What is a NDE or Near-Death Experience?
A near-death experience (NDE) is typically a profound, life changing, intensely emotional experience that usually occurs during a clinical crisis and has common characteristics and aftereffects. It is not a dream, hallucination, or mental illness (Greyson, 1983). There are no predictive variables to identify who will have an NDE. They happen to people of all ages, religions, socio-economic groups, cultures, educational backgrounds, and belief systems. They occur under a variety of circumstances such as accidents, near-drownings, illnesses, combat, surgical procedures, and childbirth. Following an NDE, experiencers (NDErs) often display some common aftereffects. Research has established a set of common NDE characteristics and long-term aftereffects. Common theories used to explain near-death experiences have been proven inadequate by NDE researchers and others.

I keep watching this NDE videos to give me some kind of validations that heaven is real. My 5 years old son just passed away a month ago, I am so heartbroken 💔 that I can’t even see how I can live without him anymore 🥺🙏. I am still a father, a husband, a son, a brother, uncle etc… those are the only relations that kelps me going 💪🏻. Oliver, daddy miss you so much! Love you so much! I'm so sorry for your great loss...and I've had an NDE. I'm childless in this life and can only imagine how you're feeling, but hope you're getting support in your life and extra angels for comfort. This is wonderful. I had a near-death experience in 2003. I hit a big tree head-on and according to the paramedics I died instantly. I did not have any vital signs at all for about an hour. I have a wonderful story and I actually met Jesus. Jesus told me that he was not ready for me yet and had things for me to do and that is why I am still here. All of my medical records are at Bay Medical in Panama City Florida to verify my account, and plus my family heard me in the ICU room talkin to God. God is real and he exists and he loves us very much.

Dr. Kumar has hit the nail right on the head where the medical profession is concerned. He should start a medical school with a curriculum that includes everything he so perfectly outlined along with much stricter guidelines on who gets in and what they must achieve and personally exhibit in order to graduate. We're in a new era, and it requires elevated thinking guided by expanded perceptions and respect for humanity, nature, animals, Earth, and the Divine Source within which everything resides. ~ retired medical practitioner.

@ 48:20 Peter Cummings talks about something he did as a child (holding his breath) and would someday need to remember it. I completely resonate with this!! In my youth I'd have regular flying & falling dreams where I'd impact the ground from great heights and continue dreaming (never caused me to wake up but just casually continue on as I was resigned to the fact I'd land, hard). In 2017, the day of my accident, I fell 15 metre's from a sheer cliff while bushwalking/rock climbing. I surrendered to it (was so familiar), went limp and impacted (I've amnesia from the trauma but 'know' there was much more to the missing time). The falling sensation was weirdly peaceful, I checked out. Nothing for weeks till I regained 'awareness' in hospital. I 'survived', albeit the catastrophic injuries and spending 2-3 months in hospital/rehab/etc. Reassuring to hear what he had to say. I thought I was crazy and the only one to unintentionally learn a bizarre/unsettling skill for a most unexpected experience (or was it?).

This was wonderful thank you all. I particularly enjoyed Anoop. His passionate feelings about materialism being embarrassing totally resonates for me. I have not had an NDE but have always felt the very strong presence of a huge other dimension on 'the other side' which dwarfs what is no more than a fleeting earth life in this temporary body. I have always had a sense THAT is true home and in a way, can't wait to get back. What makes me saddest about my time on earth is that so many live as if we are all separate. No one religion is the 'only way' because it implies separateness which makes me sad. We are all connected.

May your own connection to what I call the realm of Divine Love seep and flow harmoniously into every interaction you have with every being on the Earth in this Life and beyond too. I think that when we see the Divine Love spark, connection, within the hearts of everyone we meet, and greet it in our heart and mind, then it responds and grows brighter and more clear.

