I DID IT!! For those having trouble: if you have long shoelaces, try to grab the shoelaces closer to the shoe (so the ends will end up being longer) and also, when you do the crossover, your hands will end up swapping the shoelaces. JUST SWAP THEM AND YOU'LL DO IT!! I BELIEVE IN YOU

I watched this video for the first time in 2015, when it was only a year old. Don't know what got into me, but as I was tightening up my shorts, I suddenly wondered how this video and channel is doing right now. It took me a while to find this again because I couldn't remember the exact video title nor the channel. A simple youtube search wasn't doing it for me since not a single one of those was the video I remember. So I did a little digging on google trying to find this, and now here I am, 7 years later. Happy that this channel is here and still somewhat active. Never got to say thank you, so I'm saying it now. Thank you for this video. Ever since I've watched this video, I've been tying my shoes the same way. Even years later, that "left over right" or "right over left" was always in my head whenever I'm tying.
@ProfShoelace
@ProfShoelace 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for relating your detailed story - I love it! Firstly that you were shown this knot while still so young. Secondly that the “left-over-right” and “right-over-left” were correctly instilled into you. Thirdly that you persisted while searching through the hundreds of shoe tying videos that now crowd out my own in order to rediscover my channel. Amazing! Admittedly I haven't been too active here lately while I've been slowly bringing my website into the 21st century. But that's about to change shortly - I'm getting set to release my new super-secret knot (fast tying *and* fast untying!)

I'm 22, I understood the principle pretty quickly. Then the period of understanding began, the process was unusual, but the more I repeated, the faster everything turned out. It took me 15-20 minutes for internal sensations. It's funny that if I were 7, I would hardly understand the principle, but I would get used to this method of lacing faster. Now when I'm 22, it's easier to understand and get better, but it's harder to get out of the old way of lacing. Thank you. Professor.

Firstly, congratulations on learning the "Ian Knot". I'm pleased that you pursued a solution despite the setback of the first video that you tried. Awesome that you then learned it so quickly from my own video! Secondly, it's wonderful to hear that the Ian Knot has proven itself over a couple of years of usage. Finally got it after two hours of trying. This has been a major help. I suffer from CP which affected the strength and the dexterity in my fingers and hands which makes the traditional way much more difficult with so many steps. After 27 years and formerly wearing leg braces, I can finally tie my own shoes. It also helps that it is only one step essentially, since the starter knot is necessary no matter how you tie. I wish I knew of this technique 20 years ago. when I was a boy.. Thank you Ian. :)
