Fantastic review, you really explained the nuances of this bike well. I agree that the ripley is one of the best trail bikes out there.

I LOVE my Ripley sooo much (and also my Lazer Jackal helmet! That thing is so comfortable!) I wanted a bike that climbed like a dream, and the Ripley does! If I can stay balanced and keep turning the pedals over, that bike will just keep going up anything, no matter how steep. And it's nicely angled for downhills as compared to to my prior (more XC) bike, so it feels great to me on downhills as well.

I also find myself often riding my lighter, short travel trail bike over my enduro bike due to the weight difference (about 11 lbs.). Willing to give up descending speed for easier climbing. Amusingly, my hardtail actually slots in almost exactly between the two, weight-wise.

Detailed review 👍. I’m stepping into this bike from a great hardtail (Team Marin 2) but needed more for the rocks in central Pa (about 50% of my trails). Your thoughts really helped - I don’t need the Ripmo.

I’m in search of the perfect bike that can hold up to the Vancouver‘a North shore , Squamish and whistler down hills 😊 a little different than your terrain . That’s what’s so fun about the women MTB KZfaq community. I love watching your videos . If your sponsor needs another women’s view in the mountain trails I would be your girl😉

Great review! If I were buying a new bike, I would probably go this route. The first small frame to show up on the used market (in my price range) last year was a HD3, so that's what I've got. I would rather be on a smaller travel 29er, but I'll have to be patient for the right thing to come along. (Are you selling anytime soon?🤔) Small frames are hard to come by. Hoping to try this bike out at the Sedona bike festival this fall! Enjoy!

When ordering from an ibis dealer you can specify stem length and dropper length. The bike yoke is definitely worth the upgrade. Also, on size, I am also 5’4 and was on the fence between small and medium until I read about Sam Hill, Richie Rude and Jesse Mallemede riding a size smaller than what their respective brands suggest. It has to do with the leverage you can generate in your attack position. Joy of bike have a couple of very interesting videos on it.

I just wish the Ripley had higher BB. 335mm seems too low with 175mm cranks for technical climbing. 170mm cranks don't have enough leverage for me.

Try the Ripley with Manitou or DVO suspension and you will be even more impressed. The Fox suspension really holds Ibis bikes back.

Great review. You mentioned your inseam but do you think someone with a 28 inch inseam would be able to stand over a small ripely?
@dustybettymtb
@dustybettymtb 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely. It's way more stand over than I need but more stand over is always nice. I'm able to run a 200mm dropper on mine because there's so much stand over. You'd do fine with a 150mm or 125 dropper.

I’m starting to check out full suspension bikes for purchase this winter/ spring. I’m currently riding a Roscoe 7, and I really like it, but would like more cush on the downhill. I live in the Pacific Northwest and tend to do a lot of climbing (not technical), some easy green and blue downhill, and lots of flowy trails with turns and trees. Years ago, I had a full suspension, and hated it, because it felt too long. I think it was Julianna. It was great on flowy trails, but I couldn’t make tight turns with it. Do you think Ripley would be a good choice for an all around trail bike for a beginner?
@dustybettymtb
@dustybettymtb 2 жыл бұрын
I do. Not sure how long your last bike was. Bikes have generally become longer in the last few years but seat tube angles are also getting steeper the keep things feeling nimble for things like seated climbs. But I feel like the Ripley is very versatile and for a trail bike it's on a the shorter more nimble side. We all have our preferences though. I hope you find a chance to take one for a test ride!

I'm on a Yeti sb130 size small and the standover hight is just a tad high ( I'm 5'4")--the Ripley sounds interesting. My Yeti came with an Assegai in front, Agressor in back and feels somewhat heavy--suggestions?

I ordered a small frame months ago and can’t wait to receive it. I’ve ordered a lot of my components but don’t have a dropper yet. I’m 5’5” with 29.5 inseam and was hoping to install a 150. Based on your experience and size, do you think you would have any issues upgrading from the 125 to a 150?

@@markkreisberg360 Hi Mark! I'm 5'5" as well with a 29.75 inch inseam, so we are built really similarly. According to Ibis, 5.5" is in the medium range, how did you like your small? What made you go with small? Did you have to put a longer stem on?
