This tutorial is for an ice dyed doggie tank top. I used hemostats and made a mandala design on the back of the tank. There is a link below to the blank on Dharma Trading Company's website. I would definitely size up on the tank top.

Haven’t done these but have done onesies and you’re right about the amount of dye. I had to use water diluted dye and not use the ice method to get them to turn out bright, vibrant colors, rather than deep and dark.

I think it turned out very beautiful. My daughter-in-law has been looking for a shirt for her dog. That’s just a little guy. I told her to check out the newborn section and then if she wanted, I would dye it have a great weekend.😁✌️

That is so cute angie! And if you notice on the back or the chest area picture it looks like a dog face. The little holes for the legs are the dog's eyes and there is a little snout and it shows a couple of bottom teeth. Thank you for the video.

I'm glad to hear you say you can get away with a shorter processing time if the temperature is hot enough, because the hardest part of these projects for me is WAITING ARRRGH I wanna see how they turned out NOW!!! Luckily for me I'm in Florida so hot temps are guaranteed. BTW, I think the underside of the tank looks a bit like a dog's face, with a blue forehead and a blue muzzle, and two tiny little fangs sticking out (-:

hi Angie I have 3 labs And would love to make something like that for them. your little dog is so cute and I think the Mandela turned out beautiful. Even though the colors were darker than you anticipated, it's still a great shirt! Thank you for the tips on using less dye. I seem to be a bit heavy-handed myself most of the time. I like the other comments. it definitely looks like a dog on the other side. it's really a cute shirt. thanks for the great video😊

Sweet little "body" for your dog. He looked a bit surprised😁 Agree it could be lighter but one never fully knows what makes the best result in the end. I have a question: Have you any experience with soaking or using pool PH high, if so have you notice lack of brightness? Is soda ash to prefer? Maybe you've done a video of it but I missed it?! I don't live in US so have to order SA and it gets expensive so I'm trying to find alternatives. Happy for any ideas, thank you😁

Thank you! She is a really sweet girl. 😀 I haven't ever used pool pH high. Another name for soda ash though is sodium carbonate, so it should work if it is pure sodium carbonate. I do know that they sell sodium carbonate for swimming pools, but I just haven't tried it. You can test your soda ash solution that you make with it though to make sure it is in the proper range. A pH of 11 should work great.

@@sissisquiltandbatik If your pH isn't the issue, you might explore temperature. The fiber reactive dye really needs a temperature above 70 degrees Fahrenheit to be vibrant. Some colors are particularly sensitive to temperature, like turquoise. I usually put shirts using turquoise outside and not in direct sunlight where it is hot during the summer to get the most vibrant color. It also helps to leave the dyed items alone after the ice melts and let them process for about 24 hours or so. The item will need a little time to warm up after the dye melts. No worries, I didn't even notice that you referred to her as a "he." 😀

Thank you, so kind of you to help. Here in Sweden we have warm houses during winter so we often have 70+/21° indoors or infront of our woodburner. Summer usually not so hot but this year it is amazing.. have had up to 28° or batching in our greenhouse. And I leave it 24-48 h mostly, I have some nice tees but are out of soda ash so I think the pool stuff don't get up to more than 8, 9 ph. Thank you again. Wishing you a nice happy tiedye day😊

@@sissisquiltandbatik It sounds like the temperature isn't your issue. You could experiment with adding more of the pool stuff until you got your pH to 11 and see how that works. I hope you have a nice tie dye day too! 😀
