Just as a warning you have to be careful when coming out of a ice cold bath, and then going into a hot bath as your heart can stop. When in the ice bath your temperature slows down and therefore your heartbeat becomes slower. But if you immediately enter a hot bath and increase your temperature, your heart might not be able to hold up and pump blood quicker. Don't forget for ever 1 degree that your temperature raises your heartbeat quickens with 10 beats per minute.

Yes that is true you need to be careful. And yes it can freeze your heart but not only that it can give you brain damage

Trek Video Not true. Here in Sweden we go from ice bath to the sauna and the sauna is a few degrees hotter than a hot tub.

After a bit of looking arround, I found information on Contrast bathing or going from hot to cold very quickly. Fortunately as far as my minimal research went, I could not find any negative impacts that this has (and really no confirmed positives)

The instant shivering when you guys had the "ice helmets" on might be because a lot of heat is given off from the top of your head. That and your brain needs a certain level temperature to function. Your bodies probably went "Oh no! The brain is cold! Warm it up quick!" or something.

When your core temperature starts to drop, your body starts to shiver. When you stop shivering, you are beginning hypothermia.

Scandinavian spas are the best for this kind of thing. You alternate between a really warm hot tub/sauna and then take a quick dip or shower in frigid water, take a break and then repeat. Went to one in Montreal. It's refreshing, exhilarating and exhausting.

***** Yeah, as Chris reiterated, you take a 30 min break in between cycles. The hot cycles are only supposed to last 15 min max, and the cold cycles are 15 seconds max.

Mr. B It really depends on how cold the water is. I'm from Sweden and I've done this with pretty cold water(50-something degrees) without breaks and I just felt really refreshed.

Here is my challenge for them....they have eaten a ghost pepper. They have eaten a Carolina Reaper. I dare them to eat a Ghost Pepper, a Carolina Reaper AND the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion (one slot below the Carolina Reaper on the Scoville scale) AT THE SAME TIME....and DOUBLE the amount of time they wait before relief. Let it be 16 minutes instead of 8.

After an icebath, do not go into a hot tub, but also don't pull a link and isolate yourself. Your body isn't putting out a lot of heat. It's better to be exposed to the warmer air.

i have done the hot tub to pool and back and forth... but I did it at new year's eve and at the coast with an outside pool and an indoor pool. the outdoor pool feels refreshing.

Jeana Snyder Well Rhett had a slight advantage. Because he is taller and bigger his body can regulate the cold more. That's why people from colder countries usually are bigger...But it is only a slight advantage...

Jeana Snyder Katelyn Cowger is right. Link has less meat on him and even less fat. There's no way he could keep his arms and hands in that water. His skinny little fingers would have frozen.

Im from Vermont where it gets pretty cold in the winter and for the last 6 years I have raised money for the Special Olympics by taking a swim in Lake Champlain in freezing cold water. To get in, they have to break the ice on the surface and the average water temp for these events has been around 30 degrees F. The hardest part is using your muscles to swim as your body slows down... You guys should have tried dunking your head and have the whole thing happen somewhere where the air temp was like 10-20 degrees - now thats fun.

Link looks so cute just hanging out in that sleeping bag.. lol... Adorable! I did that whole thing swim in the hot pool then go into the cold pool... loved it! I loved how when you got out of the pool your legs felt like jelly!

I know that you can really hurt yourself by submersing yourself too quickly extreme temperatures. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I hope you two are ok. :(

They will be okay I've done plenty of ice baths in my time ( I'm a triathlete look it up if you don't know how crazy training is) and you are okay within 30mins once you thermoregulation gets you to the right level , they made it look worse than it is ,but they did well

Once in Canada, there was an Ice Bath at the hotel I was staying at. Me and my friends tried to see who would stay in longest. Immediately after, we went into the heated pool and it burned real bad, along with a pins and needles like when your foot falls asleep, except all over

You shiver because your skeletal muscles are making small and quick movements and it creates warmth so you eventually get warmer

When we went up to various hot springs in Idaho we would soak in the hot springs then go roll in the snow and run back to the hot tub. Super fun.

Why We Shiver... When you feel cold, tiny sensors in your skin send messages to your brain telling you need to warm up. Your brain sends messages to nerves all over your body telling your muscles to tighten and loosen really fast, which is what we call shivering. It does this because when muscles move they generate heat.

All the potato chips! Ghost is FAAAAR less dangerous than a Carolina Reaper, by quite a bit. The next few down are the Trinidad Scorpion and the Butch T, Ghost peppers aren't that hot compared to them.
