Follow us on our winter roadtrip through Iceland!
This one was truly a wild ride! We spent two weeks exploring Iceland in March, driving through raging blizzards, swimming in glacial water, and marveling at unfathomably blue ice. This trip allowed us to experience Iceland from many different perspectives - and made us hungry for more!

Thank you:
A big THANK YOU goes to everyone who supported us on this trip, especially Katarzyna Maria Dygul from Business Iceland, Bjarni Freyr and Pálína Georgsdóttir from ISAK 4x4 Rentals, Óskar Vignisson from Visit Vatnajökull, Guðný Lára Jónsdóttir from Atlantsflug, Helen María Björnsdóttir from Local Guide of Vatnajökull, the team of Blue Lagoon, and Alisa Silveira of BZ-COMM. Another thank you goes to Stephen Wright who captured some cool shots of us driving through a big puddle. And a very special thank you goes to Þórdís Pétursdóttir who helped us with the correct pronunciation of all Icelandic names (I may have gone overboard on Strokkur).

First of all I want to start by saying your video is world class! Such a beautiful documentary. I was in Iceland for 2 weeks about a week ago (end of sept to second week of Oct) and now that I'm back home I miss it so very much. Your video takes me right back but gives me a whole different view and I can't wait to go back again. I would definitely recommend going in the spring or fall season so you can get a more wholesome experience of Iceland while still skipping the large tourist crowds

Lived in Keflavik for 3 years in the military. I drove a front wheel drive Toyota Tercel. Never got stuck. Just watch the BLACK ICE. That is what killed Americans while I was there. Safest country ever. If you see someone stranded it's their law you must stop and assist in white out conditions. Blue Lagoon is a must.

We went to Iceland last summer while the volcano was erupting. We booked a helicopter ride over the top of it, but it was going so hard it was producing it's own weather and we weren't permitted to fly. Other then that, we saw a number of the sights shown here; absolutely awesome! I'm already planning a winter overlanding trip for this coming year - can't wait to go back!

This brings back so many wonderful memories. We (wife and I) had our first trip ever to Iceland on 2022 and I fell in love with it. Unfortunately, we couldn't do the Golden ring due to time but what we did, Reykjavik to Egilsstadir, was so mesmerizing that we will go back for the rest. The raw beauty, the scenery, the openness, the people.....I can't single anything out because it was all incredible and I love the fact that it's kept in its natural beauty. Iceland is a MUST for anyone. Until next time Iceland!!!!

I'd say summertime would always be my preference when it comes to visiting Iceland. I can still remember all the wonderful colors I've witnessed back in August 2017 and you get lots of daylight too! Still, the advantage I guess of going in winter is that there's much less tourists and prices I think would be cheaper? And of course the winter landscape itself will have its unique charm too! Thanks for sharing. :)

I did the almost identical route twice, once in winter (Nov 2009) and once in summer (Jun 2011) but with a driver guide. Iceland is a truly magical place! Went off roading through Iceland wilderness and lost a wheel after hitting a rock while crossing a stream. Had to wait for tow vehicle in the fast fading lights of winter 2009. What an adventure!