Elizabeth, if you haven't already done so I highly recommend the YT channel Samaneri Jayasara. She is an Angelic Buddhist nun who has a collection of messages left by enlightened masters, saints, sages, gurus, in other words, knowers and teachers of THAT by experience and are all from different cultures and religions. They all went "home" while in human form and realized that there's no death, and they point the way to those who listen and practice. Their messages combined with NDE's has elevated me to a higher dimension of consciousness.

This is an interesting subject. When I was around 16 I had a near death experience. I passed out and I traveled back through life. It was wonderful I didn’t want to come back. Now I’m 66 and I think about it often. Would it be the same now since I’ve been through and done so much? I wonder the people that I told that this happened to me think I’m crazy? Because no one shared any experience like this to me. It’s just unbelievable I can cry about it but it was so wonderful.

I was in my bedroom getting ready to get dressed for the day when all of a sudden I found myself on the ceiling of my room though I could sense my feet were on the ground. I felt transparent and deathless. Intuition told me not to go running down to share w/my/mother but I didn't listen. She looked at me incredulously as I told of my experience. Shouldve kept my mouth shut. But that experience led me to be able to comfort others going thru grief as well as to live a freer life. Also to get messsges from loved ones who'd passed on!

Whether it's out of body, in body, near body, with/without body, or anything else, the body is simply a modification of what you are. Sometimes, holding on to an experience (even a wonderful one) can increase angst. Sometimes, letting go of an experience allows something new to surface. I hope this is somewhat helpful. They were all wonderful, but I wanted to give Dr. Peter a huge hug. He gave me so much comfort when he said: "I wish I could go back to those families and tell them it's okay"...he wasn't the one who told me about my son when he was murdered, but I was told by one and he's ABSOLUTELY right...that's the first question I asked after I was finally able to speak and it was "Did my son suffer"? I know now after all my research he's fine and still with me although I can't see him. He does send me signs. Oh gosh, I miss him so much, but I know he'll be waiting to take me wherever he is when it's my time. I'm no longer religious, or in a religious box, but I am spiritual. Edit: I do want to ask...did she say that EVERYONE has a choice to come back or not? I'm not sure I heard that right. I don't think my son had a choice after being shot in the back of the head. Forgive me it I got that WRONG. Anyone????

I totally love all Anoop has had to say! I also love Pete's description of the malignant environment of the medical field, especially in Boston. I'm a MA RN and had quit for 8 months hoping to never work as a nurse again. I did go back as a per diem home care RN, which is about all I can stand getting close to it. There is so much cut throat, competitive attitude in western "medicine." It's almost health hurting instead of health-enhancing. This is not to say there aren't caring medical-field individuals. I just know what atmosphere I can and cannot stand. I think I'd like to hear from any of them if they had any type of intuition along the medical intuitive lines that may have happened to any of them.

There's so many 'wounded souls' here, trying to deal by the day, the moment, for years, with grief. I could handle it if this life would be all there is,what is unbearable is the longing to be reunited with those I love. Some of us have known the disillusionment of the human faults of wishful thinking and self-deception,and the many hucksters in 'organized' religion. The NDE gives us a whole different perspective. Listening to them is the closest I've been to a restoration of something like faith that I haven't known in decades. I'm late in my earthly journey, and their message leads me to understand the central issue of life: the relationship of grief and love. Grief shows me how love is worth much more than all the money in the world, and growth gains its value in our suffering. What any clergy tells us may hold wisdom and compassion, but they don't have the first-hand experience of these people. May we heal and grow in love. 🕯️♥️

Great video and great host and panel. Having worked for decades in Mental health until last year, the question posed by the social worker also interested me. I often wondered how I could be sure of what was delusion and hallucination and what might be a spiritual experience or are they sometimes intermingled? I remember one person with schizophrenia speak of his experiences with 'souls' for example

