If you ship hazardous materials (aka dangerous goods or DG) by air, US DOT and most major air carriers require you and your staff to complete training on additional requirements for hazmat air transport.
These unique, additional rules are found in the International Air Transport Association’s Dangerous Goods Regulations manual, known as the IATA DGR for short.

The IATA DGR requires hazardous materials air shippers to complete training once every 24 months. US DOT requires hazmat training for all “hazmat employees” once every 3 years.
