Kamil Ibragimov is one of the best fencers of our decade
and an important factor of his success is the strength
of his attack.
Ibragimov understood that the attack is adaptable,
not fixed, and his lunge is remarkable.

wow, ibragimov is a fascinatingly fast thinker on the strip. its a wonder to watch what hes doing and wonder how someone thinks just so quickly that he can react to his own position and make drastic alterations. i know we all do this on some level but he is a master of thinking on and with his feet!

I love the way he constantly keeps his Sabre moving up and down as he attacks , and always in line with the opponents Sabre ; thus nullifying any would be attack - reminds me of the field theory

Nice - very interesting the way he converts his lunges into balestras. The speed at which his opponents have to be retreating to pull his first one short means there's very little chance they can be stable enough to counter immediately and he gets a pretty big window to reprise.

if you look closely, you will see that when Ibragimov does this, the majority of the time his opponent is crossing his legs backward.

@@fencingbrothers6266 My coach says backward cross is very bad for this exact reason, but sometimes it feels like the only way to escape fast enough.

@@stevep1762 backwards cross is bad for that reason however id argue crossing backwards to avoid a touch is better than standing still and getting hit

This would be less effective with épée right? Because he would be exposing his whole leg?
