I am reading this about two years after you reviewed it. Great radio the Icom 7300. Price has never been better for them . I may add one to the station here in the near future. You did a really nice job with the review. Current radio's here are Kenwood 850S , Icom 718 and Icom 706 MK2G. Antenna's R-5 Vertical and an inverted V dipole . I visited the A.R.R. L. yesterday and I was talking over radio technology with the W1AW station manager. 7300 is still very well thought of. Lots of bang for the buck and good user interface. 73 from Manchester, Ct. WU1Z. Thank you Matt !!!

Wow, white gloves, that's SERIOUS new radio love!😂 The 7300 has earned a good reputation and is a great choice. I'm looking for a radio to work 4m all modes portable but the choice is very limited. I have a 897 and a 891, both of which I'm keeping and considering adding the 7300 even though it's a bit on the big side for portable. The new Yaesu DX10 is also a contender, maybe. I agree with you about the 897, a really nice, rugged, "outdoorsman's" radio but from a different era tech wise. It was my first HF radio and I just can't bring myself to part with it. 73 and enjoy the 7300! 👍👍

My h appreciated Phil! Yeh the new radio needs the white glove treatment 🤣 glad you saw the funny side of it. Some people find it a bit much 😂 but was a good conversation starter 🤣 The 7300 is really good I love it! The ftdx10 would have been my choice most likely but out of my price range unfortunately 😅 thanks for watching and 73 🙏

So audio setup, Mic gain 35%, Comp 5, Bass -3 Treble +5, MID for DX, Change the audio mode to WIDE and Bass to +2 for Rag Chew.

Yes I understand that mate. It was out of my reach for years but the price will continue to drop! To be honest the antenna is the most important part. So any HF radio will do the same job 👍👍 thanks for watching bud 👍

Appreciate the feedback Andy 🙏 reviews and tutorials have always been my main drive on the channel but now I'm getting more into HF I want to experiment with antennas more. Funny you said this as I've just got a nano vna so I can maybe build a 4m or 6m dipole in the loft 👍 always appreciate you taking the time to watch mate 👍
