Pretty sure the pin up or rockabilly look was inspired or copied from Pachuca culture. Anyways, super proud of this video! I love that you're educating your viewers on Mexican-American culture #NiDeAquiNiDeAlla

I'm pretty sure is the other way around. Pachuca came from pin up
@MacMac1313
@MacMac1313 5 жыл бұрын
@@TuAmigoElMorrocoy Never !!! Go look at older pictures and you'll see. Pachucos are 30's and 40's generations, not 50's. Pachucos come from Chuco Town out of Texas. It was adopted out here in Los Angeles.
@MacMac1313
@MacMac1313 5 жыл бұрын
@Mark Grant Yup, white people shaved their heads first, no question but if you really want to know truth go ask a South Sider to give you the real version of why it is that they shave their heads. The same could be said about whites rocking a Mohawk but nobody questions when and why they started styling their heads that way. That being said, Pachucos are a generation of the 30's and 40's that came originated out of Chuco Town and came out here to California and was embraced by Mexican angelenos. But to me it seems like it's a cross between both sides of the fence. Pin ups and Pachuco style go hand in hand which is why it's very often to see rockabilly's looking like Pachucos and vice versa. There's a very small distinction between the two and can easily be confused if you don't pay attention.

To me these Pachuca looks remind me a lot of Frida Kahlo. Which was a revolutionary woman fighter where these ladies got most of the fashion ideas from.

+northernsoutherngirl It's crazy because when black ppl say we still face/go through the same thing those before us went through, there's a whole lot of arguing on the videos about black pp needing to get over things, but when other races do it, it's applauded. I see a lot of black ppl willing to learn about other cultures, but don't know much about their own, not saying this is the case for you, but i hope when you learn calo and talk with Latinos who speak it, you are able to communicate to them a bit about your own culture, while learning theirs. : )

@@byoung4eva1 latino is not a race. It’s a word to condense people who speak Spanish into one box. There are white, black, tan, mestizos, etc. La verdad es que nadie de este lado del mundo está hablando sus idiomas naturales except for very rare indigenous nations. Do whether you’re mixed with African or European, Latino is a group, not a race

Wait a minute, so people called the Pachucas out for dressing masculine but no one said boo with Katherine Hepburn, a white woman, did the same thing?
@stupidsminkle
@stupidsminkle 7 жыл бұрын
Society and media didn't approve of her doing it either. Her films where she was cross-dressing or going outside the norm of women's roles did poorly, her fashion choices were not received well, media considered her rude, arrogant, and provocative.
@Gii7077
@Gii7077 7 жыл бұрын
yeah, as stupidsminkle says, media NOW sees it as revolutionary and outside the norm in a good way bc of how times have changed, in a similar way to how pachucas are portrayed as badasses and pioneers here but that connotation was DEFINITELY not positive back in the day. we're looking at things through a modern lense, but it's not how the majorty of their contemporaries would have viewed it

Omg, when I was a teen I went with my sister as she went to her friends house who stayed with her grandma and ended up chatting with her and she started telling me about how she used to run with a gang of Latino girls and that they would put blades in their buns and brawled. She said she was a wild one when she was young. I guess I know what they were called now. I still wonder how they wore the blades in their hair it just stuck in my minds all these years.
