Once assembled, this unit is around 13" in height.

Is that 13" from ceiling to lowest point on fan blade or 13" from ceiling to fan cover? I'm trying to make sure it will either be above my garage door tracks or below it, so distance from ceiling is very important

Hi bkendrick, 24" is the longest downrod we produce for purchase - however, we have had some customers create a custom downrod of their own using heavy duty 1/2" metal electrical conduit and drilling holes at top and bottom to accomodate correct installation using the keeper pins. Depending on how long you create your downrod, this may mean you will need to extend your wiring.

Most fan shops and Home Depot have longer rods. I got a 6' rod for a vaulted ceiling installation.

Hi Debo, a 12" downrod would be fine for this installation, as long as it meets all other safety requirements with a standard install. A 6' downrod would also work - again, just make sure it meets safety specs (able to install keeper pins and other safety features) outlined in our manual. Please note that at that length you'd need to extend the fan's wiring in order to complete install.
