@@thesecret111I have been offering from the start. I am totally fine with paying. I literally try and find loopholes to pay, but it never works lol. There is nothing wrong with this dynamic. It was how he was raised and he said he enjoys treating me. I try to pay every time. While I know he will always pay no matter what I say feel I should always offer and I will never stop offering. It’s rude for me to expect him to pay. I really appreciate it though.

It’s about showing that you’re not entitled, that you respect the guys time and money too, and are independent. Most guys are willing to pay but it’s a big ick when anyone assumes that automatically. It sounds funny but it’s kinda like not tipping and thanking your waiter. Yea they serve you regardless but why be that one rude prick who doesn’t tip

Yo I can understand your point. It’s valid. This goes both ways though. My ex didn’t value my time and money. He definitely didn’t care to invest yet gloat how he doesn’t care about money.. My ex was so reluctant to pay and never let it up that he paid for something so small. But he was expecting me to spend on him like I was his sugar mama even when he knew my money trouble. The short text he hated but he did it and I was just suppose to take it. It really just have manners, exercise effort and value and care about the person you’re investing the time being spent on each other. Just be good person.

It’s called showing a sign of RESPECT (ever heard if it?) for a person that did something for you that they really had no obligation to. It’s respectful and polite to say „please”, „thank you”, „you’re welcome”. Gratitude is a basic concept that you teach your children to do to be respectful and respected humans in a society.

I keep seeing people in the comments saying how opening the door doesn’t deserve a “thank you” or any gratitude because no one asked them to do that. I genuinely want to know how tf your parents raised you to not understand showing the same respect someone else shows you. Like okay I didn’t ask them to open the door, but that means that they opened/held the door and did it with no obligation/benefit to them, or their time. Personally, that deserves a thank you, and to me it is second hand nature to show respect and gratitude towards people that do such kind gestures because kind behavior should be rewarded with respect and gratitude. Plus, don’t even think about bringing gender into this because I don’t care if they are man, woman, ze/zim, it/they, helicopter, triceratops, etc, they are getting a “thank you” because they deserve that thank you. Thank you for your time. (Edit: i learned about the existence of icks today bc my gf tried explaining what they are to me since ion use tik tok like that and it came up in some song she was listening to. 1. Not everyone wants to have doors open for them, if someone doesn’t appreciate that it means they don’t want you to do it so don’t. 2. It’s not cute to fight someone on who’s paying the bill, women can pay their own bill too and if the date didn’t go well they might insist on paying their half because they don’t want to give you hope of another one (doesn’t mean it’s like that all the time) so ignoring their wish to pay and forcing them to accept you paying for everything it’s not ok. 3. No one likes to write a big paragraph then just receive one word or emoji. Women have been complaining about men doing that for a long time. It’s annoying and makes you feel like they don’t care about what you said. It’s not a gender specific thing, no one likes it.

Been married almost 13 years...and I ALWAYS say thank you when my husband opens the door for me, or does anything he doesn't have to do just to be nice to me. Appreciation goes a LONG way. Men just want to know that you Appreciate them taking care of you and want to feel paid attention to. So saying thank you...and actually MEANING IT speaks volumes in your relationship.
