1 Timothy 3:2-3 (Qualifications for a Pastor).
• A leader shouldn’t be quarrelsome/brawler. Paul describes a Leader/Pastor who can step into a challenging moment and restrain himself.
• ⁠To be able to verbally restrain and redirect himself.
• ⁠He can skillfully control his emotions to the point where he can use words to lead himself and others in a heated situation.
• ⁠Words have power, we can either heal or hurt people with our words. Be careful how you use your words.
• ⁠Through failures and experiences I can learn to develop skills in the area of improving our communication skills.
• ⁠We can learn to regulate our emotions and words that follow when we’re heated and when others are heated.
• ⁠Reconciliation happens when we learn to use our words as a tool that leads others and not a weapon that harms others.
• ⁠A leader must be able to handle his/her emotions.
• ⁠Jesus is the best example of a leader who isn’t quarrelsome. He acted out of love to the point where He even prayed for forgiveness when He was being crucified. That’s Agape love.
• ⁠Start today to practice the Agape love which Jesus commanded us.
• ⁠The Lord has called us to be peacemakers and not troublemakers.
• ⁠A Leader must be self controlled. A leader will not last long if he’s hot tempered.
• ⁠A Leader who is prone to aggressive physical or verbal disagreements isn’t qualified to be a pastor.
• ⁠It doesn’t mean that a leader may not have to rebuke someone, speak the truth or correct someone.
• ⁠A leader will sometimes have to give a sharp word and that’s understandable. But not strife or be quarrelsome.
• ⁠Those who wish to be pastors, it is a good desire! We are called to minister others. Focusing on spiritual things and teaching others.
• ⁠Seek the Lord in prayer and ask Him to guide you to put the requirements into practice.
• ⁠Be careful of false Pastors/teachers who don’t practice the requirements as stated in the requirement list in 1 Timothy 3.
• ⁠Don’t follow a pastor if he behaves unbiblical.
• ⁠The Word of God is the foundation of our faith. Our faith increases and our spiritual lives are enriched through the Word of God.
• ⁠A pastor/leader is chosen and called by God and He will equip you with the necessary qualifications.
