Gorgeous guitar. I'm paying off a J. Custom 8570CST (Natural). The deal was too good to pass up. I hope it lives up to the hype! 😁🤘

Clean tones were round, fat, and beautiful. You can find many tones from 2 humbuckers. That's great sounding guitar. You are a great player, nice feedback and trem action.

I love the control layout on this. I always fumble on 5 way blade Ibbys. I have an RG2620qm prestige from the early 2000s that has this same layout minus the coil tap switch. Killer demo/ playing as always Chris!

Great video and tasty licks. I have this model (8520-GE)in Emerald Green with the Tone Zone/Air Norton combo and you hit the nail on the head. Peak quality and playability. I still have a problem though and still buy new guitars cheap and expensive and I see you’re also still afflicted with that same sickness haha. This one is still my forever guitar but I’m also a collector and don’t ever think I’ll stop.

Super happy to have found a used 8570 for a killer deal. Desert island guitar for me. Agree with all your points though.

That tone is very good! There's that dimarzio signature done so well with your playing and the DM Fusions. Tighter than the TZ/AN. I'm thinking of going to Dimarzios again.

Nice review, Beautiful guitar! I love my Ibanez Guitars to. It just puzzles me they didn't cover the truss rod with a nice Custom plate cover. They just leave an uncovered hole, this is a J Custom, C'mon Ibanez....I remember looking at these new and wondering why that small detail was left out. I still would buy one though for the right price. Just my .02

Somehow the fit and finish is a bit tighter. Neck woods are more figured. I like the neck profile a bit better as well. The frets are dressed flawlessly, with perfect round fret ends. Arguably better Tremolo in the Lo Pro Edge. Really love the pickup config and switching a bit more too. If this had the black and gold aesthetic, it would be super sick IMO. But I won't complain about the sexy blue top. :)

I just watched your Jackson Dinky blue guitar video where you talked about the Floyd Rose 1000 series and that you more prefer the Original Floyd Rose with titanium buds. You said that is your favorit trem more than the Ibanez trem. But in this video you say the Ibanez Lo Pro Edge trem is the best. Now I am confused, haha. For me I had the both trems but I liked the Ibanez trem more. I don't know about the other trems of Ibanez. I know that Steve Vai prefers the older trem version which he had on his first signature models. I think it is called the Pro Edge with is slightly higher.

As far as stock tremolo's go, the Ibanez "Edge" and "Lo-Pro Edge", are the best, IMO. However, I actually prefer to have a German floyd rose (or even a Schaller) with upgraded titanium parts. It's insanely stable. But, it's something that you have to upgrade to make it perfect. There's nothing wrong with a 1000 series Floyd or even the special, if you take care of them. But they pale in comparison to the real deal German build with upgrades. The precision and quality is tops! $$$ though... But remember, it's all subjective and these are just my personal opinions that I've formed over the last 36 years of playing. Your's may be different.

Is it actually flamed maple binding? Or faux binding effect by masking off the sides of the flamed top? Some companies do that for a binding look, but fancier. Difficult to tell right now as the vid is still stuck in 360p lol
@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear Жыл бұрын
Its a masked binding that shows the side of the full maple top.

Niiice lol I like that effect. Its like binding from far away, but you never have to worry about binding getting old brittle and chipping away

Hi, I'm torn between a j custom and the PIA, why would you go for this over the PIA? I wish the J Customs had steel frets, it's the only thing that has me weighing in favour of the PIA, and maybe the scalloped frets
@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear 6 ай бұрын
For me, it's a feel thing. The PIA is absolutely fantastic and a gorgeous guitar to boot. But, you can feel the quality difference in the J-Custom. I also prefer the contour of the J-customs neck profile. It's a bit flatter and faster feeling. The petal grip on the PIA is also less functional then the grip on the JEM. It does not fit the hand. So to me its a useless cosmetic feature, whereas with the jem, the grip is quite useful. However, I highly recommend trying them both for yourself. We're all different and like different things.

Thanks Chris@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear Thanks Chris, the ebony board, Lo-Pro, and the fact that it is handcrafted might just push me to the J Custom.
