If I'd wager a guess an imaginary mine is a tile that has a mine AND a clue, and is safe to click, but all the clues only give the magnitude of the complex sum of all neighboring mines. (because that would be pretty cursed but not impossible)

Imaginary numbers are lateral numbers, so I'd assume 3D minesweeper played using exclusively 2D hints.

The easiest way of doing it is just doing it like negative mines. So kinda just another type of unit for mines to be

2 sqrt 2 is equal to sqrt 8, Sqrt 8 = Sqrt 2 * sqrt 4 2*sqrt 2

nah bro, the problem he had was that multiple mines were equally likely to be chosen for the next nearest. after the adjacent one, either of the diagonals could be considered nearest. they aren't both considered nearest, of course, because then 3 squares would be considered nearest instead of two. icely assumed that there would be no ambiguity.

@@diegomastro5681 yeah, but it's ambiguous whether both spaces have mines or only one of them. you can find that out using other information on the grid, of course, but it was assumed that the mine indicator gave information on all the mines that fell within its parameters, which that mine indicator failed to do.

​@@CowCommandoties don't create any ambiguity relevant to clues, so there is no reason there'd be no ties.

22:11 the 2sqrt(2) can refer to 1*2sqrt(2), since there is a confirmed mine that is 2sqrt(2) away. You have to take a step further into that logic that there can't be another mine less than 2sqrt(2) away. Which forms a contradiction in the bottom-left two squares.

Well, first when you square a number, you're multiplying a number by itself to get the answer. A square root is where you already have the answer, you're looking for the sum that makes it. The square root of 2 is an irrational number which is a number with an undetermined length of decimal points, specifically: 1.41421356237... And what makes an irrational number irrational unlike, say 3.33333333... is that the decimal numbers do not repeat, no matter how large a portion you look at or how far the parts you're comparing are, you'll never get two parts of an irrational number that look the same. Thus, 3.33333333 is rational.
