’m always spending more time editing my raws than I would like. I don’t have that problem with my fujis.

@@Iamtongue thank you so much. You are confirming the reason why I want to switch to fuji in the first place. I heard that the xt5 has no efv. Because I am new to photography I don't really know what it is... Is it important for focusing? Maybe it would be a reason to get the xh2?

@@yaseminkuskaya4686 it has an evf it’s just not as bright and sharp like the xh2. It gets the job done. I think you’ll be satisfied with the xt5 if you’re new to photography.. When I first started photography I switched from a Sony a6300 to a Fujfiilm xt2 and have been using Fuji since. But hey if you can afford it and you like that pro grip and feature the xh2 is amazing as well.

I actually have something useful i do to a lot of people for money for work. I also do have a couple of reviews on my work channel, which people valued for exactly that reason - no bias, no bootlicking. Wasnt for cameras though. I may actually do a review of XT4 vs XH2S because there are nearly none of ubiased ones, mostly bootlickers wannabe youtubers. I did find Markuspix channela and another guy "Undone something" channel out of 100s which I actually trusted. 95% sadly, you included, just mislead people for money and serve as promotional tool for manufacturers. No value to society, zero. I actually also bought a BMPCC4K listening to people like you, that one I will return though, 100%. And I will definitely produce a video of XT4 vs BM camera, because black magic product is even more overpraised by bootlockers, I wonder how much BM advertising budget is, it is crazy how much shady stuff is going on on youtube nowadays, humans are such humans... always selfishness and ego takes the win.
