A group dinner at GoldenEye is the perfect storytelling place to discuss how Ian Fleming's own lifestyle undoubtedly influenced James Bond's. Fleming's clothing, accessories, food, drink, and his love of locations helped to develop 007's own preferences and added significantly to the enjoying pleasure of the reader. Today, even the movies have connections back to the books and ultimately Fleming's own life and how he lived it....

When David is not running an advertising and marketing company, his hobby is The Bond Experience which is primarily a video blog where he discusses Bond experiences and the people and brands that help to create those experiences...
The mantra of living like Bond, one moment at a time emanates from a concept of experiencing the joy of collecting small moments in life that add up to amazing journeys and stories....whether it's through style, locations, literature, fitness, and the movies themselves the world of Bond is explored through its people and their stories.
Ultimately though, The Bond Experience channel is a celebration of the James Bond franchise and the many people that form a true community. Our core mission is to create a strong connection in the Bond community amongst all the fans, regardless of interest or demographic.

As a former British Navy officer, Ian Fleming was fascinated with the Royal Navy as it was the bedrock of British imperial glory. Fleming just idolised Horatio Nelson, who visited Jamaica in 1777. Still called the "Commander", Fleming's choice of clubbishness furniture and colours at the Goldeneye bungalow certainly had Royal Navy connotations. Not even mentioned in this video 🤔 Fleming enjoyed local fish, lobsters and always pushed his visitors to embrace all things Jamaican including "dangerous" looking food. And that was also a Royal Navy thing ! However, in the end his "life style" smoking morland cigarettes, drinking Bourbon & Gin contributed to an early end of his life on that Royal St George Golf court in Sandwich UK (August 12, 1964).

Loved hearing from top members of the Bond community share what they love most about the lifestyle! For me, Barbeau said it best..."unflappable". That's the goal...if I can get through something difficult without getting ruffled, I feel like Bond! Very endearing video!

9:45 Don't forget since 1961 Ian Fleming wore a Rolex Explorer 1016 gentleman's wrist watch, which can be seen in many photographs. As the watch was relocated, we know it was case 596851 on a 7206 steel bracelet. Fleming offered Blanche Blackwell a Cartier wrist watch in 1960 as she told him an interesting story which he used for "Quantum of Solace" ! #MoonwatchUniverse #IanFleming

I love this kind of thing. I was born in 1985, and Goldeneye got me into Bond. My connection to the lifestyle is reading all of the novels, travel, style, and especially watches. I’ve owned the Omega SMP 300m and a couple of no date submariners. Currently rocking the 124060 sub. I’d love to meet up the next time you’re at Goldeneye, if that’s an ongoing thing.

I think the bond lifestyle is getting up in the morning, having a cigarette before my scrambled egg breakfast, getting into my DB9,and driving to the pier where I will go scuba diving for the afternoon, and then in the evening I will don my tuxedo before heading to the local nightclub where I will wine and dine with all the beautiful ladies whilst having a vesper martini, shaking not stirred of course…🤗

For me I am only recently applying the style of clothing. But I have always had the gift of sizing the room, my surroundings, and those around me. I take in all small movement, glances, and others body language. It served me well when I was an investigator, and also did loss prevention. I know my exits and how I would get there. I know how I'm saving my wife and kids if they're with me. I usually know what others actions will be and I anticipate them. And like Bond, I can be too confident in those natural instincts sometimes. But they've seldom steered me wrong. When I did interrogations I remember those I'd speak with looking at me wondering how I knew what I was telling them. When I was doing that work in the past, I actually felt I was working as an agent, sort of, lol!!

It is not well known but it was a friend (lover?) of Ian Fleming who gave him the money to purchase Goldeneye. Her name was Maud Russell and was a wealthy socialite and she gifted Fleming £5,000 to buy the land & build Goldeneye.

Overcoming obstacles while staying cool. I was driving a delivery truck that refused to start after I got a ticket at a speed trap in a small town. I freaked for a moment then thought, "What would James Bond do?" So made a friend (she was at that moment getting raided by the EPA) that referred me to a lady down the street who kindly jumpstarted my truck and I was on my way. No worries!

Many people like Bond because he lives the life that they want. And they can have it if they do everything Bond does minus the killing. To be Bond you have to become Bond and Fleming.

Fleming was typical of his time and class. Great writer but a conservative Etonian type who belong in the Victorian ear. England still has this obsolete class too, don't be fooled by think we're all modern.

I am glad you correct and said Ian Flemings lifestyle as the model for James Bond that he based his book upon (first book) and the girl for Vesper were both Polish Super Spies. If you doubt what I say please google 'To Live Well is to Hide Well'. Find my website even and learn who was the real James Bond, with proof.