I pray more in the medical community discover the validity of this research. The idea you as medical professionals haven’t explored this with others in person is unfathomable to me. But that’s me judging so , lol on me. If it helps, I know many in the community have more of a belief in the after life than they discuss out loud. I was a CNA for over 20 years and we have had plenty of interesting experiences when our patients passed on. And I wish them to really truly understand they cannot treat mind illnesses with pills. It absolutely takes reprogramming how one thinks. I was depressed, but I knew taking the meds did nothing. Eventually I got brave enough to take the leap and fix it myself. I have not had an NDE, but I have had other experiences deemed weird which I know are NORMAL, but people, like Peter, are too busy trying to pretend that miraculous experiences are nonsense and unusual vs common. I’m glad he had this experience. I hope more nonbelievers do. Omg you’re from Maine 🤣😂 I’m in a cabin in the woods there. God is so funny! Of course he is, we’re funny…. We’re it! I appreciate the before hand believers stories, but Peter’s is my favorite. Nothing more incredible than a nonbeliever discovering the that truth is subjective. Oh wow, he’s in Maine in the woods again…I bet I end up meet he and his family. Because god is that 😎

How someone can have such a profound experience and not share it with others is absolutely beyond me. I too am a medical professional, but I found the circles where I could speak of this. I honored my experience, I loved myself enough to search around me to reach out to others. We each come to understand what loving ourselves means at different times, and under different circumstances. That is the moment that change can begin to take place. Every time I listen to an NDT or out-of-body experience, I learn a new piece of the puzzle, and another aspect of healing and understanding is triggered inside me. Sharing of experience is essential. Thank you for your courage.

Thank you all for sharing this information. I clicked on the video b/c last year I had an experience I’ve been trying to make sense of . The second dr. Who described it as a blaze . That’s what my experience was like . I now feel less crazy hearing his story closely relating mine , I also was deep into studying philosophy and searching for the meaning of life. I feel , We all as humans desperately need to start opening up with each other more about these experiences so we can start to understand them better. So insightful ❤️

IANDS might consider doing long-form podcasts (think Joe Rogan, Lex Fridman, Danny Jones) of a duration of up to three hours. discussing the latest research and stats, the 'geography' of the other side, the taxonomy of experiences, spontaneous healings of severe conditions in the wake of NDEs, the development of special gifts after NDEs etc. An IANDS podcast in that format and with individual episodes focusing each on a specific area or related areas could be very exciting.

Doctor Cummings is intriguing how to reconcile his experience of being finished with life, and now he finds himself in this new life remaining. he formerly experienced purpose, reason, and identity in a modern or postmodern atheist life. I think he is avoiding the narrative of his own experience to some extent. there might be a bigger picture that more accurately accords with his experience as a legitimate reality. some physicist believe they can find tiny little parts that explain a measure of reality, but so far they keep finding empty spaces and measurement problems. some other physicist believe that we might understand that there is a wholeness to the "universe" that allows us to recognize behaviors and nature's within the whole. I am of course implying that the answers and best questions might turn out to be of a spiritual philosophy. I don't know if he is ready to hear it, but it is a common intuitive based philosophy to accept the idea that we are soul's sent her on a contract, and he has been offered an extension. he should be following and leading with love and light, to get a proper over achievers head start on the next life, if I'm being plain about it.

How I wish IANDS could come to Nigeria and educate people concerning these experiences,,so many person maybe experiencing this but don't know how to integrate their experiences...and more research could be extended to Nigeria countries.and show doctors concerning the brain and mind relation...our medical books still says that brain create our thoughts, that when the brain dies , everything is gone,no consciousness

@IANDSvideos

Dear Bill, so many NDEs are evidence-based shown it would be impossible for them to be a hallucination. So many who were clinically dead, can tell you exactly what was said all over the hospital and in faraway locations. There is a ton of evidence that these are not hallucinations and have been backed up with facts that the dying person could not have known. You cannot compare NDE experiences to each other, and maybe not all of them are authentic. But the fact that there is life after physical death is overwhelmingly evident. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and comment. Much Love & Appreciation🌹🙏💖
