Thanks for this! New ham, looking at the IC-705 but wasn't sure what was included in the box. You saved me from buying a redundant power plug for use with an external supply, and also what to expect from the basic and advanced manuals. 73!

Just got this baby and I am very pleased. I have ran both digital and voice with no problems. Its like having a "Mini Me" IC 7300.

COngratulation, Sir.. I like to see the WiFi/WLAN and Bluetooth features in action, where you can show how to operate remotely. using PC/laptop or smartphone/tablet.. Looking forward for the IC-705 A-Z series.. Thank you

Yes, they do have a bigger battery. It's the BP-307 rated at over 3000 mah. Why Icom did not just design a battery case that uses three each 18650 batteries I will never know? The battery pack would probably be the size of the 307 pack and also have a higher operating voltage. Neat radio. Barry, KU3X/QRP

Thanks Tom. I would love to see an A-Z series but no rush on my part. If I get the 7300 next month then it will be a while before the XYL will let me get another radio and before I can save up the money. I would like to do some SOTA but no mountains in Florida so I will have to relocate first. My plans are to get a Xiegu 5105 for SOTA and use the 7300 for POTA. But I would rather have the 705 for portable QRP than the 5105. Note: any plans I have are subject to changes or cancelation made by my XYL. After 36 years of marriage she wins out over any radio. W4MKH

Tom tell me what does the wifi do for that 705 rig?

Hi Eric. The WiFi provides several features. A small, but useful feature is that it will automatically set the clock in the rig using Network Time Protocol (NTP). A 2nd feature is that the rig has Icom’s remote rig server built-in. So you can control the rig from their RS-BA1 software when it is connected to WiFi. Finally, it can act as a DSTAR gateway and uses the WiFi as the internet connection for that.
